I have some pretty tight knit friends from high school that I hang with still/talk to regularly. I'm at work one day, and co-worker mentions that he wants to go to a bar on a Saturday and watch the Rousey fight. So I'm like, cool. Let's do that. I let daisy know what I'm doing and ask if she wants to go. She says sure, and to ask my high school friend if he/wife want to go also. Since I'm doing that, I decide invite 2 other friends. All friends/co-workers are on board, except high school friend, have not talked to them yet.

I give them a call. Wife says that they hate watching fights at bar, but would prefer to watch it at someone's house on PPV, and that they would pay for half if we moved the venue to a house. So, I'm like.. Alright, let me see what the others say. I let Daisy know what had been said, Daisy says to invite everyone over and watch it here. So I let high school friend that we'll have it here, and they agree to come over. I let the others know, they agree to come over.

Ok, so plan is now in motion. I believe this was all decided on a Friday. Fight was next day. Daisy gets up and starts cleaning and gets the house tidy, while I go to the stores to get groceries/snacks/alcohol. Daisy cleaned from like 10am-4pm. She made the place spotless. I spent a few hours fighting with plebs to get supplies.

I get a phone call on my way back from high school friend saying that the wife has a headache and they won't be coming. It's 4pm. Prelims at 6ish, ppv at 9. We've literally bought all this food, ordered fight, cleaned house all day for something that was their idea. And then, we're paying $60 for the event and not getting it split with us. (Wasn't going to ask my other friends to pitch in, since I didn't lead with it the day before)

Pretty annoying.

Everyone else came over and good time was had, but bleh. Just out over $100+ and a ton of labor in cleaning, when we could have just went to a bar and have less stress of hosting.

Kristy, iyo: if GW has a headache, would you still go to said outing? Or vice versa? Or am I expecting too much for someone to leave their SO at home? I mean, Daisy and I leave each other all the time. We don't care.

Your story is parallel to what happened yesterday. Makes me so damn stabby.

GW doesn't get sick.
I have no problem with him and our littlest going away when I am sick, but if I committed to something I would drag my ass out for a bit and leave early.

Actually, I learned in the pubes thread that all mods have to shave their junk...

So I'm upgrading my request to video of maintenance.

I just trim it up a bit when I think I might get laid.

So basically never.

You guys, something wonderful happened to me last night.

My neighbours are an older retired/semi-retired couple. She was an art teacher, he is a dentist.
They are those nice people that every one in the neighborhood knows and loves. The local kids call them Grandma Liz and Grandpa Jim. They bring over a present for the kids on every holiday. It sounds like a traffic jam is happening when Grandpa Jim goes for his daily walk because every car honks and says, "hi."

So we had a little party last night and at one point we had a bonfire going. Grandma Liz LOVES bonfires, and because we're ****ty neighbours who haven't replenished her wood pile lately, hasn't been able to have one. GW immediately called them and invited them over for a drink.

Couple hours later 8 of us are left, and one of the original attendees mentions Cards Against Humanity...I don't know what magic happened then exactly, but I do know know that not only did my elderly neighbours play...but somehow we all knew, by some form of unspoken witchcraft, that whatever else happened-- All the dirtiest cards had to go to Grandma Liz. She got "Daniel Radcliffe's delicious *******" and "Pac-Man uncontrollably guzzling cum"...and generally answers so brutal that you know we're all going to hell for making her read them.

But the best part was, she answered, "pixelated bukkake" appropriately. Despite her claims otherwise, I'm about 75% sure she had to know what it meant.

We live in a beautiful world.
