Maybe we get it there as an offset go go go!!
as we mentioned around lunch this afternoon, a separate unemployment/Medicare bill far more likely given the rumblings of clean bills

UIGEA wasnt clean as defined here but that didnt stop anything once it became law...
clean is referring to the payroll tax cut itself...they want no bull**** involved so both parties can say to the people "we passed it"

well looks like I'm still having to get a job at the end of summer and Ipoker is never coming back.

This "it isn't the right time" bull **** is getting old and it's starting to seem like more of a string along than anything.

UI and medicare kind of have to pass, cutting off U.I. right now is not going to happen.

Medicare, is a big doctor payout cut. AARP will make sure that bill happens, I guess it is just a matter of how much pull Reid has, if Kyle wants states to not offer gambling and as in poker the luck of the next card to fall. Nice though we still have some stack to work with on another run at the prize.

IMO, I think even if Reid and Kyl are in agreement, we're going to have to rope in some tribal support and potentially some lottery support before this can sneak this through as an attachment unless we get a really unlikely perfect storm of circumstances (bill the House GOP REALLY wants passed that Reid/Obama find acceptable but dont need to pass per se).

Kyl is the toughest piece of the puzzle though, and there's enough here to surmise that Reid and Kyl are, at the least, very close. If that gets done, good chance we get a good sweat at some point this year. I dont think this is the sweat, I doubt anything is imminent, and we're definitely still real underdogs, but reasons for cheer this week.

Yep I'm mellow now. It's not the end of the world. I'm happy with dog scraps (State legislation) which seems much more likely to happen sooner right now.

I hope everyone realizes that UI insurance and the "doc fix" are both set to expire at the end of the month. Potential vehicles that will pass very soon.

Did I miss something? Earlier today CNN was reporting they were close to a deal for the tax cut, doc fix, and unemployment insurancecombined into one bill. Is it looking like they are going to split the payroll tax cut apart from the other two?

they've been talking about doing these separately since yesterday...nobody knows, not really worth wasting too much brain power on it

as clayton points out on twitter, i perhaps misread this (i should read the whole article rather than quotes), and they were referring to the payroll bill

I'm as disapointed as anyone but blaming the PPA is wrong IMO. It's our elected officials who are too tied up in their own bull **** to get anything done.

Lawmakers inching closer to payroll tax cut deal

Important distinction imo...

Quote:
Lawmakers are apparently inching closer to an agreement on a bill or bills that would extend the payroll tax cut, emergency unemployment benefits and the Medicare reimbursement rate for doctors through the rest of the year with time running out to reach a deal before they expire the end of the month.
