Nobody realistically thought Lewis had a shot beyond a miracle. Coming off of short rest against possibly the best MMAer of all time is a recipe for a loss.

Better fight than it could have been because Lewis was standing for more than a few seconds.

lmao DC calling out Lesnar for the WWE belt.

Lesnar coming back to get fed to Cormier in some freak show is so lame.

Cormier/Stipe rematch should be next.

Rockhold vs. [Whittaker-Gastelum loser]: Fits logically and is also a fresh match-up between top-5s regardless of the outcome of the title shot. Will also be in mid-2019 at the earliest so gives Rockhold a chance to heal up this apparently nagging injury.

Adesanya vs. Romero: Adesanya deserves a top-5 so that leaves either Romero or Weidman. Honestly I don't want to see Weidman lose again. (This is if Romero stays at MW. He should probably move up.) If Romero moves up, let Rockhold take a tune-up fight against someone ranked 6-12 or so when healthy and give Adesnya the Whitaker-Gastelum loser.

Weidman vs. Costa: Costa deserves a test. The Romero fight was actually an interesting match of talented USADA evaders but this still makes sense and could also serve as an okay rebound for Weidman.
Romero can't even make 185 anymore & Weidman shouldn't be taking fights vs a guy like Costa, Costa would ko him into another dimension at this point. I wouldn't mind a Israel vs Costa for #1 contendor match after Jacare gets his title shot next, title or not i think it's the most exciting matchup the UFC can make in the 185lb division.

That will be the next fight if Lesnar fails a doping test. If JJ beats Gus in December i'd rather see JJ vs DC for hw belt than vs Stipe though.

On Romero, sure that's fair. I don't think Israel vs. Costa makes sense (unless some drama gets stirred up between them for some reason), as they are rising stars on their own separate paths at this point. Also Costa is more than one win away from a title shot (unless he fights and beats a top-3, I suppose, but I don't think a win against Israel would be quite enough for him).

I just want the UFC to help Israel avoid wrestlers en route to a title shot. Even Weidman who just got ko'd and is having a hard time in his last 5 fights is a terrible matchup for Israel & i think Israel probably loses. Israel vs Jacare or vs Rockhold makes sense i guess. Btw, i'd love to see Mousasi back in the mix at 185lbs in the UFC, would be so awesome.

Cormier said he wants to retire at 40

That's march, so that's only one fight left and he obviously wants it to be brock.

Mousasi isn't in the UFC, he's in Bellator now.

They just traded DJ for Askren, anything is possible, i hope he gets traded because 185 is hot in the UFC & i think Mousasi is the best.

Mousasi is better everywhere than Whittaker & Romero only has a punchers chance. People underestimate the 185lb king, Mousasi have beaten heavyweights in the past, he's an asbolute monster.

Does Weidman's loss strengthen the case for him moving up to 205? I don't think he's ever missed weight at 185, but there are indications that he's struggling to make that weight. When training for Rockhold he was deliberately walking around lighter than normal, and he has looked smaller in his halcyon days. He may be less chinny at 205 and have more in the gas tank. He can't seem to keep up with the physical monsters at middleweight; it's crazy that the 38-year old Souza, who had taken plenty of damage, had greater reserves than a guy four years younger than him who's been in far less fights.

Souza gassed in his fight with Kelvin. He recently moved to Orlando and I think he hired new strength and conditioning coaches. He looked much stronger and much more gas in the tank. I think this was more of a case of Souza looking really good than Weidman looking bad. His cardio and chin looked incredible. He may be on new “Mexican supluments” as well...

Weidman was up on the cards before the KO, so yeah, wouldn't say he looked bad there.

Also, Jacare had a rough weight cut before the Gastelum fight. The hotel he was staying at had no sauna (they probably lied or something prior, because I can't see him making such a trivial error), so he had to run the weight off unplanned.
