My apologies for not responding earlier. I saw your question and just dropped the ball. I spend about 90 per cent of my 2p2 time in OOT, although this thread obv has held my attention.

Only testing people with symptoms may make short-term sense, but that too seems like a giant mistake to me. We need data about how broad the virus is and how many have it and spread it that are asymptomatic.

Wow I couldn't believe only 14% of Americans smoke. I would think much higher, but I guess I am used to seeing a bunch of degens in casinos.

Governor issues guidelines for Nevada casinos

"Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak on Sunday issued new guidelines for all casinos that are still operating in the state as new cases of the coronavirus were reported.

“As we all know gaming is the lifeblood of Nevada’s economy, and a source of financial support for so many of our citizens and their families,” Sisolak told reporters during a news conference in downtown Las Vegas.

But to protect public health and safety, Sisolak said he strongly supports any properties decision to close to the public. He also encouraged all gaming companies “to do their best to protect the pay and benefits of their workforce.”

The governor said for those casinos that stay open they are expected to comply with several restrictions:

* There will be no more than three chairs at table games.

* All gaming machines must be cleaned and sanitized at a minimum of every two hours.

* Any buffets that remain open must be served by employees instead of patrons. Employee dining areas can remain open, but again, employees may not serve themselves.

* And the gaming floors and other public areas are expected to be in compliance with the latest social distancing guidance from Nevada’s medical advisory team.

When asked if casinos should be closed to help stem the outbreak, Sisolak said individual properties are making individual decisions.

“We are analyzing this on a day-by-day basis,” the governor said.

Currently, casinos operated by Las Vegas Sands and Caesars Entertainment remain open. Caesars announced Sunday that it was suspending all live shows at its venues companywide, as well as refunding any wagers made in its sportsbooks on professional and collegiate games suspended by the leagues due to the pandemic.

Sisolak announced the new guidelines shortly after MGM Resorts International and Wynn Resorts announced Sunday afternoon they were temporarily shutting down their Las Vegas casinos due to the continuing spread of the coronavirus.

State and local health officials confirmed Sunday that there are 26 cases in Nevada, with 16 in Clark County and 10 in Washoe County."

Given that the WSOP isn't until after mid-May, and it's only a recommendation, I wouldn't assume anything. But I also wouldn't be surprised if they postponed or cancelled it any time now.

I’ve heard the casinos are closing. This true? I was gonna come to Vegas for the weekend for more than just some good cocaine and a hooker. Wanted to play poker.

Nah, there hasn't been any posts in this thread about casinos closing. No need to read the last page or two.

Spoiler:
I'd suggest reading the last couple of pages anyway.

Same here. Poor decision making.

No worries.

I agree that testing many more than only those with symptoms would be ideal — not only to help understand how it is spread but also to provide more accurate data on its lethality. Perhaps that would be their plan if they had more test kits available. I don’t really know what’s limiting their production.

I’m glad your self-esteem is intact. Otherwise, why else would you feel the need to attempt to make a person look dumb by merely asking a question regarding an ever-changing situation?
03-16-2020 , 12:49 AM
Sorry you thought I was trying to make you look dumb - maybe I needed to add a smiley or two to make it more obviously light-hearted, as was intended. But when there had been a crapton of posts about your question in just the last couple of hours (including one just 3 posts before yours), I thought it was kind of funny.

If it makes you feel any better, I've asked plenty of dumb questions in my time on this forum, and I'm sure it's been pointed out to me multiple times.

Jeez, can't you just ANSWER the man's question??

Because... it's fun?

I mean. Sometimes. Some nights are slower than others.

I suspect without knowing that it may be lab processing capability rather than physical test kits. I read that somewhere but I've been reading so much corona stuff that i can't keep track of it all.

Thanks for this, I have saved a copy of this list.

Wikipedia is helpful in listing the developments in separate countries, for example I am following how it is unfolding in South Africa, but one can enter other countries, and the daily percentage increase figures are so helpful in showing how numbers explode and why this is so serious, with it doubling every two days.

So an ER practitioner, on the front line of this battle, who is currently at work by has tickets to go to Vegas this weekend so he posts a question regarding a very fluid situation in the one place he should be able to find an answer is dumb?
I’ll keep that in mind.

All MGM properties will be closed along with Wynn and Encore and some Caesars poker rooms. Will be pretty weird.
