I don't get this. Even in some states where Trump won, many republicans won those states by a higher percentage of the vote than Trump did. McCain is a good example. He carried AZ by 53.4% while Trump got 48.1%. Granted, Trump got more individual votes, but McCain seems more secure in his job than Trump in that state. And I'm sure many other states are similar.
If anything Trump's disapproval ratings has increased since the election (even among Republicans). So why do these guys have to worry about Trump's base? Maybe I don't understand math/politics, but it seems to me that in many of the closer states Republicans could (and should) drop Trump and not only wouldn't it hurt them, it would be the higher EV play for the next election.
