while that's true, if they're going to call the floor they should go with the technical rule... that whole stack over the line in his hand is the bet.

Hi

A couple of q's from OP:

i) No-Limit Hold'em
1/2 60min, 300max
2/5 100min, 500max (no, this isn't going to change)
5/10 500min, 2000max

How many seats per table? 9? 10?

ii) Is the poker room 24/7?

Thanks

Mostly 10, except high limits.

Yes. It's the show that never ends, after all.

Thanks sirpupnyc

What is your opinion on the long-term viability of timed rake?

I have been reviewing another casino where rake is a max of $5 per pot (for a relatively large pot). What's your preference? (Timed rake definitely LOOKS better value)

It depends on how many hand you play/win per 1/2 hour.

Time rake is better and fairer especially if you like to play short handed.

my knowledge and experience.

Room is run like a total joke. Most dealers don't know how to do their jobs. I made some post about a reverse angle/floor call I did because I knew the floor would get the rule wrong and made a big stink so I could get another player to fold (correct ruling would've been adverse to me). Every floor is terrible. It's impossible to get the deep game going and the floors do everything they can to prevent it from running and discouraging people from playing, even though you can sit 25/50 plo no questions asked and 300-1000 is the standard buyin everywhere at 2/5.

At plo there is a rule now that if you bet 100 into 100 dealer has to say pot. This is absurd. I also had a dealer unable to read hands. Like, I got it allin on flop with a flushdraw+midPair+gutshot...first board flush gets there second board I make the nuts. Dealer is like "what do you guys have?" "uh i have a flush" "how" "five hearts makes a flush" then she starts chopping the pot and the whole process repeats.

I end up paying much more rake at parx cause of how loose I play and tipping the dealers way more but they're just so much better I don't mind even though I am generally a huge nit about tipping dealers.

Looks like they changed the small bad beat jackpot to 10% of the large. Used to be 25% (up to $50k).

This is true - they are now giving away $ 30,000 a week in the high hand promotions - so something had to be adjusted.

Looks like they have to resort to cheesy promotions to help keep the room going during the week, and lower the mini BBJ. Wow maybe the crappy delaers and out of state expansion is taking a toll on what once was the crown jewel of East Coast poker. Once they open a room at the meadowlands and another one in Philly it's over. RIP

Can always play in PA where the rake is 5 + 1 as opposed to 4 + 1.

Why are you dropping your chips one at a time over the line anyway?

Just played over the last two days here and I saw only one smallish mistake by a dealer - started pushing the pot to the wrong person - was quickly corrected. Play was enjoyable, aside from the fact that I saw more abusive players in the last 48 hours than I ever have before.

Where they're giving away $250K this month? That place? Where it's 9 round instead of 10 at all games? Where every table has a charging port and a dealer doesn't get off shift and put a black jacket over his uniform to call himself a floor?

Yes the extra buck rake is +EV for all those reasons besides the $30+ I save in gas and tolls.

Don't get it mistaken. I loved this room for many years. I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy. I'm saddened by the current state of affairs. Despite how much better I think Parx is for a variety of reasons, I still would venture to Borgata monthly at least. I hope it rurns around. We'll see. As I said before when they opened everyone said no one would go to the Marina and leave Taj. We know how that ended. Every empire falls in time. Is this the start of Borgata's fall? Looks to be IMHO.

Borgata is no doubt the place to play poker in my opinion. I recommend downloading the "Bravo poker" app if you have a smart phone. You can see in real time what games are running where. Unless you have some personal issue with Borgata or don't want to be inconvenienced with leaving your current hotel to go there I don't see why you would play there.

Cheap rooms depend on the day of the week. Sunday-Thursday rooms can be had for very cheap pretty much anywhere. Friday/saturday if on a real budget, take a look in Absecon, a lot of non casino hotels that offer cheaper pricing. Keep in mind if you stay at a major hotel you can take the jitney service for $2.75 each way to any casino hotel ($13 cab ride each way)

Definitely the jewel of the AC rooms for all the reasons you already know. I would look on Travelocity at reviews of motels on rt. 30 in Absecon for the weekends. I've found great places for about $70 a night on Fri/Sat. Rooms can be cheap at the Borgata during the week, but summer drives the price up. Goodluck.

I know everyone hates all the new changes. I hate them too. But as long as I make a profit, I don't care if the floor and dealers are rude. During my last trip, I finally had a 500bb+ stack at 1-2. And most of that came within 15 minutes of me sitting down.
