From everything I've heard, people think that the shots Faber landed were significantly harder than the one's Cruz landed. This may be something that Rogan and Goldberg, sitting ringside, may be able to pick up on better than those watching on tv.

Seriously how does this thread not get a bump in 2 weeks, especially following the Hendo knockout of Fedor? rigged

I'm still as stunned from that KO as Fedor was. I handled watching Fedor suffer two losses... but seeing him get flattened like that.... it's just so weird.

Bit gutted myself that the only two times I seen Fedor he got beat, now I'll never really know for myself how good he was.

For sure the stoppage was correct, Fedor looked out cold.

Rarely does this thread get used during the fights, more traffic in EDF.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but anyway:

For someone with no martial arts experience whatsoever, what would be the best thing to start with? At this point I don't want to compete or anything, I just want to be able to defend myself. I've never been in a real fight before nor do I plan on it anytime soon, it's just something that would be nice to have just in case.

i wouldnt want to use bjj for defense unless im sure theres only 1 guy i need to worry about.

Boxing seems like a better choice if its purely for self defense.

I agree with boxing and BJJ as the best choices. Wrestling would be great to. The problem is that everyone thinks BJJ = fighting off your back. Even a average BJJer knows more grappling then a average guy, and I would be trying to put a guy on his back ASAP in a real life situation. You are spot on about the 1 on 1 thing though.

That said I train BJJ and Boxing primarily. I wish I could get some quality wrestling instruction in my town.

didnt follow the discussion but think that it was assani who wondered why there was a heavyweight weight limit at, i believe, 250lbs. personally i want to know who the guy is who is the best fighter in the world and want an unlimited division. i want to know the one man in the entire world who u know is the best if u had to have one guy defend ur cave or 2 guys in a dark alley who is the best!! and if he is 6'7 550 so what...

watching the prelim on spike. used to get all the fight but havent really been into it for last year or so but the main card looks horrible what does iceman have the winner of tito rashard?

there arent any athletic guys at 300+

what about a guy built and as athletic as shaq. or andre the giant lol look i dont know what i am talking about but it seems kinda arbitrary to say 300 is the max that someone cant fight effectively when being heavier and stronger is a huge advantage in fighting. besides they cut off at 250. even think a league of superheavyweight fighting sport that could convince the public because it would be true that their champ is the baddest man on the planet would have some appeal.

modified: There aren't any humans at 300+ that are both athletic enough to be a world class fighter and who also have enough cardio to be a world class fighter.

Bob Sapp is the best example. For a few short minutes, he was the best fighter in the world! Until he used up his 90 seconds of insane bezerker energy. Then he was practically a little kitten in a 350 pound body.
