ATTN: Stan,

I'm very disappointed in how almost nothing has been done to eliminate the disgusting offenders who continue to smoke in the poker room bathroom. There is absolutely no incentive for them to cease their revolting behavior. One cigarette is enough to foul up the atmosphere for a considerable amount of time. It is simply not fair to the people who actually enjoy breathing clean air, especially those who are faithful Borgata regulars who play many hours. Smokers can choose to walk the 10 seconds to the horse room, or the 15 seconds to the doors to the surface lot. Some people actually get offended and sometimes threatening when informed that the bathroom is a non-smoking area (despite the no smoking sign at the entrance to the bathroom).

I think it should be fairly easy to curb the unlawful behavior; simply assign a security guard to the bathroom, and if someone is caught smoking, detain them, record who they are, and inform them that next time they will be fined and/or banned.

Please take care of this ASAP.

thanks

You are absolutely correct that this should not happen. I will pass this information to security.

Every time I see someone smoking I immediately contact a security guard, but all they ever do is tell them to put it out. What's to stop the criminals from violating the law again?

Thanks for your comments. I did notice that bathrooms. They were nice, nicer than the rest of the room I thought. As far as the "superior cable service", no I didn't notice since I didn't turn on the TV but for about five minutes. Why spend money on a decent cable service if you're going to give people TVs from two decades ago?

It definitely wasn't a bad experience and I'd go back again but I'd also like to check out some other places when I go back.

And I see you mentioned smoking before. I definitely noticed the smoking and when you're hacking up a lung from a cold that's the last thing you want to smell.

Overall, it was somewhere between a B- and B experience. I dug the poker room and had a blast playing in the $300 tournament last night (though I went out before cashing). I would have liked to have played some cash games but both my wife and I came down with something and by this morning, we were sick enough that we decided to just go home.

Our room was not what I would expect from a premium casino. Not that I'm there to watch TV, but I was amazed the Borgata still has tube TVs circa 1995 in their rooms. Other than that, the Italian restaurant was nothing special either.

I'd probably go back there for the poker room, but I wasn't totally wowed by the casino as a whole so we'll probably try some place else next month when we go back to AC.

Am I staying in a different room? Aside from your TV remark which I agree with, I've found Borgata's rooms to be one of the best rooms I've stayed in, and I've stayed in all sorts of hotels from 2 star to 5 star. Shower and bathroom area is amazing, room is just gigantic, bed is sweet (I usually have trouble sleeping on hotel beds, not at borgata). Add to the fact that for me it's discounted thanks to comps, value wise it's easily the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

The rooms are really nothing special. Any other hotel has nicer rooms(compared to the old rooms at the B)

I've only stayed in a few other casinos. Mandalay and the Hard Rock in Tampa. Both I found better than the Borgata rooms. The only other time I have been in AC, I stayed at an Econo Lodge and I woke up a tick in my shoulder so yeah, the Borgata surpassed that place.

And I didn't really know anything about the comps. I'll have to be mindful of this next time.

Let me say that the "Borgata Bed" is the best hotel bed I ever slept in, and if a rememeber the story the owner of Boyd tried many beds out when it was just getting ready to open and picked this bed out himself, it is even sold buy serta as the Borgata Bed and can be ordered. As far as tv poster is right the are embarrassing but I would rather have that huge shower and a good night sleep if I had to choose.

I had a wonderful time at the Borgata tonight. I played 1-2 for 4 hours and really don't have much bad to say. I was just wondering if there were people that could tell me how much bigger the Sunday crowd was than normal. I'm excited to go back, I'm just wondering whether it was more of a weekend night because of the holiday, or if it is closer to a normal crowd in the poker room on a non friday/saturday night.

Great limit action this weekend. 10-20 game got up to 4 tables for a little while and had a lot of new players giving a lot of action. One maniac polished off about $4,000 before heading to 20-40.

I love the B, go and stay pretty often, but if I spent $450 a night or even two nights at $450 for the standard room, I too would be disappointed. The renovated rooms at the new tower at Harrah's and Caesars are WAY nicer, but 95% of the time I am in AC I am going to stay and play at Borgata. The poker room at Harrahs is decent, but geared to 1/2 limit and low limit HE, but I really don't like the Caesars room.

When the B first opened, I think 8 years ago, the rooms were THE best in AC, the TVs were a mistake, I feel certain they will have to do something about those tvs in the next few years, they are kind of embarrassing.

Still love the bathrooms and showers in those rooms, and I respect that the rooms still feel fresh and clean to me after so many years, the bedding is nice too, but overall the rooms really are over due for some kind of an upgrade. But, I am getting comped or have partial comps when I stay, so some of the flaws are far more acceptable at a reduced rate.

We have stayed in 2 of the suites, one really large high end one with a dining room, AWESOME, but will unlikely EVER happen again, and the standard suite, also pretty great.

Completely agree re 5 guys!

As mentioned in my above post, the rooms could use an upgrade, but I completely disagree with this statement, the standard rooms in other casinos have nothing on the rooms at the B. Most of the rooms at other casinos are down right depressing, and the worst are the "non-smoking" rooms like at Taj that reek of smoke because they were previously smoking rooms converted to non smoking without changing out the rugs or drapes. However, I will not deny that the new tower at Harrahs, those rooms are just incredible, and so are the newer rooms at Caesars, but nothing else in AC comes to mind that I would call better than Borgata.

Regarding the smoking in the poker room bathrooms:

This is a real problem. I cannot remember a session where every time I went into the bathroom, it was smoke-free. Always at least once, someone is actively smoking in the room or just was smoking in the room.

The funny thing is, on weekends you have 1 or 2 security guards who camp out right on that aisle near the bathroom, and they don't care about it. Even worse, the bathroom USUALLY has an attendant cleaning or just standing in there, and he doesn't care about the smoking either.

Simple solution -- put a sensitive smoke detector in there that beeps at a jillion decibels whenever anyone smokes. Guarantee that will solve your problem. Otherwise, please have the security guards along the aisle or the bathroom attendant in the bathroom actually enforce it.

Got back to the Borgata for the first time in months this weekend - was great seeing Stan and the rest of the crew. Was very happy to see that the LHE games were not really being cannibalized by out of state casinos - there were a ton of mid limit games.

Not to mention the fact that the 20 game I sat in was literally the best 20 game I have seen in ages. I was starting to get used to seeing the flop 6 ways for 3 bets after about three hours of EVERY SINGLE HAND being that. Not a single hand was chopped - hell I don't think it folded to the button once in the seven hours I played.
