I liked this episode a lot. you kind of have to ignore all the ludicrous plot holes/idiotic decisions and go with it. that doesn't make it a great show but it does make it entertaining to watch.

its a modified Heroes strategy.

I'm guessing alot of the same criticisms made in this thread have been echoed in alot of other places.

If they wrote that Latino gang storyline, they should've been let go. The writing is ok at best.

A huge majority of humanity is not built like a Greek God. Especially not a middleaged man living in a zombie post apocalypse.

So how long was Rick out for? (baller name imo)

I mean it started out like 28 days later, it would've been somewhat better had the zombies been the more aggro type. Like a rage infection...

Someone needs to seriously invent this zombie virus so we can all have a crack at zombie apocalypse survival..

I think one of the problems would be discipline. While a fortified location could easily repel an attack, knowing that almost all of your family is at risk would severely reduce your desire to stay on that base. I could see desertion being a HUGE problem.

Wow, this is actually awesome, because the writing is ****ing ****** as hell. Gives me a reason to stay tuned for S2.

And +1 at being annoyed for them not picking up the guns outside the CDC.

And something tells me there is more than enough ammunition on various military bases around the country to kill every person in the country thousands of times over.
Lol no. No base will have anything close to the ammo needed to kill 307,006,550 X 1000 people.

And also HE will have less effectiveness against zombies as you need a head shot to kill them. So fragmentation body wounds do nothing, and then you will have lots of zombies crawling around with no legs/arms etc etc, that all need to be put down by bullets. Grenades will be not that great against zombies.

That said a decently equipped base in a non urban area should easily cope with local zombies. The interesting thing is the supply chain. Is the ammo kept near to where the guns and personal are needed to shoot them.

There is no reason to assume it is, as it is logistically more sensible to have ammo dumps in locations that can serve several bases.

The problem the army will have with a zombie outbreak is the fact that there is no front, the enemy is everywhere and the supply chain to put down a large infected urban area will be substantial. I doubt a large % of the army is staying put in its bases.

You could kill zombies all day with a sword and full body armor. You just need something they can't bite through.

Apart from being knackered after 20/30 mins. Also large risk of pile on. I would not fancy being trapped under a hungry horde of zombies slowly chewing there way through my kevlar.

Well we dont know how strong zombies are, one could grab your sword arm etc and you could be incapacitated long enough for other zombies to get a purchase. Also how pro are your sword skills?

Yeah one base can't kill 300 mil zombies but I imagine it could fend off attacks for a long time. Maybe you find other bases somewhat intact too. The point is, if you're fortified in a decent position, then you will be safe. There's only so many zombies in one area. You won't be able to launch offensives but over time you could recruit more people and set up more bases. I would try and wait it out, banking on the notion that the zombies will eventually run out of energy and die.

Yeah, right, we'll see. I think my sword skills are adequate against a zombie.

Thank you, thank you very much. Even if this is because Darabont wants more corpse cuddling, grandmothers, and more emotion/less survival aspect I'm glad those turds got fired. Bottom line though, he did rewrites and gave the final go ahead on vatos, etc, so I'll hold out hope for major improvenments while not expecting too much.

They knew what the problem was and corrected it. I actually liked most of the visuals an settings but if the director gets **** dialogue then he can't hide it. I disagree about the bad acting. Id blame the material before I blame actors on a Tv show that Frank Darabont recruited. Ricks good. Old guy is good. Shane is good. The rest have been given polarizing material.

dids posted this earlier, but yeah there really isn't a plausible reason why an attack of slow moving lethargic zombies would take over the world, particularly well fortified areas or people who can drive in tanks, etc

it's why the story pics up weeks/months later. you just need to go on faith that for whatever ridiculous reason zombies were able to take over compounds and remote islands, etc

Have you guys addressed the fact that much of the military personnel on a military base would have become zombies themselves?
