Next time you go to the range buy an unlimited bucket and try a 9 to 3 drill. Simply take the club back, hinge the wrists at 9 o'clock and let the face drop/close as you swing down, kind of like this.

I would strongly recommend just getting a feel for how violent balls come off the face of the club so that you don't feel like you have to kill it. See how far you can hit a club and how much power you can harness with a simple 9 to 3 practice swing. (This is obviously not a permanent swing, just for certain shots.) I can easily hit a 9I 100 yards with this swing and can probably hit my driver over 200 yards easy doing this drill. You're just focusing on contact and forward lean etc. That would be the best thing I could tell you about contact. That and you hit the ball and compress it first and then make a divot.

Please explain this term "compress" it, or did you just hear Tiger Woods use this term and thought it sounded good?

Here is good... also eBay; look for sellers that eBay has tagged as "Top Rated Seller".

Look at this kid's scorecard in the Jack Nicklaus Invite at Muirfield village yesterday. He was the medalist:

Seriously if it is comfortable and you are sinking putts inside of 8' and your lags are inside 3' use it ... its all good. If not, then start checking out putters... nothing wrong with cheap or old or ugly when it comes to putters.... If you can make putts with a cheese stick, use it!!!

I was comparing round 3 to rounds 1 & 2... Something brought on the bogey fest (probably nervous) while still getting his birdies... Didn't say he choked... its a learning experience for the kid and a job well done...

Hey guys, can someone please set the record straight on how to hit draws and fades. From what I gather, draw = put ball back in stance/turn hands over quicker, fade = put ball forward in stance/chicken wing out.

Are the feet supposed to be slanted toward the direction you want to start the ball. What about the clubface. I've heard everything (from ShawnClements mind you) to close the face 30 degrees to line up opposite your ball's finishing point and swing across your body.

Links, comments, and help welcome. I hit some straight pull and hooks today trying to play my draw lol.

Really sums it all up. Now, I guess there are some different ways to think about the mechanics of doing it, but it's ultimately all about the direction of the club face at impact and the swing path.

Anyone ever played The Fort in Indianapolis? I'm playing 36 there tomorrow and I haven't touched a club in over a month. I see there are 5 par 4's over 470 in length. GL to me.

Anyone ever shoot 25 strokes better on the back nine than on the front?

Cause that's what I did today.

I'll guess 73-48 for starters... That is bananas though.

Close, 72-47. In my defense the back nine is easier and I was stuck behind a couple of horribly slow groups on the front.

golf season is almost over (maybe 3ish weeks left at best) and i had my best ball striking round of the season today

all i did was make a posture/alignment adjustment and i was striping everything, will be a real shame if i keep it up until the offseason and then sit around all winter just itching to play and lose that good feeling

I've never seen a range offer an unlimited bucket. How much would it cost? (Perhaps you are suggesting to buy a range membership?)
