i can't see anything productive happening at an AC meet up. maybe we could do the free agent **** once we figure out how it'll go down, but even that seems like it'd be better around a computer. definitely would be an excuse to drink, but not really sure karak needs another.

we need to set a date to finalize rosters. then FA's then rookie? other way around? should we just do free agency like we did the initial auction? any good methods in mind?

The proposed order makes sense to me (Rosters -> FA -> Rookie), assuming finalizing the rosters involves cutting unwanted contracts and promoting any players who won't be eligible for the minors next year or you just want on the roster (with their service clock kicking in for the 2011 season). The cut players enter the FA pool and everyone can just go at it with their roster needs identified.

I think the initial auction style would work fine for FA. Would be much simpler, since there would be a lot fewer contracts/players involved.

We may want to wait until farther into the off-season for any of that though. That way if a player is coming back from injury, changes position via signing with a new team, etc., we can evaluate those players accordingly.

And yeah, the more I thought about it, the less likely it seemed that any actual league business would get done at an AC meeting.

[edit] Is there a need for an offseason trade deadline? Probably not, just a thought. We'd at least want to define when trading is allowed again.

I think we should have to make rosters final soon (couple weeks? Thanksgiving? Dec 1st?), have all the kept players get updated contracts (5% or the same for rookies), and then we can open up trades until we're ready to do free agency - which i agree should be jan/feb of next year, to let the actual free agents get settled on their new teams.

We should probably figure the 5% increase in salary before we move onto anything else? Will this be on each owner to take care of? I mean I know what I am getting into as far as my overall salary but it would be nice to be able to look at each team so you can plan ahead of time. i.e. speculating on who someone might cut and if that player is someone you might want to target.

I'll try and post a readable list of everyones teams/salaries sometime tonight.

However, I feel like the first order of business might be the new thread and its creation, I think the league champion should be the one to hold that honor?
