As usual so much misinformation. That freaking virus is roughly 10-20 times less (!!!!!) deadly then Sars. Prob way more. If u think that 90000 people in China infected is the real number ure prob also believing in Santa. The infected number is prob much higher, caus they don't and can't test anyone. Also 80% of people literally have a very mild cold or no symptoms. So the Mortality rate is, as many many experts say, prob 0.5-1% on average. While in the 20-50 age range it is even lower more like 0.2%. Sars had roughly 10% mortality rate. A much more deadly but less infectus virus!!

So overall that thing is most likely a bit more deadly then the normal influence flu, which has roughly 0.1% mortality.

Every freaking year there are millions and millions of people affected with the flue, thousands day. But yet there is no media outrage.

That virus needs to be contained, with proper measure but the freaking panicking is so annoying. This is a poker forum with a whole bunch of statistics and probabilities information threads etc.

But yet in this case all the math and statistics is ignored. This thing will not be extinct and till there is a vaccine a lot of people will get it and will not die.

At the moment u dying from a car crash is much more likely then from that virus.

The salient point is that there is no vaccine yet against SARS-CoV-2. The mortality rate, as you point out, is likely 5 to 10x the average yearly mortality rate of the flu. Worldwide deaths for the flu run on the order of 500K per year. So the math is 2.5 to 5 million deaths from SARS-CoV-2, except that would be comparing an illness with widely distributed vaccine to an illness that has no available vaccine. The infection rate for SARS-CoV-2 could run as high as 80% of the worldwide population (=~5B+ people), as compared with the 10 to 40M that get the flu annually. This is why governments and health officials are panicking and implementing drastic measures to stamp out the spread of the virus. Without that, CoVID-19 could easily become the number one cause of death this year, planetwide.

The myth of urine's sterility continues to get thrown around in schools (at least, U.S. ones). Hell, I found out in the last few years that science teachers are still spreading the whole "tongue map" myth. You know it, it's that the hypothesis that certain taste receptors are located on specific regions of the tongue. Yet I remember learning that notion being debunked as far back as the 1980s.

The problem is this guy cant work out that if you have a not very infectious disease that has very high fatality, and a very infectious disease that has a lower fatality, overall they are equally problematic.

What he doesn't get it how quickly this spreads. Two Chinese visitors with the virus visited Italy. From those two people 3,858 have ended up with it in Italy, of which 148 have died and 414 recovered. Yet our genius comes up with a mortality figure of 0.5 - 1%.

I would go as far as to say wsop, casino and/or hotels won't be the ones making a decision if it ever does end up getting cancelled, it would be too costly for them to shoot themselves in the foot and cancel when no matter what people will end up attending. The only way WSOP is cancelled I would guess is if government / local officials step in and say they are not allowed to host it due to the virus and large amounts of people coming in from around the world.

The new coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed another victim, forcing King’s Casino Rozvadov to shut it’s doors to players from — or who have recently visited — Italy.

The likelihood of to closing the board for good to live events has to be a given.

At this point there is no way they can run it.

But the Main will likely go even if its postponed. And the RIO is such a dead place year round that they logistically could consider postponing the whole event to the fall if things approve.
