That's not what you've told me before imo. Before you've said if you had it your way, things would be pretty much exactly as I advocated (online poker free from government regulation, consumers regulating the sites themselves through the free market)

I just hope this whole hush-hush thing is done so as to get iPoker the least attention possible. I mean those are like the ultimate High Stakes, so it's pretty safe to assume those people are playing this strategic, positional game outside the Senate Hall (or wtv you call it) as hard as inside...

this is why it is good if they can advertise it as a casino ban instead of a poker legalization. everyone wins.

Except for those who, you know, don't want casino games banned.

Funny how doing something is resulting in UIGEA II imo.

And here we go. I figured LirvA would come out of his hole at some point.

If "UIGEA II" means that I can get access to licensed and regulated poker then I'll take it and thank say thank you sir may I have another.

Sorry, I'm not trying to derail. Just replying to some posts imo. god forbid there be opposing opinions in this forum.

Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. I spent all night at work thinking something great might go down when I got home, and so far that hasn't been the case. Maybe when I wake up in the morning. Good night.

It's been a fun ride but I'm just going to convince myself that this is not going to happen so I can emotionally freeroll this ****.

This thread isn't about opinions. It isn't about government controls, or opt in/out, or rake, or what the bill should look like...

It is a sweat about whether it got attached or not. So opinions and politics don't need to be here.

There are plenty of other threads that you can troll. I am sure you are familiar with them all.

I'm not sure you know what the definition of trolling is.

Do I understand this correctly? If this is attached and passed, there can be no mark ups or amendments to it, and however it is written now will be the law of the land?

I've gotten in touch with a few congressional reporters who are all over this tax cut bill. They seem very interested in this story and I've gotten a lot of "I'll look into this" responses but so far nobody has confirmed anything.

I am not sure you understand the definition of this a thread that is just sweating the attachment, not a discussion of how the bill is architected, or how online poker should be regulated, or any other discussions of should it or should it not be legal.

There are other threads for that, go troll them

reported.

Awesome work, sluggger.

That's much better than hearing a flat-out "no."

It also means that I'll be working late again tomorrow after having wasted a good 10% of my day refreshing my browser.

I love the sweat and as much info as I can get, but I do also think that they may be keeping this quiet for a reason.

That's a mechanism.

Libertarianism does not work without a means for enforcement of contracts. In fact, truly free markets don't really work at all without a legal structure in place to facilitate contract enforcement. I'm not talking about new laws here (though the Barton Bill would create new laws aimed at consumer protection). Rather, I'm talking about courts which would simply enforce the terms entered into by the parties.

The way things are now, sites enforce contracts unilaterally on players, but players have no recourse at all to enforce any terms on sites.
