At this point in his career im not sure if there are too many fights i want to see Silva have. At the weekend i was dreading him getting beat up by Stylebender and dont really want to see him fight any other top contender in the division. Theres no real point in fighting some middle of the pack no name either so in terms of his next fight Nick is actually one of the few fights for him that i think makes sense. Plus im in favour of giving Silva the fights he wants for the few fights he has left.

Uriah Hall would be a good fight.

David Branch or Brad Tavares I wouldn't mind seeing either.

Yeah, I'd like to see him face Uriah Hall. That was supposed to take place back at UFC 198.

This weekend's event looks pretty good. Way way way better than this last PPV card.

Cain line moving down. Was -240 and now -180.

Wonder if there are questions about his health. I can't imagine he is close to the same fighter after being off for most of the last 5 years.

Brock Lesnar came off a 4 and a half year layoff from the sport, 6 years removed from his last win and completely destroyed Mark Hunt.

Cain was an absolute beast when he was healthy.

Ngannou is terrible. That fight against Lewis was one of 5 worst fights I've ever seen.

With the layoff, it kind of makes sense that the odds would align with Cain/JDS III.

If Ngannou is going to win, it's going to look like the first Cain/JDS fight, and that's what it looked like against Blaydes. Cain is going to roll tho.

Caveat: Brock wasn't away due to injury.

Looked like Kimbo vs Houston Alexander.

Cheick Kongo put it on Cain. Werdum was piecing him up, that's why he ended up shooting. He's seemingly always been hittable.

Ngannou is Bob Sapp tho, there's not much technique there.

He can be sloppy for sure but Ngannou's technique is much cleaner than Bob Sapp's and his one punch knockout power is not even comparable.

Ngannou’s run to the title shot was so fun that i still want to believe in him. He clearly wasn’t right mentally in the lewis fight and I thought there was no coming back but i rate blaydes so that win gives me hope. I do think it’s likely cain exposes him like stipe does but hopefully it’s more competitive

Ngannou was afraid of getting clipped against Lewis. Even his fight against Stipe was mostly boring. He's a one-trick pony. Tends to happen when you start learning how to fight at 22. It's a hell of a trick but once Cain takes Ngannou to the ground it's over.

If Ngannou trained at AKA he would be the greatest hw of all time. Sadly, nobody in France can prepare him for Cain nor DC's wrestling.

If Ngannou trained at AKA, he'd be injured 90% of the time.

Just read his biography. I'm a huge fan now, and I'm fully on the FRANK train

Looks a little soft and out of shape

Not sure, but in the fight game that's a much better body type to have than Ngannou's.

I've always been fascinated by that - you'd think the top weight champ at boxing/MMA would be some huge muscleman but obviously cardio and speed issued has held them back. Saying that though, Anthony Joshua and Vlad Klitschko were specimens and I wouldn't mind betting that in 30 years or so it will be hard to imagine a top weight champ who doesn't look like that.

For now though DC is champ so I'm not concluding anything about Cain's shape!

don't know if that's going to be accurate unless MMA fighters make way more comparatively than they make now

basically, there's a limited supply of extra large humans. extra large humans who are extra athletic, strong and coordinated are sought after in many sports and not many extra large humans prefer to get punched in the head for a living

There is something in that for sure, but it only takes a small number to choose the sport (some will grow up with it, or just like it).

When I was a kid I remember reading this very old book about this Italian heavyweight (in the black and white TV days) who was regarded as a giant - a real lumbering freak of nature. If he was around now he'd be nothing freakish at all, just a slow large heavyweight. Henry Cooper, one of the most famous heavyweights ever in the UK, was always less than 195 pounds I believe.

Heavyweight is the exception because it's the only division where a majority of fighters' walk-around weight is below the weight limit. No need for a legit cut.

Sorry, should have clarified. When I said fight game I was specifically talking about MMA. It's clearly a prohibitive body type to have in MMA. The majority of top MMA fighters have the will power to get in more aesthetically pleasing shape and would do so if they thought it was useful. Reminds me of strong men. Brian Shaw, Halfthor Bjornson, Eddie Hall, none of these top guys are super cut.. at least not when they are competing.

Left: Eddie Hall in competition shape when he was setting deadlift world records and won the World's Strongest Man Competition. He looked like this at least through January of 2018.

Right: Eddie Hall in 2018 after retiring from strongmen competitions
