If you want to step up and make the govt.'s arguments here I will be glad to rebut them. Deal?

Nonsense. FTP and friends didn't know that committing bank fraud was illegal. You can't prosecute a "thought crime." I know this because F. P. Ivey, Esq. told me.

Was able to make a withdraw a few hours ago on FTP but just got the confirmation email saying the withdraw has been declined! So much for who ever said business is as usual on FTP.

I guess it is cool to call me names and such but really I would hope that we could have an actual discussion about this stuff. I have no problem with anyone not agreeing with me but it is more helpful to me and everyone reading if you point to specific facts and laws to support your criticism.
You're Bunzablood, aren't you? Being the Senior Editor of your high school newspaper does not a lawyer make.

Defend the bank fraud charge, counselor. Telling a bank you are using it for one thing, while actually using it for another is fraudulent.

I think we'll be fine.

Dude, its ok. We are all in the same boat. No online poker would suck obv, but you can get a job or grind at a casino. The biggest concern is whats gonna happen with our money

Why don't you start by telling us how what was alleged in the indictment is not bank fraud (assuming for the moment the activities outlined are true).

Daily Mail — The District of Columbia is to become the first U.S. jurisdiction to allow Internet gambling, leaping ahead of traditional gambling meccas like New Jersey and Nevada in a bid to raise millions of dollars from online poker buffs. The move to legalize the online gambling comes despite a 2006 federal law that effectively banned Internet gambling. The law prohibits banks and credit card companies from processing payments from gambling companies to individuals. But the details of law are murky, and gambling experts say it created enough grey areas to open the door for a deeper expansion into the multibillion dollar industry. Although other states have contemplated legalizing online poker, experts said Columbia would be the first jurisdiction in the country to do it. Permitting the online games was part of the district’s 2011 budget and a 30-day period for Congress to object expired last week, said D.C. Council member Michael A. Brown, who authored the provision. Mr Brown said: ‘There was really no clear law that said we could not do this.’ D.C. hopes to raise millions to help offset budget cuts and aid social services programs. Conservative estimates from D.C.’s chief financial officer indicate the move could bring in between $13million and $14million a year.

"one method...of the conspiracy...involved the creation of phony non-gambling companies...including online flower shops and pet supply stores"
"two gamblers made e-check payments to PStars and recieved emails immediately thereafter from PStars that 'oneshopcenter' and 'mygolflocation,' respectively, would appear as the party initiationg the charge on their respective bank statements"
"Burtnick and Franzen arranged...to process payments for FTP disguised as payments to a medical billing company"
"Franzen sent an email to a co-conspirator...and asked for a 'payout company ID' for FTP consisting of 'something on the shelf with a basic web presence.'"

In fact, the only defense by the first guy they caught was to flip and rat on everybody else to save his own ass, right?
