The more new players we have playing these games, the better for everyone. For the record - tonight's game had two regular 10-25 NL players, two regular 40-80 hold em players as well as a casual hold em player in the game. I myself would have to be considered primarily a NL player. I'm not saying this group of players are fish persay, but they are also far from Omaha experts.

You would think that due to the overall player pool at the Borgata that the interest and/or demand for a high/low game would be significantly greater than some of the other poker rooms in AC, but, from my past experiences that has not been the case, and I think one of the main reasons for that is due to the fact that the player pool is mostly young guns (and they want to play the game that they see on television, where the 'big bucks' are made etc.)..

I want you/Stan to realize that I am not just saying "oh the game will never go, the Borgata sucks"----that's not true in the slightest---I have made plenty attempts to get a game going at the B, I have sat in the game on numerous occasions, but it never seems to last for more than a week or so. And, I think one of the primary reasons for why that is occuring is because the new players that venture into the game (you and another poster both stated that your game had several NL players in it) decide that A) they can't beat the game and/or B) it's just not as exciting as NL and C) to a lesser degree, they hate "splitting pots," which we as high/low players know that when someone does make a comment such as that, it is purely derived from a lack of knowledge of the game. But, nonetheless, it is often enough to drive that player away and back to where they are more comfortable and better suited, which is the unfortunate craze of No Limit Holdem.

I heard you guys had a great game last night, but, it was also the end of a holiday weekend (the Taj was completely packed which it has not been in a long time---and I don't mean to keep talking about the Taj but I think it's only fair/realistic to point out why some of the games have not only been getting off but where they have also been "off the charts", as well).

Oh, and just a mention of the "T" word to Stan about the reduced Time Charge and I'll bet that he makes good for you guys, as well.

In closing, If the $30/60, $40/80 mixed game is still going two months from now (where it appears as if it's not just a passing fade) and it is worth playing in, I will come over and join you---I'll play shorthanded and I'll keep the game going if need be. And, if the CC passes the law and says that we can finally play Razz, I hope that the players will welcome a new game to the mix cause that will surely shake things up even more.

GL

Stan,
Just wanted to let you know how much your game reports are appreciated. Saw your report and went down last night to play PLO -- sat in on the 2-5 PLO game. Ran into another 2+2'er -- unfortunately by the time I went to ask for you at the podium you had already left (just wanted to introduce myself). Thanks again for the updates and for making the Borgata's poker room outstanding.

Taking a brief pause from the Taj/Borg mix-game saga...

An old college buddy and I enjoyed a trip up yesterday from Md. He did very well at 2/5 PLO.

I stuggled most the afternoon at 2/5nl hold-em so around 5pm we took a break and had a nice quick dinner sitting at the bar at Wolfgang Puck's place.

Back to the poker room I decided to switch things up a little and played a few hours of 10/20 limit h/e, which I haven't played in a while, and immediately things clicked. Flopped 2-pair on my first (posted) hand and won almost every hand I took to the river for the next 4 hours or so. Very fun.

Thinking of making LHE a go the next couple trips, possibly 20/40.

Saw RULER OF THE EAST holding sway and meant to say "hi" and "great job" and all that but.. . so here it is. Keep up the good work.

Good luck to all in 2010 !

I made my return appearance at the Borgata last night and slept over with my college buddies who secured a free room. (I was the Filipino wearing a gray Hollister long-sleeved gray shirt, a Phillies World Series cap and some shades.)

First off, I finally had a chance to meet Stan in person. At first I had difficulty trying to get him out, because one of the staffers at the tournament desk for whom I've asked thought he went out for the night. And obviously it wasn't true, thanks to constant communication via 2+2 PM messages with the "Ruler of the East" on my Palm Pre phone. :-) But as soon as he came out we finally talked and I clearly enjoyed my few minutes with him.

Unfortunately, it wasn't my night. In $2-5 NLHE, my TPTK on K's were crushed with pocket A's and made me exit earlier than I expected. Also on $1-2 NLHE, after four hours of play and making profit, I lost my entire $250 stack with set-over-set-over-set as all of us went all-in after the flop.

With a $15 pre-flop raise, the flop was 3-4-6
- I made a set of 3's.
- Another man made a set of 4's.
- Another guy (chip-leader that got both of us covered) made a set of 6's.

Sadly, the turn and the river didn't give us a spectacular bad-beat jackpot. I mean...that was as close as we could get!!!

Oh well...as a consolation prize for the night, earlier I was upgraded to Black-Label at the tournament podium! :-)

P.S. To the young lady from Connecticut I played against in $1-2 NLHE...Hi...remember me? heheh!

A few flops like that the BBJP will surely be taken down.

Depends on what your in the mood for. The Banana pancakes at metro are amazing. As for steaks, old homestead gets my vote -- but i usually eat the the noodle bar -- the sa cha beef noodle is the best
