Coming out of Lurker status to post in this amazing thread. I will ship you something for the pleasure this thread has given me as you let us experience your highs and painful lows along with you. All the best man, hang in there we are rooting for you!

This is also a great example of the flip side of what can be a horribly brutal anonymous internet community.... but then this thread comes to life and the world feels a bit smaller.

Thankyou so much man. It's people like you that encourage me to keep writing in here, despite the risk. You can ask me anything about my time in here, hell you can even ask me how my Goldeneye run is going! I'm grateful to have supporters like you.

No requests, and I'm in the camp of the people that say 'no more pics because i don't want you to get fk'd by the evil nurses running this thing'.

Thread highlights for me so far are the mention of one of your roommates giving up on the N64 because of Water Temple....that **** is ridiculous. Between goldeneye and zelda you should have a few days worth of entertainment locked up. Online walkthrough that water temple imo...

I enjoy reading your daily updates, keep them coming even if you think they're boring. If you're into 'out there' movies and burning time, see if you can download 'Enter The Void', 2009 flick that I just watched that I enjoyed. Some of the scenes go on and on though and it might not be your thing, but there are some very nice nipples in it as well so it can't be a complete waste.

Cheers! (for when you can drink again).

Oh and I know a couple friends who have done this sort of thing, and they had no side effects and they did this years ago, so I wouldn't let all the paranoia itt bother you too much. Life is short anyway.

You're right, he probably concocted this story, then snuck into a hospital bed to take a few grainy pictures and cackled with glee at the thought that people wouldn't be able to resist sending him a bit of cash for some 3$ MTTs.

Yeah man, I'm so keen to put up some more pics but as you know I'm trying not to overplay my bankroll :P (Anyone sick of these lame poker jokes yet?)

Hell yeah Water Temple is sadistic. I destroyed that game back in the day, did everything there was to do. So far I've been playing the most kick ass SNES RPG that exists: Lufia II. I've gotten about 75% of the way through, and have made it level 99 of the Ancient Cave (Please tell me someone else knows what I'm talking about). Anyone into old school games, download it asap. Currently on Goldeneye, Trying to nail it on 00 Agent.

Yeah man I'm a massive movie geek. Started watching Inception with the guys but stopped after 10 minutes cause I wanted to watch it alone and give it my full attention, seems like an awesome flick. It's hard to download sh*t on this net connection but I'll see about getting Into the Void, specially if there's booby. Stay tuned bro!

And cheers to reedy22 for the killer railing!

5 *s for this epic thread.

I love the description of your roommates. Even the 42-year-old plays poker!

Goldeneye on N64 is a true classic. You can look forward to both that and Inception.

Oh, and shipped $3.30 on FTP for a tourney. Keep us posted on results. GL!

Thank you very much!! My Tilt roll was dry so it'll be sick to be able to crank one of their donkaments.

Just played like a champ in a $2 PLO $500 guarantee on Stars. Finished 13th out of 289 players when my AAK4 lost to A9K4 and sadly only made $7.80, very dissapointing as I was set to place top 3 easily. But played well, never tilting, never playing junk and rarely making dumb moves.

Upped my MTT buy-in limit from $3.30 to $4.40. Won 2 straight $6.50 sng's too. Mental focus is sharpening and I feel good things coming, with any luck I can negate my poor start from last week.

Thanks to all who are supporting me!

Awesome read man! Keep them coming, some stories from your roommates would be nice

A bit of advice : I think your tilt/gambling problems can't just go away even if things are better now you're basically dealing with the effects of them and you need to deal with the causes. So I think after you get out you should find a cool shrink / support group and join, and educate yourself as much as you can on dealing with / getting rid of tilt.

Tommy Angelo is a great source of that, his Eightfold Path series on DC and I hear his poker book too (tho I haven't read it)

Had a great day yesterday, added about $70 to my BR. Won a $6.50 6-man, a $6.50 9-man, came 13th out of 289 in a $2.20 MTT, donked off two $3.25 6-mans but then won 2 x $6.75 husng's and took down another $6.50 6-man, so after a poor start doing stupid sh*t like taking shots with my entire bankroll I've been slowly but consistently building it up with the generosity of you guys, bankroll is up to $501

Tilt is my worst enemy. The best short term method of dealing with it has been to utilize pokerstars' table limit/buy in restrictions to ensure that I play with BRM. But I do definately want to learn how to not to tilt cause yeah, when I tilt I'm basically just giving my money away.

"The Poker Mindset" has excellent advice on dealing with tilt, downswings, BRM etc.

What's DC again? Is it a site like CR?

I'm not sure if you're being ironic or modest about your skill level but remember that no amount of BRM and tilt control will stop a losing player from losing. It will probably take longer, but focusing on BRM and your mindset might not be the only thing you need to have succes.

I'm not saying your a losing player after you become a monk-robot, just that The Poker Mindset maybe isn't the only book you need to read

Also you seems like your all over the place with the games you play. While i agree that SNG/MTT is probably the most reasonable thing to do when you have had a lot of tilt issues - I think it would be wise for you to find a more narrow range of games and try to make that your "bread and butter". When you own everybody at the 180s and 45s you can expand to other games from there, like HU which obv. is a totally different ballgame (though it will also help you a lot when you're shorthanded/HU in your MTT/SNGs)

Again, it's a great thread and GL with everything!

Just thought I'd say a few things on these studies, mainly in regards to risk, etc.

In the state where OP is doing this there is an ethics board that these studies have to pass through. One of the rules this ethics board enforces if that the companies must NOT PAY BASED ON RISK. They can only pay based on time taken, inconvenience and amount of blood taken. You could be testing a drug that stops all testosterone being produced in your body for a few weeks and is replaced by artificial hormones (this was an actual test) or you could be testing a new pain reliever and you could possibly get the same amount of money for the same time period. Again, pay is not based on risk.

This is definitely possible. Hooked up with a nurse from there about 4 years ago, but she doesn't work there any more and it wasn't during a study, but we met in there.

Unfortunately most the nurses tend to be 40+ and rather large. Still you get a few cute twenty somethings.

Get on it OP.

Whats even crazier is how much you hate on Jared Huggins and all the people who support him and then randomly ship this guy money (who is obv going to lose it). LOL

What is the over under on this being some kind of warped "gambling problem awareness" announcement where this guy gets worse by like 24 and stops posting?

Is anyone else in there actually funding their gambling with this money? or are they just bored?

...

Edit: I think you could have made some extra money if you made this into a warped prop bet.

Good advice man. My game definately needs a lot of improvement, and I have heaps to learn, but I know that I have potential to be a solid player. If I didn't believe this, I would have quit by now. The time I've played in here has helped my game a lot. I've been very happy with the majority of my playing, and have picked up on a few of my weaknessess, like me penchant for playing low wraps even when 3bet into and hands with danglers etc.

Ouch.... just became 1st player knocked out of a 6-man to a freakin 1-outter... Oh well. *Enagaging monk robot aint-tilt powers*

The primo ones these days are late 20's - mid 30's, most with partners. If the nurse you hooked up with was was the 20 something that started with 'S' then you sir are a lucky dog :P

I think most of them may put a small amount towards their bankroll, but none of us are getting paid until mid-March.

You're probably right but I didn't make this thread with the intention to get any money from it. I was just sick of feeling alienated by my situation and thought that if there was any place (apart from GA) where I could tell my story and perhaps get some help getting back on track, that it was 2+2.
