Its £71 for 3 nights which is around 1200 or so per night, just see if it looks ok for the money please mate, if you can be bothered take a peek inside a room, if not no worries. Am also interested in what the roof bar is like too and any other decent bars/clubs/resto's on that soi. I know Q bar and bed supperclub are there but anywhere else you find please mate. Will be with a girl anyway so not particularly looking for places to ship, just some nice places to go for a night out on the ale

its pretty expensive to buy a drink, they have a dress code too AFAIK, so make sure your dressed well. Never been there, but have been to different roof tops on hostels, and the veiw was cool as, id imagine the skybar is the nuts.

never stayed at fenix, but friend uses it as his standard hotel in BKK. it's fine, nothing special. they only have a small indoor pool (in case you care).
roof top bar is nice and i like it. but it's not really what you would expect if you hear "rooftop", it's just on top of the building but like 5th floor or something (so most buildings around are higher). one area is full of sand and beach chairs and "day-beds", rather loud sound and good cocktails. expect more or less the bedsupperclub audience there (hiso etc). kinda similar to "roof@muse" (before they renovated).
other stuff in suk11: q bar, bed supperclub, climax (in the grand president garage) and some street bars. frasier suites (serviced appartment building 50m from fenix) opened a rooftop bar & restaurant a few weeks ago. never been there, but the "location" itself is super nice, so i'd try out the rooftop bar: https://www.facebook.com/aboveeleven?sk=wall
other restaurants: limoncello (50m as well) is ok italian food, otherwise imho not that much (i think the japanese restaurant on the other street side is okish as well). soi arab is close by if you like that food (and everything else on suk obv)

Nest is pretty good, went there around 6 weeks ago, decent DJ, good drinks, the atmosphere was nice, and there's obviously a great view, good spot to go chill with some friends for a few hours around 8 to 11pm. Most of the people there were around late 20s to mid 30s, almost certain there isn't a dress code like PeoplesElbow said and the drinks weren't expensive either, just don't go wearing shorts and flip flops and you will be fine.

Firehouse (best burger place in BKK at the moment, imo) is right there as well.

spotify expired for me after being outside of the UK for 6months :/ i had premium service too and was still paying for it... weird.

I stayed in one for £4 in Vang Viang, it was pretty decent too, I wouldn't have complained if I paid 3 or 4 times that for it.
I stayed at H-Residence in Bkk on Sathorn Road for 23 CAD$ a night, if you travel with someone i got the 2 bedroom deluxe for that price.

Friendly staff. Pool is super nice. Close to everything.

I shared a room with a friend for 100 baht at the Laos border when the exchange rate was 40b = $1. Was pretty bad lol

Is Firehouse really the best? It's possible that I went in with too high expectations because I tried the Premium burger and was very disappointed. Don't care that it was taller than it was wide, but if I'm paying 240 baht for a burger it should taste good. Maybe I should have gotten the Angus burger?

I saw a one private room 300bhat +fan near Hua Lamphong,. But want to stay closer to the sukhimvit line. I pay £6.50 a night in a hostel right outside Thong Lor. If you know cheaper places just put it on here or skype brah. Cheers! this is a temp situation till i get a pad.
You realize that you will have way more fun if you live reasonably rather than trying to squeeze every penny. Also, this dude you are staying with probably expects you to bang, and also you aren't gonna be able to bring girls back to his place. You are doing it so wrong its not even funny. I don't know why I'm even responding to you because you've been proven to be a troll time and time again.

How much is internet while you're there? No serious bandwidth just enough to grind.

I've stayed in tons of places along Sukhumvit, and checked out even more.

Le Fenix is one of the places I checked out - including being shown at least one room. (I think I looked at 2 or 3 rooms actually)

The place looks a lot better in photos than in real life. You can see that the photos have been heavily photoshopped to make things look vibrant and snazzy. I love modern designs, but somehow their hallways look more like a deserted hospital than a modern stylish hotel. There was also a super strong smell of ammonia in places and they didn't seem to care. There were little things in the room that didn't seem to be taken care of.

Location is awesome or too close to some party venues. Depends on the person... I would prefer to be just a little bit out of the way in more quiet spot. I do like the German joint on that Soi, though.

Also, Lefenix shows up regularly on Latestays.com if you do decide to take it. I don't really mean to sound too critical... it's alright... just not my top choice.

If you want to be along Sukhumvit, but don't necessarily care to be right on top of stuff and don't mind a 5 min walk down the soi, I would recommend Privacy Suites. It will run you about 1200baht, negotiated. My second choice would be Dream, which will run you 1600 negotiated. (standard factors depending)

There is no such thing as half decent portable internet.

Most of Thailand is 2G. There are several regions where they rolled out 3G. No matter what, it will all still suck for everything aside the most basic browsing.

Where are you coming from that you're even asking this question? Very few places in the world have 4G. I live in a city with 4G and it still sucks because there are deadspots everywhere, including my house.

I dont need speed, just basic coverage and not loosing 50% of my packets when I ping something, with a 2-3sec round trip for the ones that do come back.

It is patchy and working better now, 30min ago I couldnt browse or use skype.

AIS worked better than I expected in Phuket, I would def consider that 'half decent portable internet', just wanting to know if there is an equivalent here in CM.

Cheers for that mate. Dream is coming up at around £45 on agoda, don't want to pay that unless I have to, looks like a nice place though.

Privacy suites looks ok, how far walk is it to Asoke BTS?

I back packed in Thailand for 1 month and had an epic time, my daily budget was around £20 a day. Its not even about squeezing every penny, its more about trying new things. If I can save £8 here and £10 there, it may not be alot to some, but it sure as hell is to me in the long run.

I plan to stay here for like 4 months, so the 2 days im couch surfing there I dont really care if I cant bring anyone back. I was a troll, if you see my post on this account, 98% have been on topic and in uNL. Apart from me having some banter, I have given legit advice ITT too
