Can't remember the last time I was this tilted after a winning day. I could be up $15K right now or something.

Jake Lamotta looks a lot like Doyle. Never realized that before

Jimmy V's team...and story is amazing. I followed ACC Bball most of my life. But...

I also lived as a grown man through the weak-assed '70s (from an American's perspective). THAT is what took the hockey story to the next (top!) level and so far, there has been nothing like it. That story will never be beaten imo.

Close to $0? Player accounts are a thing.

Never understimate the youths ability to achieve.

But how many others did you teach to color?

Thanks Doodz. Its funny I was just beyond burned out with the casino environment. I honestly had zero intention of ever playing again. But, this winter time boondoggle came up and I figured I would go in, suck it up and knock out some hours till I hit my target. I am completely refreshed and feel like I can crank out 1000 hrs per year for a couple o years with no problem.

I was more than a little nervous that the game may have changed enough that I would need to do a lot of work to get up to speed. In 06 I got into that accident and did not play for 2 years and effectively had to relearn how to play poker cuz it had evolved so much due to the training sites. Thankfully most of the players in the live setting are simply unwilling to put in that work so even though the game has changed a little its still a very easy low stress way to make #mola.

^massive party I do believe Spyu.

Hope you keep the reports coming Squid. It’s been inspiring me to step up my play and stay sharp on a regular basis at the table again. I’ve been slacking in the focus department at times during my sessions and it’s shown in my results.

IiRC, Sqiud developed a bad case of snowinfluenzia-jealosieria and decided the only cure was to make enough #mola to afford to spend 3 months next winter taking the waters at the spa/sanitarium in Park City, Utah.

Hence, boondoggle commencement.

Spy - To me a boondoggle is just going over the top with a dinner or a trip or whatever. So my next winter trip is going to be a 2-3 month long boondoggle of action and adventure. There will be regular skiing, cat skiing, possiibly heli skiing, kite skiing, speed flying, hang gliding, paragliding, and too many excessive meals to count.

Xtra - thats great to hear. I promise you if you really work on your focus your reads will sharpen and you will find yourself playing better in no time mang!!

Ah, so I was definitely off in my boondoggle assumption.
Can feel it turning around Squid. Played yesterday and I gave myself a solid B+ in the quality of play department for the first 7-8 hours and was up a few buyins, but dropped off a cliff in play quality and spewed a good portion back in the last 2 hours.
I’m thinking of capping myself at 8 hours for now, even though I felt capable of longer last year.

your talk about focus at the table has been inspiring me to do a little more of it too.

My player pool is pretty shallow and I have hundreds of hours with all the pros/regs and most of the serious recs and fish, so I've gotten pretty lazy with it - I'm also playing for an outlet/social reasons too, so I do enjoy talking with people at the table, but I've gone too far the other way and haven't been thinking about it enough.

Honestly, my overall plan has been to make myself a small target so that I can minimise losses/break even vs the good pros while playing harder/taking advantage of the other regs/recs and the worse players but I think I have opportunities to attack the better players by playing counter their perceived image of me. So my plan is to take them one at a time and study them for a few sessions and then think through a plan of how I can take advantage of it them from time to time.

I've realised how taxing it is to really focus, watch and learn though, but I think it should help my overall game and most importantly, I hope it'll be more interesting having a specific study focus

hell yea guys!!! That really fires me up that you are taking the focus thing more seriously. I cant express enough how much it makes a difference in my game.

I'm focused for the hands I'm in. I'm guessing that doesn't count?

My view has always been that the most important thing is having good fundamentals. Paying attention to game flow is obviously very important as well, but I know that when playing 10-hour sessions, it's very difficult to pay close attention 100% of the time, because poker is pretty boring. Having top notch fundamentals will ensure that you are never spewing even if you aren't paying attention 100% of the time, or know what to do when you don't have good reads (such as facing a new player). Having good fundamentals allows me to sit anywhere from $5/5 to $25/50 without giving away edge to other pros. Obviously you want to play exploitable poker as much as you can, but knowing what's good in theory allows you to make proper adjustments as well (not knowing theory well tends to lead to over-adjustment and spew).
