FOR THE RECORD:

Rams +3
Chiefs+3
Jacksonville+7.5
Seattle +5.5

are my plays of the week

edit: rams chiefs and jags all fall into a category of games that hit ~75% every season. play every home dog if they are on a different playing surface than the visiting team. for example, colts +10 vs. steelers last week was my play of the week too (although i think it's only been like 4-2 or something this year). these are literally the only games i'll ever bet on bc it's +EV every single season since i started watching football.
I have the other side of the Jac and Sea games and I'm not betting the other two lol

It's really never worth betting on your own team in my view, especially when they're a favorite. You've put yourself in a position where your team could win a close game (and unlike college, in the NFL a win is a win) and you'd still be at least somewhat disappointed.

I also stay away from betting my own team because I doubt my own objectivity. I did correctly pick us to lose to SF and beat Arizona though (obviously the game at Pitt was a no-brainer), so maybe I've got my finger a little better on the pulse this year. Naturally that's easier to do when I've got a team that will go like 3-13 or 4-12.

I never bet on my own team although I would consider going against them on a moneyline in a championship game just for a slight emotional hedge. I dont really doubt objectivity though I dont have a record to track that except that Ive only been wrong about one GT ncaa tournament game ever.

I'd still be overall happy if Atl/GB won by 1 point this week.

Oh I get that. I mean, minus the sports bigamy part which is pure evil. But it tempers your enthusiasm I'm sure.

gives me something to root for since the braves choked on a porno-sized dick this past month.
10-02-2011 , 12:13 PM
You have something to root for: a team. One team. One team per sport. It's time to do the hard thing and dump one of them. Preferably the Packers since it makes no sense that you even started clinging to them to begin with.

it comes up around 20-25 times per season and hits like 15+. has won every year i've been watching (maybe 10 years now)
10-02-2011 , 12:22 PM
just ask yourself who you would root for if they played each other week one, and that is your answer.

He says that he truly somehow didn't root at all even when they played each other in the playoffs last year. That's insane and I can't even begin to identify with it.
10-02-2011 , 01:01 PM
brewers, badgers, packers. domination across the nation
10-02-2011 , 01:05 PM
Think I have to root against the Brewers just to keep Toph in check. He's bring all the substance to the table that Bears fans bring to sports conversations.

I just hoped that whoever won would go on to win the Super Bowl
10-02-2011 , 01:13 PM
That sounds like the dumbest ****ing approach to watching "your team" in a playoff game that I've ever heard of.
10-02-2011 , 01:26 PM
It'll be really tough to get past the Phillies though, thats for sure.

I have a huge amount of my fantasy players in this Pit v. Houston game, Arian Foster looking good and I'm loving it
10-02-2011 , 01:30 PM
ya i have pit D on my team but benched them this week b/c I thought he might tear it up

edit: and b/c i'm now playing the falcons d vs seattle lolz
10-02-2011 , 01:48 PM
One thing that Seattle isn't doing so far is turning the ball over, so for a bad offense they're not a gold mine to play a fantasy defense against. Maybe that trend changes today though, who knows.
10-02-2011 , 01:51 PM
christoph is pretty terrible but i still like wisconsin teams

did you actually go last night or did you sell your ticket like a wanker
10-02-2011 , 01:53 PM
sold it for 150
10-02-2011 , 01:57 PM
I like the Packers for now, and actually do like Wisconsin as well. I couldn't care less about the Brewers so I'll root against them just as an ego check on the state.
