The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Trump just trying out new material before his Comedy Cellar appearance next week

Markets reacting fairly strongly. Doesn't mean a ton yet, but you could certainly say it means the issue is more significant than if there was nothing more than twitter outrage.

On one hand, I'm sure the rank and file GOP would love Trump being gone because Pence has none of Trump's populist ideas but all of his conservative ones.

But on the other hand, there is no way that Trump's base (call it 10-20-30% of the GOP, whatever) is going to take this. There may even be social unrest if he were to be impeached and there would be deep distrust for whoever advanced their career by standing on the shoulders of Trump's impeachment.

Pretty fascinating if this is more than an nothing burger.

So...all these Republican house dopes including Ryan think now is a good time to go on the mike and blabber about tax reform and other legislative goals while ignoring the events of the past 24 hours? What is this?
05-17-2017 , 10:11 AM
Obfuscation? Deflection? Other words that sound smart?
05-17-2017 , 10:16 AM
How many times have we said "OK, this time he MUST have crossed the actual line!" and been wrong? Until he loses the support of enough people to **** up elections in the legislative branch, taking into account gerrymandering and voter suppression, there's no way anything really happens. Legal admissibility aside, Trump voters be like "LOL memos gtfo".

The day is still young, give it time. Should have written it as "this hour" at the rate all this crazy bull**** keeps happening.

How many times have Republicans said "We don't know if that's true" and been proven wrong by Trump himself? In a world full of fake news and unfounded rumors, anti-Trump chatter has been surprisingly accurate. Wouldn't you agree?

Reason: There's sooo much low hanging fruit that the need to make things up is wholly unnecessary.

No it doesn't. Because they didn't.

Go and read the petition yourself (https://www.change.org/p/trump-is-me...=petition_show). You can sign it too if you like. Read the comments left by other people that signed it.

This '50k mental health professionals say Trump is unfit to serve story' is false. Not misleading, not exaggerated. Completely and utterly wrong.

Anti-trumpers/the resistance/sane people/whatever, for ****'s sake we have to be better than this. It's a disgrace that the New Yorker is putting this about based on a change.org petition. And it's shameful for anyone to blindly believe it and parrot it. Do better. This is a complete crock.

Agree, and I've been buying "no" shares. Even if they do impeach him, the investigation and hearing are gonna take time. I think 80% of the yes equity comes from stress-induced health problems. 70-year-old fat guy who's screaming obscenities all day in his office has a non-trivial shot at blowing a gasket.

bc trump still has bigly great approval ratings from his voters. if they piss off that base then they can kiss their jobs gbye.

Heh I'm still not entirely convinced that is a real person. He makes Jeff Lord look like Trump's biggest critic.

Agreed. There is definitely "fake news," for lack of a better term, on the left and we would do well to all be more critical with our sources going forward.

Does Predict it have a market on him catching a case of polonium poisoning?

I don't claim to be an expert on the Middle East but Trump's alleged proposal for an "Arab NATO" seems like a ship that sailed 20+ years ago.

Of course now Paul Ryan has found the real villain in all of this: James Comey. Why didn't he report the sexual harassment, I mean obstruction of justice coming from his boss immediately. Obviously Congress would have taken that Very Very Seriously (TM).

TROOF

Also this basically confirms the Comey memo.

Imagine going through life with one-half the intelligence of Donald

Aren't we basically a lock to be going to war with North Korea before the 2020 election? They're expected to have the ability to fire nukes at the US mainland by then. Just saying that having Trump as POTUS at that time is unthinkable. What we're seeing now is a drop in the bucket compared to (as others have pointed out) any kind of medium to major crisis.

"Let the facts lead us where they may." (while ignoring all sorts of Trump-confirmed facts)

Also, whether Congress takes it seriously is beyond the point because they are compromised and Comey knows it.

It was my quote, thought The New Yorker fell under credible source.

Don't know how long that can last. He was literally tortured by the country's enemies to give up secrets and stayed quiet, then 40 years later he's watching a guy give up even more sensitive information while boasting over dinner. If it were me I'd already have punched the guy in the face.

The conversation of the 25th amendment's history and avenues by which Trump could be removed form office is interesting, but the significance of mental health workers openly voicing such an opinion is truly remarkable. The Goldwater Rule was created to prevent this very thing, so it speaks to how obviously crazy Trump is that 50k people would purposefully violate it out of a sense of duty. Fascinating stuff.
Does Trump even have 14 confirmed Cabinet members? I'm honestly not sure.
