i have never in my life encounter anti-Canadianism lol. just standard jokes at being a colony of the USA and saying "eh". but no one dislikes Canadians that i have ever met. small sample size ftw though. i really have only ever lived in new york city and its suburbs.

Yeah, in the Midwest no one really dislikes Canadians - mostly just jokes about them. But they are the same jokes we tell about Minnesota and Wisconsin - it being cold and people talking funny. Then again, I am sure the South tells those about us.

I feel more of a kindred spirit with canadians than I do with much of the US...they know our wintery pains

regional elections today in France (regions = states but with less power and no constitution cause its not federal), far right wing 11%, I will therefore pass on commenting about racism in the USA.

that said it is so good Sarkozy got his stupid *ss handed over to him

I've always been around Canadians. My home town attracts a lot of Canadian tourists by advertising in Canada, and I soldiered with Canadians many times. I have lots good and nothing bad to say about Canadian people. My view seems to be practically universal in this country, as far as I can tell.
The Canadian dollar at almost par is pretty enticing too.... I'm looking forward to it next week when I'm in Scottsdale.

BTW, that's cool you soldiered with Canucks. We're both doing good work in Afghanistan, which is a pretty tough spot.

LOL! I say eh all of the time, and always get busted on it while in the States. There's nothing wrong with harmless jokes --- I do it all of the time. However, it seems to me that some people have become more anti-American over the past 15 years. I think a big part of it is that some people in the country suffer from little man syndrome, even though most Canadians are pretty happy staying low key in world affairs.

In sum, the majority of Canadians really like the U.S. and Americans in general. Just take a look at the number of Canadian snowbirds that stay in the U.S. for 4-6 months every winter.

Is that 11% of the popular vote for the far right party? That is surprising, but I know a lot of European countries are struggling with xenophobic attitudes towards Muslims.

It depends on your motivation for commenting. Discussion of problems like racism are good assuming you are interested in solutions or gaining true understanding rather than simply attacking another person or something that other cares about (e.g. his country). If only perfect people (or members of perfect countries) had the right to criticize then nothing would ever be criticized.

The racism in France and the racism in the US is interesting to contrast. I think the racism against blacks in the US is closer to the racism against blacks in South Africa where as the racism against Africans in France is more like the US racism against South Americans (Mexicans et al.).

In the case of US & Mexicans, there is a fear of the immigrants coming in and "destroying the country" (in one way or another). A fear of being overrun. With blacks in the US, the racism stems from a historical culture of dehumanizing blacks so that slavery could be justified (or so that they could be subjugated in the case of South Africa). Does France have anything comparable to this type of racism?

+1

Every time we get ourselves into one of these scrapes and the Canadians and the British come to our aid, it reminds me that your countries don't get enough props from us often enough.

HAI GAIS

Sorry I haven't been around. I haven't been feeling well for the last week. Haven't been pokering, or surfing, or even going outside all week long. Bright side is I'm all caught up on my movie watching.

What did I miss? Cliffs?

Biggest flame war since Trapz was posting.
Barely dressed women.
Various whining about running bad.

Sammy, check out the sick putter I got this week. I was in the market for a high MOI putter and unfortunately for my wallet the only one that fit my eye was the Scotty Cameron Kombi.

Sweet.

I've always like Scotty's designs, but I don't like milled faces. I tried so hard to putt with with the classic Scotty Cameron but ended up staying with my trusted Anser 5ks.

write my paper?
03-15-2010 , 04:42 AM
Sure, but you will fail...

Edit: Well, that actually depends on how much you are willing to pay. If i write you a fantastic paper, how much are you going to pay? I'm actually a political nut! I hope to run for Member of Parliament for my local constituency one day.

It'll have to be worth my while to spend a day or so writing it. It needs to be +EV!

if youre serious, and actually know politics and can write a good paper pm me. or aim me/whatever we'll discuss a deal
03-15-2010 , 09:04 AM
Maybe we can swap 10%. I'll write one page of your paper and you write twelve pages of my dissertation.
03-15-2010 , 09:10 AM
Damn.. Are you doing a doctoral degree or something, DDAWD?

I don't have the time to help my man out, so if anyone else is interested please contact him. Unfortunately i'm out for most of today and don't want to leave it to the last minute for the poor fellow.

He needs 10-12 pages, Marx/Rousseau on alienation comparison. I think it's pretty straightforward if you know the subject and have the time.

There are a couple of other options but I think this one is the best.
