Respectfully these are ramblings, it's the kind of stuff that sounds okay without actually saying much, this is kind of my problem with a lot of the philosophy done in SMP. How do things get better merely by this forum discussing politics more constructively?

There are also some constructive discussions tbf but I don't think they have any more positive a contribution to make than the flames.

Not to politics, I don't recall much of Bruce's contribution to philosophy but DS's is pretty bad.

Plus the guilt because it turns out he was actually trying to act as BruceZ's counsel and really doesn't like that Bruce decided to pout and take his rudimentary math skills away. That advice must have been gold.

"Apologize and accept wrongdoing? No, no, no, that would be my 13th preference out of 27. We shall have a 20 PM discussion on the definition of "apologize". Should we table that and talk about this threatened DDOS idea first? Splendid. I shall have a drink in celebration of your honor tonight. Looking forward to your thoughts on Ferguson. PVN is being a meanie now, but once this blows over we can muse wistfully over whether the ruffians there actually have won the lottery because they are allowed to use their EBT cards to buy chocolate regardless of a dash of aggressive policing. Speak later good sir"

More a few illustrative comments about where I'm coming from. The full ramblings go on a great deal but not in this thread and not at this time.

What is your rule for distinguishing between voices we are obliged to listen to versus those we have no obligation to?

Me? I don't make the rules.

If I did the line would be those who despite warnings can't be sufficiently PC. Extreme cases would get no warnings.

Just wanted to wish all the geniuses in this thread a happy Cesar Chavez Day.

Sorry, I misread that post

Hey, I just dream of a day where there is no math.

Chez posting a mere 2/3 more than anyone else ITT.

But remember everyone: he's not the one that's been posting about Bruce, he's only responding to others, he's totally about constructive politics, and this containment thread wasn't for him but for others.

Foldn still holding in strong in second place too. But, nope, totally have not been bringing up this nonsense for months in politics. Must be a coincidence.

Oh man, Bruce's neighbors are going to make a lot of noise. He should just call the cops now.

I think it's a little much to give the Dog Whisperer guy his own day.
03-31-2015 , 01:28 PM
The Dog Whisperer is not just about dogs. It's about people.
03-31-2015 , 04:39 PM
Not that anyone cares, but for the record I have not to my knowledge posted in SMP nor did I post/read the Bruce thread.

I disagree a bit with both of you.

You are correct in that things would be better if they were better and he is correct in saying it is what it is.

He is by far correct that it doesn't matter. Some rough back of a napkin calculations that I won't bore you with demonstrate that it matters almost, but not quite, as much as whether you feed a chihuahua a boiled egg with an ever-so-slightly runny yolk or one fully solidified.

I miss Madnak.

You are not smart or well read and you've obviously never had a chihuahua or a boiled egg.

Didn't Brian claim to be a genius? Or just really smart? (Or maybe neither and I'm remembering something that never happened, lol.)
03-31-2015 , 10:57 PM
I don't think Brian has made too many claims about much of anything. His game is to affect an attitude of academic aloofness to hide the fact that he's here for the exact same reasons all the rest of us are.

It's because we're lazy, right?
