Any recommendations?
The best deal I've found is to take one of the large white minivans there and back for 500 baht. They wait at the border for about an hour. You need to book a few days in advance cuz they fill up fast. 053 247 447

oh really billy your going khon kaen? I think this is the first time you have mentioned it, well wow, thats news to my ears (tosser)

The clubs have been closing early in BKK for a few weeks now apparently, I went out last night, headed to insomnia around 2:15am to get in with the stampede but to my dismay everyone was already outside because the police shut it down. Only Shock 39 and Spicy were open.

If it is your first Songkran then you may like it.

What is your budget? Best place for a months stay imo is KTK

http://ktkpattaya.com/

KTK is 5-7 min walk to beach.

do u guys know that when a thai girl gets married the groom or grooms family have to pay the brides family an agreed some of money...

they have a meeting before hand and negotiate a price. I was recently at one of these meetings(pissups) before one of the cousins got married. Her bf family is pretty rich and they agreed on million baht.

They are apparantly meant to give it to the newlyweds for their new life but seems to be that doens't exactly happen ha

Now ppl are askin me how much i am giving 'her' mum. aye right then

saying that i've heard of farrangs also being expected to do this. Saying that most farrangs that are going to stay here buy land or built houses so no way are they gonna just hand offer a million baht or w/e unless they are filthy rich or stupid.

its called a sin sot. Because when you take the women away from there family they lose a source of $$$ as the children work and send money back to there family. So you pay a sin sot to kind of make up for that loss and to prove too her family that you can look after there daughter.

The money given is just an symbol saying you can look after there daughter and they family usually give it back to the newly weds. If you read Stickman some farangs get conned this way as they are asked to give money then they marriage does not go ahead.

pooter knows his stuff but that place is kinda expensive

basically the main thing for pattaya is you want to be somewhere on the baht bus route, as long as you manage that you are never to far or expensive away from anywhere

i was just on the 1 month apartment hunt there and stayed at "view talay 1" its in jomtien but only a 10 minute baht bus ride away from the action and was 10k a month, they will definitely have rooms open so if you show up and your plans fall through you could check them out, go to "nana rooms" right next to the front entrance of building A and you can get a good deal

not super baller but plenty nice enough, they didnt rip me off on the electric or water and refunded the deposit which obv is a plus

5 minute baht bus ride to jomtien beach

though i guess your not really supposed to swim in the water there so beach is kinda meh (unless u did 200 lb 60 year old russian women)

ah yeah thats right..knew there was a name for it

yeah but it seems to me from seeing what went on here and speaking to the biatch that often the parents don't give it all back as they take something for looking after the girl all those years. But yeah i think your right when you say it's also a symbol that the guy can look after the daughter.

Her cousins parents are keeping it and giving it to them when they see fit as the kids that got married are only 18 so sounds fair enough i guess. But obv the daughter is spewing hard lol

apparantly i just need to flash my land chanote as the sin sot and thats ok.

i told them that its my culture that the brides family pay for the wedding but that went down like a lead ***** balloon.

If the girl has been previously married or is with child from a previous relationship the sin sot is not needed. My mate was gonna marry a girl and the family wanted cash, his thai male friend told him about the previous marriage thing. He then told the family he knew and didnt have to pay since she had both been married before and has a kid, and that he would be taking care of the kid and her etc. The family were cool with no sin sot, but as a show of good faith he put a load of cash on show at the wedding so they could save face with other thais at the wedding, lol snapped it right back soon as the party was over.

I can confirm that KTK is the nuts.

About songkran in Pattaya: I was there for it last year and I have mixed feelings. I really enjoyed the first few days, probably because I had just arrived in Thailand and I was in a blissful party mood. A massive waterfight all over the city was pretty hilarious. When that's said it did get a little old towards the end. imo Songkran in Pattaya just drags out a bit too much. I don't remember exactly how many days it is but it was definitely a couple too many.

Water throwing in Pattaya starts about the 12th of April and gradually gets worse until full blown warfare starts in Naklua on the 18th and then central Pattaya on the 19th. On the 6-7 days leading upto the 18-19th water throwing normally stops about 7pm. Places like soi 7 and 8 play water all day everyday from the 12th til 19th.

I ****ing hate it.
