Great debate though, thoroughly enjoyed an intelligent discussion.
Good for you.
Thailand is a beautiful place.
But with a deplorable political state.

The only way to get yourself out of debt is to earn more. The only way to earn more as a country is to produce and manufacture more. The only way to produce and manufacture more is to invest in people, their living standards, their ability to achieve; to invest in manufacturing, research and development and science. I believe all this is possible with strong leadership. I believe that day will come when the people of Britain are sick enough of the tossers in power, from whatever party they belong.

I'm logging off now, my eyes are hurting!! lol

Thanks for the intelligent debate, it's been fun!

Obv this thread doesn't belong here.

I was going to lock it, but it seems to have generated some decent debate. Should I merge it with the chat thread? Or just lock?

I'm in Canada... 'nuff said about winter. I'm heading to Scottsdale Thursday for my buddy's stag and we have a lot of golf tap.

I think it is overly optimistic to believe that we are out of the crisis.

That debt does not disappear - it results in a decline, temporary or permanently, in living standards - either via inflation or via contraction.
I dont believe this has taken place.

I would be very worried that the U.K. and U.S. adopted the Japanese approach to their financial crisis from which they have not yet recovered 20 years later.
+1. I agree with a lot of these points. Dig check out this book: http://www.amazon.com/This-Time-Diff.../dp/0691142165

This is simply not true. This is only one way to get a country out debt. The other ways are to default and/or devalue the currency.

for reference see Argentina circa early part of the last decade.

easy answer:
Because the ball doesn't go in the cup when I use one.

I have never figured this out, and my college teammates would make fun of me for it. Give me smooth face, or insert putter and I am fine...take that putter and mill the face and I can't make a putt.

Working on booking my Bandon Dunes trip right now.

Nice. Sick courses out there - definitely worthy of a major imo. I'm fired up for the U.S. Open this year --- Pebble Beach!!!! My all-time favourite course! Still jealous that you've played it, and I haven't.

Johnny Miller made an interesting point yesterday during the WGC regarding Tiger's comeback. He said that he thinks Tiger will have a better chance to win the Masters if he plays at Bay Hill. I think I agree with him, what do you think?

There should be a ultra-jealous emoticon... Full TR please.

With all the rain here out east I probably won't get on the course for another week or so...

I think this is a no-brainer for El Tigre. It is really hard- even for the best- to come back into major competition cold.

The Masters is a better venue for his comeback though. The ultra-restricted press plus the most well-behaved 'patrons' in golf should make it a much easier go.

Probably a tough decision with Arnie so heavily involved in BH with the added fact that it is basically in his backyard.

Not to continue that very long debate, but you have to take it in context to the whole discussion. I will amend it to "the only way to genuinely get out of debt..". Defaulting and devaluing is is somewhat artificial and potentially damaging.

I was just defending the three lions from the triggered debate!

1. This thread was largely dormant while the discussion was going on in the other thread, so there isn't too too much cross-talk in the merged thread.

2. The other was a no content thread. The alternative was locking it, and I thought, despite its beginnings, it actually generated some interesting debate. Not wanting to kill it, I merged it.

3. Because I can.

J-Mill does have a good point, but I don't think we have any idea what will happen. Don't forget he is coming off of major knee surgery, didn't play real well (for his standard) all BEFORE this hoopla. I think it really comes down to what he thinks of his wife. If he really wants to make his marriage work and be a real husband....etc. I don't think we will see Tiger dominate for some time if ever again. The life of a professional golfer is tough on a family and not a good environment for a person with a jealous wife. My buddy on the PGA Tour travels with his family to most of tournies in a Coach (I call it an RV, but I guess if it costs a lot you call it a Coach), but when he played in Palm Desert this year, he went by himself. I went out with him, his brother and his caddy to dinner and his wife must of called 4 times. Not b/c she thinks he is cheating, but b/c she is alone home with the kids and when she turns on the TV all she hears is this Tiger stuff.

If his family is just an accessory and he can go into some sanctuary mode on the Goff course, we could see his best year ever this year or next (if he is healthy, which I am not so sure about).

I have been really lucky that I have played some of the top courses in the US, from Pebble, Whistling Straights, Crooked Stick, Pine Hurst, etc. But I think one of the most underrated courses I have played is this one.

http://www.belfair1811.com/fazio_golf.htm

Solid course, and even though it is semi-private, you use to be able to play if fairly cheap in the Feb-March time frame mid week.

Tom Fazio is becoming one of my favorite architects.

I can't agree with this, even with the family drama. Not with the Augusta, Pebble, St. Andrews major rota this year. He's due for a Masters (although that may not be this year if it is his first tourney back.) No one touches him at Pebble or The Old Course. Whistling Straights is a crap-shoot if past history is any indications.

No one touches Woods if he is top form. He's hasn't played for a while and at 34, it is going to take him longer to get into top form than in the past. I don't know if golf tests for steroids, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go that route to recover faster.

It isn't so much as whether his family is an accessory or not (it pretty much was before obviously), but that he's going to get a lot more negative vibe from the press and galleries than he's ever dealt with. Remember, he's been getting cheers when golfing since he appeared on the Mike Douglas show at 3. That will be the hard thing for him to handle.
