Well i say yes. and we play wednesday etc, have a good time.i go back thursday and friday, and ray (who asked me) keeps saying 'your not going to stand us up are you>>? Youll be here saturday right?" Me: Yeah ill be there, 845 for a 930 tee off. Well I get there today at 855. Ray comes and says, hey mark, we are not good enough to play with you yadayada yada...i say no way, i had a good time. Then he says well we got "billy" to play with us and that makes 4 and we wanna play for some money, is that ok with you ?

THis puts me in a bad spot, becuase i want to play, but i don't want to play with ****ers who don't want me there. I say yeah ray whatever, and i go get a bucket to practice. I am actually pissed i didnt tell him to go **** himself. I had a lot of **** to do this am, that would have been nice to get done. now i am out a morning, 35 minute drive for nothing each way.

and to add, you know how much they were playing for? $1.00 a hole...its not gambling IMO until you can lose the amount of money that the round of golf cost you....otherwise it is just 4 dudes jerking each other off

They obviously suck at life and you shouldn't let them tilt you. You should just laugh it off as just another one of life's experiences that you get to tell a story about later on. That's so messed up though.

he probably has "--The Method" as an automatic signature on his texts. still pretty funny though.

*edit* make sure that after your friend jumps on his back and he drops his brass knuckles that you pick them up and drop him in one punch. Then everyone will come in and buy pieces of paper for a dollar each from the school store to replace the missing money you're about to get in trouble for. As an added piece of closure, the bully will then come in with an eerie suspense only to give back the money he stole which got you into this mess in the first place.

*edit #2* forgot about the hot librarianesque teacher that comes in to make out with you too

He only wanted to play 9. Shot two over on the front starting triple single. He shot 37 but I killed him in match...

McMarky.. The funny thing is, you're exactly who I would want to play for a buck a whole... Someone that's gonna make me play better.. Sure I lose a few bucks, but so what,, it's a cheap way to get the experience.. Know what I mean.. Do you think any scratch would turn down a chance to play with a +3 cause it's gonna cost him literally a few bucks?

Anyway, those guys sound like pieces of sh1*t.

I'd totally avoid playing with those guys in the future. They seem like douchebags and unreliable.

As for money, there is nothing better for a golfer (in terms of self-improvement) than facing pressure situations. A few bucks is enough to get the juices flowing and will make you a better player.

Super pumped for the Member/Member match this weekend. It's flighted and my partner and I are in the last flight with our 15.8/13.8 index respectively. Each of are are capable of shooting anywhere from 80-98 depending on the way the wind blows.

It's 5 nine hole matches, 27 holes Saturday 18 Sunday.

Bit of controversy already. One random old dude, ROD, likes to play from the golds. Hes 65, and carries a 23.5 index. From the whites his Course handicap would be 26. For our 9 hole match there is a good chance he will be getting 5 strokes if he plays from the whites. Now the ROD is complaining and said he can't compete from the whites and wants to play the Golds.

The Pro said okay fine play the golds but you have to give up 2 strokes, or 1 stroke a nine, because the rating from gold is 1.8 strokes less than whites, not to mention the slope differential.

This is the first time I've played in the men's club but I'm sure things like this go on everywhere.

(In before sexist ban)

One of these days I really want to ask the GM at my usual course if they keep track of revenue from the beverage cart and if so how it's done over the last few years. I don't know if he'd tell me but I would be very curious as to the trend.

Two and three years ago they had the right girls working the cart. They were easy on the eyes but more importantly they knew how to sell. Great personalities, super friendly, would chat with you, were never in the way once they learned how to do the job.

Since then they've hired pretty much the opposite. Much more variance in the looks department, not many personalities, no sales skill at all. A lot of the time it's almost like they're being inconvenienced being paid to drive a cart around. With one or two exceptions I haven't even learned their names* which is a first. They don't get any training so they're always in the wrong place - and they don't seem to have learned by experience.

In the worst job market in thirty years you'd think they would have had no trouble hiring people that want to work and who can figure out what it takes to do well. I know serving isn't the most glamorous job but they make good cash. And it reflects poorly on the club when your service people aren't pleasant to deal with.

Sigh. But then again they do lots of things that make me say WTF how can you run things like that.

* This isn't as creepy as it sounds since (a) they wear nametags and (b) they serve inside when not on cart duty. Unfortunately the lack of skill carries over inside as that service has been horrible this year as well.

I have noticed the same thing. And the above is the part that confuses me most. My club has (supposedly) interviewed 20 people for our open bar cart position, but hasn't found anyone reasonable. I don't know if they are looking in the wrong places or what, but it just can't be that hard to get some girl from one of the local colleges or community colleges to come out on Tuesday night (Mens night) and Saturday/Sunday.

Hell, my wife was running a beer cart when I met her, and she was making more hourly doing that than she is making now as a full time teacher. The money is really good at the right place.

Also, just an update to a previous topic, I ordered a Puma shirt from kingdom59 today. It was only $32 ($40 w/ tax and shipping), so if it turns out to be a scam at least it will be a cheap lesson.

I did a little googling before ordering and didn't find anything new about them, positive or negative.

I was looking at those and almost bought a couple shirts but decided against it. Please update if it's a scam or not

Update, So that guy Ray, apologized to me today (he apologized day of, but still a prick thing to do). He was pretty nice, and said his friend chris ( i played with them last wednesday, when i was inviited) told him he was absolutely wrong, and sincerely meant it. so my bitterness is gone somewhat. Though he has been telling people i shot 33 on the front that day we played, which i dindt lol

Any suggestions for ordering a customized golf bag? Ideally I'd like to maybe get my name on the bag -- and have a good color selection.

I currently have a Ping Hoofer 3 that's 6 or 7 years old.

Thoughts on a white golf bag? Do they get dirty too easily?
