Tommy Angelo is the stone cold nuts. Elements of Poker is my favourite non-tactical strategy book by far.

Eight-fold path is awesome --- DC really stepped up their game by adding him to fold.

I encountered the craziest person yet at the laundromat. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say he looked and acted like this:

He was even doing that finger to his ear thing when I told him he can't leave his stuff and come back to chill after getting a $5 pizza at dominos. Thought I was going to have to call the man. I really wish I could have recorded him. Bat$hit insane.

mom just told me that she thinks my passport is expired 5 days before I was supposed to leave for a cruise to Mexico for 7 days. Spring break plans ruined, $550 most likely down the drain....feeling like this right now:

not sure how baller you are feeling...but there are services that will do a passport renewal in 24hrs...but you will pay out the ass for it
03-17-2010 , 10:11 AM
Or you can make an appointment and just go to an official office and do it same day etc
03-17-2010 , 10:17 AM
yeah I dont know about in the states but here if you have a ticket out of the country you can get an emergency procedure and essentially get a passport done in one (in Paris) or two (elsewhere) days, as long as you have all the documents you need. should be the same there.

Try to go with the expired passport?

That sucks though.

A friend of mine did something like this, years ago (pre 9/11).

A Hong Kong national, he left the US and went to Canada. He either had expired documents or lost them (I don't remember), and had a HELL of a time getting back in.

I might try the rapid renewal route first. You don't want to get stuck in Mexico. That would suck worse than not going.

Yeah you should definitely be able to get one in time. It will be expensive though depending on your location.

Obv here in DC we can get same-day service.

This was one of the first problems I discovered after joining 2+2

I swear, Hollywood has given me such a skewed image of laundromats. You know how many times I've seen hott girls in their underwear doing laundry?? Not once! Always crazy guys!

You're right... it was pre 9/11. Hmmm, maybe not as good an idea anymore. Though if you're a US citizen I can't see having any issue getting back in.

Of course, pre-9/11 you didn't even need a passport to travel to Mexico. Just a driver's license.

after calming down from my drunken rage I emailed my friend who knows everything about everything and apparently birth certificate+driver's license can replace the passport requirement so I'm not gonna need to shill out money money to have it renewed. But thanks for the advice everyone.

Yeah, wtf??? So lame. I could probably count the hot chics on one, maybe two hands after 8 months! One night a reasonable looking chic (by laundromat standards) was telling me she wished she could wash *all* her clothes and just do her laundry naked.

Spoiler:
A cheesey porn like plot did not unfold.
Spoiler:
Girlfriend was within earshot doing her laundry haha. Couldn't reply as wittily as I would have liked.

Pshh, you barely needed a license before if you "looked" American. I will never forget swinging by Nogales with my friend and walking back through customs with Oxycontin. He slapped down a "prescription" that a shady Mexican doctor had given him along with the pills and they barely even glanced at our licenses and the goods.

Driving, they would barely even make you stop:
"You guys have anything you shouldn't?"
"Just a bunch of alcohol..."
"You should really share it, go ahead."

Edit: Glad things are gonna work out Dabomb!

I have done this. It is not that hard. Even if things have changed, I'm sure the 24 hour (3rd party) service option is still there.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade here, but I would definitely double check that.

If I remember correctly (and I freely admit that I might not), you need a valid passport to get back into the US from Mexico. I think that this started like 3 years ago. They will still let you into Mexico without one; the problem will be on the way back.

I think that something similar started (albeit for both directions) with regards to Canada about a year ago.

I did some googling (to avoid doing work) and as it turns out, this may not be the case if you have a driver's license from Michigan, New York, Vermont or Washington. These states apparently issue something called "WHTI-compliant documents" which would work in the scenario that you described.

If you're not from one of those states, I would strongly consider expedited passport renewal, or applying for a passport card (not sure how this differs from an actual passport, if at all).

That information is out of date. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p...s/cis_970.html

Note that the airline will most likely not let you board the plane to begin with and no, they won't give you a refund.

I think that he's to go on a cruise...

Was out drinkin' the other night with the wife. She met this nice fellow and wanted me to meet him. She introduced me as "my husband who quit his job to play poker professionally." He spent the next 45 minutes describing his can't-fail roulette system.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
