What should the tie breaker be for rookie draft spots? we have two ties. if it should just be a coin flip, whats a fair/transparent way to do it?

We could have a mutually trusted third-party do a best of 2/3 off an actual coin flip. That person could then post the results here.

Or, we could have a third-party run the random number generator. The tied owners each pick a number between 1 and 10, whoever's number is the closest to the first one on the list wins the tie.

Also, +1 to having a straight-up snake draft based on the standings.

Previous Draft Pick Transactions

Pecota traded his 2011 2nd Rd. pick for sergsz' 2011 3rd Rd. pick.

Levarkin sent his 2011 2nd Rd. pick to sergsz.

those were from during the season? i had forgotten completely.

Yes, they were both part of regular season trades (Carlos Lee for Sanchez etc.; Hunter Pence for Raffy Soriano). Sergsz' system is going to be loaded.

I need a clarification for a minor leaguer's status:

Brandon Allen has 172 career MLB PA after last season, so he no longer qualifies as a pure rookie. However, this rule from the constitution:

"A minor league player is any player that qualifies as a rookie or begins the season in the minor leagues IRL."

suggests that he could also start the 2011 season on my minor league roster, assuming he is in the minors IRL.

If I knew for sure what Arizona was going to do with Allen, I'd make a decision, but with AZ failing to commit him to a position, he could realistically end up in the minors to start the season. If that's the case, I'd like to leave him there for now.

How should we handle borderline guys like this, since it could have an impact on available roster spots at both levels?

Well what you bolded would imply otherwise, but I think from how we've been operating that he has to be on your active roster. I have the same situation with Josh Bell.

Ok, I would agree with that. I have space for him, so there's no conflict in my case.

I'm going to draft an update to the constitution before the season opens, we really need to update that thing. I'll post it here once I get through it, the tough part is going to be tracking down all the rule changes and decisions we've made since the original version. They should all be in the thread though.

Trading Block Update

I've got a few players who play similar positions who I'd be willing to move for a draft pick or to fill another positional need. Most of them provide cheap sources of OBP and/or power and are a mix of high ceiling guys at different levels of experience:

Jim Thome - Util ($5)
Matt Joyce - OF ($6)
Nolan Reimold - OF, 1B ($5)
Chase Headley - 3B ($10)
Brandon Allen - 1B, OF ($4)

Yeah, I was just thinking of how we did the initial draft slotting, but obviously Exit is just as good.

I ran a similar league 2 years ago, a few of the owners have expressed interest in this one - PM me if you're interested.

I set up a league on espn and sent an invite to everyone. If you didn't receive an email invite, let me know.

Exit and Karak, I can give you league manager access once you join.

I couldn't figure out how to add players to the rosters without doing it one player at a time. It may have something to do with the settings, but it shouldn't be this difficult. Anyone know how to do stuff on espn, because so far managing things sucks balls.

Just checking - there is no way for me to drop Wainwright now, right? If anyone wants him in a trade as a keeper for next season, let me know.

Correct, gonna have to tough that one out this year. Though technically you could drop him from your roster and eat his salary, but I didn't think that was what you meant.
