Stan the Man,

If you have any pull, can you tell those guys who are posting reports on the tournament on the Borgata Blog to post more frequently? I'm trying to follow the progress and they're slow to post updates.

Thanks if you can help.

Only 850 for the tournament. Better than the 667 from the Summer Open, Less than the 1162 last September and the February 1500+.

Any explanation for the shortfall? Could it be the vig? Timing? Players waiting for bigger events? Can't be the venue because it's the best place to play and the best run large event on the East Coast. Could be all the competition from other events sucking out bankrolls. Seems like quite a few LV pros are coming for the main event.

Last September was a whole different ball game. The Market tanked shortly after the 07 BPO. Tournaments in my opinion haven't been the same since.

Last January we started with a deep stack with two starting days. This year we placed the deepstack at the end of the first week and we plan on having a huge field for it. But all in all i am very happy with the number we got today and the rest of the tounament should be busy as well. I truly believe the Main Event will be huge this year. The average poker player will have a chance to be a WPT champion and play on TV for only $3500. What a value!!

Stan- You need to have a talk with the dealers, they are (inadvertantly of course) taking too much rake out of the pots in the PCO8 games. Me and a couple of my buddies noticed that even when the pot was only $60 the dealers are automatically grabbing $4 out of the pot because the pot looks bigger than it actually is.

This happened at the PC Holdem as well when I was up there about two weeks ago. They were also taking the drop for the BBJ out of almost every pot because they didn't know it was only supposed to be taken when the pot was $100 (though some people were saying it was $80 so some clarification on that would be helpful as well).

I'm pretty sure this guy is a regular. I go to AC 2-3 times a year and whenever I play LHE (5-10 (back in the day) and 10-20), he is always there. Somehow I doubt it's coincidence.

Yeah this happened constantly in the pink holdem game this weekend. I think they are confused because the rake is 5% to $4 but the other games are 10% to $4 (right?).

Stan, why such a low % of players getting paid? Looks like 9.5%. This number seems like it keeps shrinking. In the old days, unless I'm crazy, 15%+ use to get paid. You would think if more get paid, then more are likely to enter another event. I know the pros want the smaller % and all the money near the top.. but... the majority of people in these tournies are not pros. I didn't see what 81st place gets...but let's say an amateur like myself gets 100th and picks up $550 or so, aren't we more likely to enter another event...and consider attending more series in the future?

It's not all the dealers - just some.

We constantly remind them that the rake is "one white chip for each 8 pinks going into the pot".

We have been using this payout structure for quite some time now. There are many arguments on both sides of this issue.

I know, I meant that they are used to taking 10% to $4 in most other games.
