That suit probably cost $2500. He only got to wear it once too.

-passed legislation that allows ISPs to sell your information

-rolled back health standards for school lunches

Forget Russia and the grifting for now, I just want obvious things that affect people's lives. There's a lot more but it's slipping my mind for the time being, help me out. This is the kind of thing that can be presented to your local Democratic Party and used for propaganda.
This is taxpayer money (a LOT of taxpayer money) being spent to imprison millions of people. We already have the second highest incarceration rate in the WORLD but I guess Jeff Sessions is going for the record. Oh, these laws are affecting white people as well more and more as they get caught up in the War on Drugs either through weed, opiates, or whatever else. And because of the criminality of all of this, addiction is going untreated. That ties back into the RepubliCare bill as well--people are OD'ing and committing suicide at record numbers due to the opiate crisis and the RepubliCare bill would take away key resources that are already slim that people fighting addiction rely on.

Sessions restores tough drug war policies that trigger mandatory minimum sentences

Three months ago, he heard chants of "DO YOUR JOB".

Today, he says "**** that; I'm out".

LOL GOP.

My impression is that the US military leadership realizes the Kurds (and the Democratic Confederation of Northern Syria which isn't entirely Kurdish) are the most/only organized opposition to ISIS with solid morale. I think Trump has completely deferred to the military leadership here and things will be better as long as that continues. Trump listening to Erdogan could screw this up.

Much like electing trump everyone knew it was an absolutely horrible idea in advance and still did it anyways.

Trump is still a rubberstamp on their agenda. Until the base turns, they have no reason to turn besides their consciences. And the closer we get to midterms, the less likely they are to rock the boat.

ETA: The Republicans saying "get his house in order," is just about the bare minimum of self-reflection at this stage. And tellingly, the Republican leadership doesn't even meet this standard. Paul Ryan does full on apologetics, and McConnell just says nothing.
I just wonder how history might treat congress people who put it all on the line to try and save democracy versus those who simply fought to protect their gig.

There might have been a time when the phrase "great men (and woman) might characterize many who ran for high level federal office. Now I suspect that phrase is entirely extinct. There is not one person in congress with the stones to sacrifice themselves in order to fight for the long term viability of the United States.

Cool, I didn't realise you could do that. Just be like nah I don't really feel like facing justice atm. I'm surprised more people didn't think of it tbh. Lots of guys in jail who must be kicking themselves.

Just waiting for the inevitable Trump pardon for all crimes. Might as well add Contempt of Congress or whatever this is to the list.

Turns out subpoenas are more like RSVPs.
05-18-2017 , 11:38 AM
Um, isn't "not honoring a subpeona" like telling a cop "I'm not going to honor your attempt to put handcuffs on me"?

And apparently Spicey is being down graded. Apparently he wasn't good enough at putting lipstick on that pig.

I've seen a few people post this itt. Is this a forum joke I'm not getting? It's mind-boggling that you would actually think the term is bottling.

I was reading yesterday or the day before that a Congressional subpoena doesn't actually have a lot of teeth behind it. They lack the power of the executive branch to round you up and throw you in prison for defying one.
