Saw: Did you ever do Stochastic Processes as part of your EE PHD?
Yup, stochastic processes.

I have been watching you all week thinking we were friends. Close the fridge and come over to the window and let's talk about this.

I'm trying to make it to adistars 2016, despite my reasonably above average income and love of standing in a CF gym.

Nah I took it my first year in 2010. It was my all time favorite class lol.

Oh a glowing review! I've been told it helps a lot with phd continuous time finance theory and I'm considering taking it but I'm also lazy and don't really want to because I can barely handle undergrad real analysis.

Guardians of the Galaxy pretty damn good. Even French should get a chuckle. Except they are too busy promoting socialism to go see quality films.

It was a pretty good month to be 'merican, well done bros.

I'll see you in August - a month so terrible they named it after the Frenchman Caesar Augustus *shudder*

OP of next month is my sworn enemy!

Yea, tough for me to give good advice without knowing your field or the course content real well. The only analysis course I took was functional analysis which is totally 100% different and not comparable at all. I took "stochastic signals and systems" which was probability + signals and systems, which are probably my other favorite courses.

Functional Analysis is like the continuation of proof based linear algebra with vector spaces and **** but harder, right? Adv linear algebro is rapin me pretty hard too, I might get a C in a jr/sr undergrad level course. duurrrr

I'm getting so badly raped by the pure math that's not directly applied to finance/econ that I'm having serious doubts about doing a PhD even though I have a master's.

You're pretty close to finishing, right? Two H+F regs will have their PhDs in quantitatively rigorous disciplines with you and RUDIKULOUS. That's mindblowing.

What are the odds of that?

Would have to be in the millions.

I'm pretty sure he's done and has a new jerb with plenty of cash for hookers, blow, and Romaleos.

How much pure math do you actually have to take? Maybe I don't know enough about analysis but it seems a bit pedantic. I would think our fields are similar in terms of their use of advanced math (although that's total speculation), and if so, if you can tough out the couple of courses you should really be fine.

Stoch. is 1000x more practical imo. You actually get to results that are used every day, like deriving the matched filter, linear prediction, cross-correlation functions, stationarity, etc.

Someone please make the August thread. I'm too busy at work and can't look up good pics anyway.

I did find this sweet gif tho:

It was your job. But you're "too busy." Always on your schedule BtM! Never on ours. Ban.

wonder how many practice attempts it took to get that almost perfect precision right with that hoop

No August French rejoinder to the USA#1 July thread? Typical.

We all know that magic is just an illusion. My question is how the "magician" convinces the rabbit to teleport into the bottom of his top hat every time.
