No. As I said it's a huge margin, so I can't imagine there isn't actual support.

Curious to see whether US vaccination lags behind other countries and if so, whether/how those other countries capitalize on an uptick in medical tourism.

a nice foucault quote

"My optimism would consist in saying, “So many things can be changed, being as fragile as they are, tied more to contingencies than to necessities, more to what is arbitrary than to what is rationally established, more to complex but transitory historical contingencies than to inevitable anthropological constants"

at least, his optimism would seem to consist that way, at times, when he felt like it

I never understood the people who argued against Kaep saying how uncomfortable it made them to see what he's doing.

That is the entire point. If discomfort is not experienced the status quo will not change.

It also came up with Ferguson protests. They had like 100 days of peaceful protest no one ever cared about before the news we are all familiar with. People demand peaceful demonstrations because they can be easily ignored.

And it was entirely peaceful on his part.

Something that right wingers always said that the Minneapolis (and subsequent) protests should have been.

I can't count the number of times I was told "I support their right to protest, but not like this!"

The conclusion of ignoring people who are suffering and telling them they are demonstrating incorrectly is violence.

At what point does what trump is doing become sedition?

Trump apparently held the most important speech of his presidency today. Ah, so he must have finally arrived to the conclusion to that conceding with grace is the best way forward.

President Trump tweeted late Thursday he will veto the massive $740 billion National Defense Authorization Act, because Republican senators refused to include an amendment to strip legal protections for social media companies. Trump is demanding the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to punish Twitter and Facebook, which he has accused of censoring his false and misleading tweets about the coronavirus and the 2020 election.

The 230 stuff is hilarious because he would instantly be banned everywhere if they didn't have those protections.

you know how people talking about moving the administration to the left, like moving biden to the left.... have there ever been any examples of any politician being moved to the left?

Teddy Roosevelt founded the progressive party after deciding his Republican Party was too conservative (way before the party totally flipped over through its civil rights opposition).

One could (and I'm about to!) argue that the NDP party in Canada has - outside of a few provincial strongholds - accomplished nothing but move all politics left. They get just enough support for their policies to pull the other parties toward them to hold on to their voters.

The two party system has been holding the US back for decades

LBJ passed:
civil rights act of 1964
voting rights act of 1965
medicare

and more. He was a senator from Texas, probably not the Bernie Sanders of his day.
