Payroll tax cut, unemployment benefits: Congress nears deal

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/72869.html

States that unemployment extension will be payed for with cuts elsewhere. Still uncertainty regarding whether it will all be in one bill. Some stating a preference that it could all be hashed out in committee and fast-tracked.

Can anyone glean anything else from this?

If there were ever a perfect vehicle outside of a lame duck session, this is it. Depending on how they score it, they could easily wrap online poker revenue in as an offset.

Hmmmm no talk of it in the breaking news about a deal being done in post #576 with source.

Yes Reid has been shot out of the sky twice trying this stupid parlor trick.

The House Republican leadership saying they are now ok with just adding 100 billion to the debt to pay for the tax cut here just goes to show how motivated they are to not get owned by the Democrats again on this issue. This is pure political defense on their part. If they are willing to go against their core principle of paying for it, they are not going to then put up a fight if they are faced with another version of the bill that includes Reid/Kyl.

Reid and Kyl are going to take advantage of this to get what they want. If a clean bill gets over to the senate, the senate will say: "We need to adopt this tax cut in conjunction with unemployment benefits and the doc fix". Then they send back to the house a bill with those in there and Reid/Kyl (and some other noncontroversial stuff). At this point in the game the house will pass it. And we will play online poker again with a multi million person player pool with different major companies competing for our action

It took me a while to figure this out. If you ignore trolls, they usually go away, not to mention it makes threads much easier to read.

That would be suicide for the Dems. Independent voters are not happy with the budget, not happy with the spending. In essence the DNC has done what they accused the GOP of. Holding people hostage. Obama promised to make real cuts and reform entitlements and the tax structure. Which even the left media now is reporting he flipped on. If Reid tries this he will get called on it. Kyl is retiring he could care less about anything.

If Reid outs himself as using this important bill (which I can guarantee has a clause favoring his state) it will be bad for the DNC. Who now has no way of coming back from the Jimmy Carter agenda of taxing ppl like Sheldon Adelson 70% and letting entitlements and spending just explode.

What happened? Inflation, record fuel prices and exactly what is happening now.

Hows that hopey changey stuff working for ya?

But what he says doesn't even mean anything. He just keeps typing hundreds of words that make no sense.

I can't discuss national politics with people like yourself because quite frankly you don't understand how it works nor care.

You hail from the class that felt playing online poker was a birthright which we found out the hard way it wasn't and won't be. It's something to be governed and that takes laws. Laws are passed a certain way.

Do some research on the topic. It would be enlightening even though it doesn't jive with your "It's my right" routine.

Watching CNN now - and they say that there is a deal very near on the payroll tax cut.. the big takeaway for me was that they said the payroll tax will not need to be paid for - but the jobless benefits package as well as doctors who serve Medicare patients would avoid seeing their payments cut at a cost of $20 billion would be paid for by making cuts in the budget... but they didn't mention anything about off-setting payment for these issues with adding anything to pay for them. At any rate, a deal is certainly very near - possibly within hours. What could this mean for Ipoker being attached? less likely?

if poker revenue is included in estimates for budget neutrality, i would expect the poker details to be leaked long before its voted on, i.e., in the next day or so if they reached an agreement.

if poker revenues do not matter, it would be a lot easier for Reid/Kyl to keep it under wraps until the day its voted on.

though i just saw a tweet indicating that the payroll tax cut would get its first vote tomorrow?

I wanted offshore online poker banned. I am all for it being hosted, regulated and taxed in the US and no I don't suck. Positive ROI here my friend.

It won't be attached. Reid has little input in the big legislation and is being led around by the WH. It was proven in the grand bargain leading up to the deal in which he didn't even know Obama was talking to the GOP trying to get a deal done.

Reid is a pro politician with no credibility. He would have lost his last election if Angle didn't release that racist ad after the debate.

Please go troll a different thread. Your opinions, aside from being factually incorrect, have no place in a discussion about the possible inclusion of iPoker to the payroll tax holiday. The lala land you live in where moderates and independent voters will somehow only be aware that Obama's budget raises revenues without paying for it if Reid attaches iPoker is laughable.

And yes, we know, run away inflation is right around the corner.
