Fake. Misspelled "inconvenience". Not on EDC's Twitter. Way to early to decide to cancel something like that.

Vital Vegas is reputable afaik.

Hmm, now I see the comments, not sure why he would do that. Sorry.

I thought I saw it on news also, but can't remember, so many cancellations.

Haven’t read last few pages but does anyone still expect WSOP to go ahead?

The 2021 NFL Draft is already scheduled for Cleveland. But, the 2022 draft doesn't have a location yet.

The Draft that is scheduled in April 2020 is the 2020 draft right?

No official word but based on all the cancellations today, its not looking good.

Maybe it's different in Vegas, but in Vancouver, if you wait until a year ahead, your selection will be pretty limited. An organization I work with that has a couple conferences a year for 500-1,000 people books them 3-5 years out.

2.5 months now, but that's just until the beginning - longer for most events, of course.

If the US follows the same pattern, we are probably about 1 week away from the peak. But we should be down to a smattering of cases by the end of April.
I think one week is very, very optimistic, considering the piss poor job done of testing, and how late in the game any kind of containment/"social distancing" happened.

Also, as momentum grows behind cancelling practically everything, there is the possibility that public pressure and/or government decisions kill it before there's any opportunity to get to the peak, whenever that might be.

I don't think it's impossible that WSOP could still happen, or simply be postponed/lose some of the early events only. However, the chances get slimmer daily, if not hourly.

.
I’m clinging to the hope that maybe they’ll still run part of the series if possible. I’m due to arrive on June 12. I wonder if they have an all or nothing view of the series given it runs for over 6 weeks.

So I went to Winco Foods at 2 AM and I figured **** it, nobody at Winco that time of night is going to come within 10 feet of me. Mask stays in pocket.

Wouldn't you know it, there is an Asian woman in the meat department standing near me and coughing and sneezing like, well, a caricature of someone uncontrollably coughing and sneezing.

So 5 days later I can't move a muscle and have a fever. It's now 3 days after that and Tylenol has made the fever mostly go away. But if it is COVID-19, the odds are 1 in 6 that it will come roaring back in a few days, possibly sending me to the ICU (if there's any hospital capacity left). I'm updating my bucket list to see what I can get done within the possibly few days I might have left on this Earth.

GG, maybe.
Good luck sir.

I can foresee it definitely wont happen. The decision to run it is being held on commercial reasons alone, as the health grounds not to hold it are comprehensively clear it should not be held.

Now that foreigners can't play, and lots of Americans are rightly too scared to play in the series, the fields would be low, and the organisers would get less money than cancelling it and running it again when a cure is found.

The Colorado Poker Championship, scheduled to start tomorrow, was just cancelled. Bummer. Fascinating times. I understand this is a wicked and super contagious virus, but these things are only going to continue to develop... I'm not sure that quarantining everything is going to do any good. If at risk people want to self-quarantine that is understandable, but the forced quarantines and life disruptions seem draconian to me. What is the realistic mortality rate for this thing?
03-12-2020 , 03:33 AM
Those hanging there hopes on the diminishing cases in places like China and South Korea need to be wary. Cases are dimishing there because of the massive travel restrictions and huge use of self isolation. Naturally cases will diminish because transmission opportunties are very limited.

The problem is what happens after all the restrictions are lifted...or will we keep everything locked down until a vaccine is available.

Fingers crossed that warmer weather might have some sort of impact, but other than that it seems this thing is here until either a vaccine is operational or until herd immunity reaches a threshold level (and that only happens after the majority of the population has been infected).

Apologies if all that seems horrendously pessimistic, but hey most of you are not in high risk groups and I am, so I take zero joy in writing this.

Seems unlikely that this thing will be totally under control in the next 2 months. And they just put a ban on travel to Europe. Looks like it's gonna be cancelled. It's looking bad for the Tokyo Olympics too.
03-12-2020 , 04:19 AM
I have been to the series every year for the past 4 years. As an adult it is what Christmas used to be for me. I ****ing love the WSOP.

And I will be utterly flabbergasted if they don't cancel it. It needs to happen.

From Europe. Except the UK, and we'll let anyone in
