Not an SEC homer by any means, but don't you guys believe both LSU and Bama should be above Oklahoma? The schedules will take care of themselves, but i believe those two teams just play at a higher level than the sooners
09-25-2011 , 04:46 PM
Bama for sure. Jury's still out on LSU.

That's going to be the national championship game though, when they play each other in a few weeks.

yes, probably should be higher. offense is so much better than its ever been. defense still leaves a lot to be desired but at least half the possessions now they look really good, the other half it looks like they have 8 players instead of the historic 10/90 split.

the only problem will be if they beat themselves. unc never stopped them and they have a really good defense. there was one possession inside the ten where tevin just dropped the ball while running, one pass that got picked because the receiver stopped, and then hill cramped up and dropped a td when no one was within 20 yards.

things are set up really good getting clemson/vt/uga all at home. of course they are going to do something stupid like always and lose a terrible game against virginia or something.

had him on my bench too. started eric aids decker at flex instead (also could have played brandon jacobs).

was just watching highlights at the bar and was somewhat relieved to see that moore had 2 two-point conversions, i thought those were TDs and I missed out on like a 30 point day. nothing sucks more than seeing my bench put up 11.4/14.1/18.8

yeah the worst part is I woke up at 10:55 and made the switch then if only I would have slept 5 more minutes...

Lance Moore on my bench too. I'm probably losing all 3 games this week, I have like 3 of the top 10 receivers in the league imo and damn they are ****ing me in some leagues.

If Mike Wallace has a huge game I'll win one though, and if him + big ben + mendy all do huge(like 20pts+ each) then I could win another... go pittsburgh!

Certainly LSU, with convincing wins over Oregon and West Virginia. Bama doesn't have a signature win yet this year so that call could go either way. As you said, the schedules will take care of themselves.

lol I def understand the last part. All teams from Georgia seem to do lately is **** up easy opportunities (wakethe****upbravesplzzzzz)

I think this week's rankings are a little meh. ASU got snubbed hard imo. I feel like 21 is about the right spot for tech, but that's only b/c they've been largely untested this season so far. You should be able to handle NCSt by ~2 TDs or so, but iirc (and I could def be wrong) they seem to play you guys tough whether they suck or not. Also... are they really that much worse this year than last year?? Either way, I fully expect Tech to be 7-0 down the road.

As for UGA, We're 7 point favorites at home vs Mississippi State this year, and I'm pretty sure that's only b/c they have waaaaay underwhelmed this season so far. I personally think we're going to get embarrassed at home.
09-27-2011 , 10:34 AM
Mississippi State, even with their backs against the wall last week, tried to lose to frigging Louisiana Tech. If not for their preseason ranking, which in hindsight was clearly way too high, there would be no evidence that they don't absolutely suck.

Not that I'm impressed with Georgia so far, but I definitely pick them to win this week. I'd have a hard time taking Mississippi State in a road game against anyone with a pulse right now.
09-27-2011 , 10:42 AM
Somebody tried to sell me a ticket to that game for $70 yesterday. yeah...no.

Also, they held LSU to <20 points, which UGA couldn't do in one half much less a full game. Not taking anything for granted at this point.
09-27-2011 , 10:43 AM
If you're paying $70 to go to that game, you'd better get to stand next to the head coach on the sidelines.

Not that rankings matter this early since theyve just got to keep winning, but while theyve been untested (although unc is probably a 25-40 range team) they have been dominating instead of the typical win with some miscues and bad defense.

Dont know how much you read SE or even want to filter thru the sea of crap for good info, but when tomco.llins isnt trolling he maintains a cool ranking system based solely on yards per play (gained and allowed), normalizing a teams stats to what their opponent gives up/gains on average. GTs 13.5 ypp against kansas was the highest ever in division 1 since 1990 which is how far back his database goes, just a sick number for one game.

uga and gt should win pretty comfortable this week but I cant trust either of them
09-27-2011 , 11:28 AM
the fact that you have to put a period in the guy's screen name to keep him from successfully searching for his own screen name is a prime example of why I don't read SE.

I spent a decent amount of time there during the world cup and tend to give it a chance about once a month, but I'm quickly reminded why I decide not to bother the other 29 days out of the month.

Georgia Tech mostly doesn't have to worry about much, given that if they run the table there's a good chance they'll play for the title. It is problematic, though, that they play in a conference that has trailed behind the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac-10/12 for a decent while now. That, combined with their weak OOC schedule, and they will get left hoping that the champs from all but one of those other conferences notch a loss at some point.

But all of that is a long way off from mattering anyway. For now they just need to keep executing.
09-27-2011 , 11:38 AM
Both Georgia teams have a pretty fortunate conference schedule this season imo. Pretty glad not to have to play bama or LSU this year obv
09-27-2011 , 11:42 AM
Yeah, too bad for Tech they didn't nab Boston College. They sure seem to be bottoming out in an absolutely horrendous way. Things have fallen off an absolute cliff since Matt Ryan left for the NFL.
09-27-2011 , 11:44 AM
If they win every game and get blocked by unbeaten lsu and oklahoma then I'm fine. Who knows what will happen but the key difference is finally having all offensive lineman recruited and coached up by johnson, they are quick pulling outside and have avoided all sloppy holding/crackback type penalties which kill a possession.
09-27-2011 , 11:45 AM
ugh you just reminded me of that ****ing offsides call in the falcons game with like a minute to go.

Meh, at least the Packers won. teehee

LKJ - when you said "play for the title" you meant ACC title right?
09-27-2011 , 11:50 AM
Well no, obviously there's no "if" about whether they'd play for the ACC title if they ran the table. I'm talking national title.

It's premature talk, granted...but that's the only reason their ranking would matter right now anyway.

Just because you can go to WSU games for free, doesn't mean everyone else's school works the same way.
09-27-2011 , 02:03 PM
Sick burn.

It wasn't free to get in, it was a mandatory fee against everyone's student accounts. I don't remember what the fee was, but since they assessed it against everyone it obviously lowered costs for those of us who wanted to go.

He's right though. $70 is absurd (even for a non-student ticket) for this particular game imo. The only people paying $70 for this game either have badass seats or will only be in town for one game and just want to see one in person.

we had some small "athletic fee" for everyone and then football tickets costed like 35 bucks extra
