You know what I really hate?

People who cancel plans. Out of 20 people, we have 1 "Baby Sitter cancelled", 1 "kid is sick", 1 "not feeling well", 1 gf is sick....I believe only one of them. I have a strict, "Never invite them again" policy, but it still annoys the **** outta me.

Updated blog with part 1 of an indeterminate amount of chapters recapping last night's events.

I'll copy and paste full story here when I get around to finishing the story.

Canceling plans is fine if done in a timely manner.

I have some pretty tight knit friends from high school that I hang with still/talk to regularly. I'm at work one day, and co-worker mentions that he wants to go to a bar on a Saturday and watch the Rousey fight. So I'm like, cool. Let's do that. I let daisy know what I'm doing and ask if she wants to go. She says sure, and to ask my high school friend if he/wife want to go also. Since I'm doing that, I decide invite 2 other friends. All friends/co-workers are on board, except high school friend, have not talked to them yet.

I give them a call. Wife says that they hate watching fights at bar, but would prefer to watch it at someone's house on PPV, and that they would pay for half if we moved the venue to a house. So, I'm like.. Alright, let me see what the others say. I let Daisy know what had been said, Daisy says to invite everyone over and watch it here. So I let high school friend that we'll have it here, and they agree to come over. I let the others know, they agree to come over.

Ok, so plan is now in motion. I believe this was all decided on a Friday. Fight was next day. Daisy gets up and starts cleaning and gets the house tidy, while I go to the stores to get groceries/snacks/alcohol. Daisy cleaned from like 10am-4pm. She made the place spotless. I spent a few hours fighting with plebs to get supplies.

I get a phone call on my way back from high school friend saying that the wife has a headache and they won't be coming. It's 4pm. Prelims at 6ish, ppv at 9. We've literally bought all this food, ordered fight, cleaned house all day for something that was their idea. And then, we're paying $60 for the event and not getting it split with us. (Wasn't going to ask my other friends to pitch in, since I didn't lead with it the day before)

Pretty annoying.

Everyone else came over and good time was had, but bleh. Just out over $100+ and a ton of labor in cleaning, when we could have just went to a bar and have less stress of hosting.

Kristy, iyo: if GW has a headache, would you still go to said outing? Or vice versa? Or am I expecting too much for someone to leave their SO at home? I mean, Daisy and I leave each other all the time. We don't care.

I cheerfully inquired. "No, I made zis for youz, you zilly Mexican!" "Oh, that's nice..." I quickly finished my food and went upstairs to play World of Warcraft for 10 hours.

Friends and I have a rule that if you make plans and cancel, you have to take the entire group out to dinner. The idea is that it's less of a headache to keep your promise than be on the hook for a $1k meal for 7 guys. Once that first guy paid for the Four Seasons, no one has flaked out since.

I'm the guy that never commits to the plans. I think I RSVP'd to my buddy's wedding a week before it happened.

The only person that I expect to read it, will. And she'll reply. Because that's who she is

Jack
Did you ask the quitters to pay their half of the fight?
Maybe type up a bill and give it to them (and a little KITN)?
