OK. So before it was because he could supposedly ban you for disagreeing with him. Now you’re saying that it’s because he wouldn’t be allowed to post the things he does if he weren’t a mod, although it’s not clear if the only consequence you’re saying he would face would be that posters would tell him to STFU. As far as I can tell, you are basically telling him to do so without any negative consequences coming your way. Do you fear authority in general? (not actually looking for an answer to that — more of a question for you to ask yourself)

Sorry, everyone, for going down the path on this topic derailment.

You are right Eponymous, too much of a derail, so I'll agree to disagree with you and I respectfully take on board all of your points.

two quick things

1) I think I've seen this Utopian country in a a few SciFi movies but never realized it actually exists.

2) Quit posting. you mostly suck at it.

So please everyone ignore the incorrect advice of Bobo Fett, who as often on NVG threads likes to challenge multiple posters and does it with an air of superiority whilst knowing that he can ban anyone who he doesn't like or who he disagrees with, and cancel anything and everything that you have already booked and/or paid for relating to this year's WSOP.

His argument that you can wait because your cancellation policy may allow you to wait x amount of time, is a blind spot argument, because the series is a dead duck anyway but importantly, the company(ies) / insurance companies / indemnity schemes that might be contractually obliged to refund or part refund you for any cancellations could easily be out of business by the time you wait to claim your refunds at or close to the last moment as advised by the brilliant Boba Fett.

Boba Fett should make his mind up whether he is a forum moderator that tries to remain impartial and cordial with posters in the threads,..... or if he doesn't want to be a forum moderator, thus allowing him to post freely and attack and disagree with all and sundry until his heart's content.

He can't have it both ways IMO.

Do you even know who Bobo Fett is?

Lemme tell you Bobo Fett is the head endboss bounty hunter of the federation. (Star Wars)

And I think he is sometimes right on point sometimes a little off. But he is only human and does a good job moderating these sometimes crazy chats.

A problem with his posts is he is very sarcastic, but sarcasm doesn't work well online as it is easily taken at face value, and sarcasm is so unfunny it just makes whoever is being sarcastic look dull, which is precisely why Oscar Wilde considered it the lowest form of wit.

It is my judgement that unless one is in another's shoes one opinions on their actions lack substance. If someone is under great work pressures, how they unwind is their choice.

Although things are bad now, this is a comparative calm before the storm, so good luck to him having a break now, while he still can.

Looking ahead the doctors will be deciding who to save, and who to leave to die, and all medical services will be delivered under those shadows, so before all that, shuffle up and deal!

What is the confirmation that Bobo Fett is in fact human?

All Connecticut casinos to close at 8pm tonight. Interesting my home casino Foxwoods is still finishing their High Flyer Stack event as it is Day 2. It was a $200k guarantee and they missed it by a couple grand. I doubt they finish by 8pm. You gotta wonder how this works. Do the players agree to a huge chop? The way this virus thing is going it could be a long while before they re-open so I wonder if it might be prudent to chop it up as it gets close to the casino shutting down. This whole thing is so bizarre.

Update: Heard Governor Cuomo announce that NY, NJ and CT are working together and that all casinos in those states will be closed starting @8pm tonight. However when I called Foxwoods the lady said she hadn't heard that yet. So who knows at this point. But I don't think Cuomo would have announced that if the other governors didn't agree to that. I guess wait and see.

At this point, with everything that is going on in the #canceleverything environment, social distancing, etc., there has to be literally 0% chance of a summer WSOP, where literally thousands of players from all corners of the globe come together and sit in an enclosed convention room around a crowded 10-handed poker table. There's just no way! The only question remaining is how far in advance the plug is pulled?

I can see it now though, WSOP, in its effort to contribute to social distancing, announces all tournaments at this year's WSOP tables will be played no more than 5-handed!

That's why to not have an announcement at this point is absurd.

There are people hoping that everything can start up again after two months. Places like China and Italy are ahead of the US on the epidemic curve, so if they give a clue that the peak will come in April, the WSOP will be looked at as a way to provide a boost to a Vegas that will be coming out of a very rough stretch only to look at a normally slow period, even if attendance is diminished.
03-16-2020 , 12:32 PM
Within 2 weeks the US will be Italy. Are there gonna be military walking the streets threatening to arrest us if we leave our homes? I don't like where this is going. I'm sorry but imo I think the damage is already done. Millions are probably already infected. All these closures and restrictions are unfortunately about 6-8 weeks too late.

It is gonna happen, but really all companies are being wary of making announcements too far out.

CET is likely kind of pre-occupied with the short term decision of whether to close (they should have already).

But if you look across the board, you have all these "temporary" and two week suspensions and announcements, when this thing is going to be likely months of hunkering down.

it's not absurd
we have no idea how things are going to look in 2 months
canceling it this far out would be absurd

if eveyone put jay why/mikey d on ignore the thread would be so much better

Robbie Strazynski also argues that the wisest course of action is to wait 1-2-3-4 weeks before making a decision.

The 2020 WSOP section starts at about the 6:00 mark and extends to about 15:45.

I thought Foxwoods was Indian Casino. State should have no authority.

If Foxwoods wants to push that the state can just block every road going to Foxwoods.
