Haven't watched the vid, but saw a few screens and fairly sure that girl falls into former H&F poster jdock's category of body like a 12 year old boy

Also still keep wondering when FakeB is going to get on there. Seems like he could legitimately go pretty deep without a ton of training.
Hahahaha. Man, you know me well. I saw her and instantly was in love. Shipped her nano 4.0s and all.

For real, she's perfect.

Chose my own adventure, bros.

My rugby season wraps up in a few weeks, so I will basically have three months of uninterruped training before I hit a 4 week holiday. Which means I have three (possibly more because I care less about recovery out of season) free training slots per week.

Should I:

Weightlifting? There is a fairly good club about half hour drive from my place. The current lolCommonwealth Games 105+ gold medalist is the president of the club and him and his coach are the head coaches there. Looks pretty cool.

Boxing? There is a fairly cool gym close to my work. The owner is a former boxer so he runs boxing (and other fighting) classes along with all your usual metcon type fitness things. He also claims to teach power lifting and weightlifting but after the bit of training I did at his gym, he doesn't appear to be super knowledgeable here.

Crossfit? There are a billion boxes (boxes? am I saying it right?) around.

Powerlifting? There is a club about 2km from my house that competes fairly regularly.

Other? (There's a gym near my work which does "hormone balancing")

My goal is "everything". Strength, agility, fitness, size, etc.

I get the feeling that crossfit and/or boxing might actually be best (other than a 3 month course of 'roids).

Weightlifting You're too injury prone

Boxing Lol you want people to hit you? see above

Crossfit bzzztt

Powerlifting not a real sport, participated in by fat lazies

Golf course near you?

I vote powerlifting Snitch. You are a 200lb man, you should be stronger.
And these guys for sure would tell you to stop being a nit and just lift the damn thing.

I say go for something you've never done before. Boxing sounds fun.

Talking for serious here now, bros... wrt to weightlifting and boxing... do you think hitting things and/or lifting things (moderately weighted things) over my head repetitively will be good or bad for my questionable shoulders?
07-16-2014 , 11:12 PM
My vote is weightlifting.
07-16-2014 , 11:16 PM
One vote weightlifting.
One vote boxing.
One vote powerlifting
One vote golf.

Standard H&F consensus.

I'll break the tie. I vote for Snitch getting hit in the face

Its highly likely, but if they have a good season, there's a chance he might decide to stay. Even if he plays the season out and then bolts, we'd have had one season of watchable NBA basketball to show for it. If they trade him for the crap that has been discussed, it will be another 10 years of unwatchable ****.

The last time they were good was 2003/2004 when they had the best record in the WC. The went to the WC finals vs the Lakers with no PGs on the roster who could play. Cassell & Hudson were both injured. KG played PG bringing the ball up every possession and then passed it and posted up. They lost the series 4-2. ****ing cursed franchise.

Yeah I think some training would be beneficial, but you have the baseline strength and relatively low weight to do well (At least to get past city finals. Obviously if you wanted to make serious run at Mt. Midoriyama you would try to get back to sub 150 and let your squat and DL go to ****). The amount of training that a random person or even most H&Fers would have to do to achieve respectability is much greater that what you will need.

I think you'd be fine on the warped wall after minimal training (under 1hr). Salmon ladder type stuff may take a little longer, but not much. I think the feature that really separates the pretty good from the very good competitors is grip strength. That would probably be something worth working on (and even if you don't do well, you'll have some jacked forearms to show for it). Maybe start by losing the straps on the DL.

Fakeb doesn't use straps anymore. It is I who lives and dies with straps. Hands are pretty smooth though. Like model.

Apologies FakeB, I guess I missed that. In any case, anything to do with grip strength will really help on some of the harder obstacles.
07-17-2014 , 01:57 AM
Snitch: I vote weightlifting and back/front squats.

Been listening to some if these albums on YouTube. Nothing I would probably buy (so far) but not bad.

Any singles in particular I should check out?

I have had the war on drugs in heavy rotation for a while now, the rest are new to me.

Give that album a listen IMO

This surprises me. Having never handled rehbands before, I always thought they looked a bit thin. I guess it is just the supportive stitching around the bottom.

Since 2009 I've worn my TKs in excess of 500 workouts. They are just now starting to develop the tear in the bottom near the seam that will lead to their demise. I figure I've got 3-4 more workouts in them.

I was ordering a few other things from elitefts so I picked up a pair of their sleeves. Haven't arrived yet.

Eh, I'd do this. 3 months is a good time frame for a crossfit break.

Just way oversell your shoulder injury. Tell them you're missing 2 rotator cuff muscles or something and can't do anything overhead or from a kip. If they're not retarts they'll make it easy enough to sub other exercises.
