Oh trust me, I'm not the dude who thinks the world is post-racial. I'm very aware of it. Its just not that important to me. If they take it as dismissive I honestly dont care. That's the way I think and its very difficult for me to think otherwise. In fact I dont want to think otherwise. I treat and think of people, regardless of race, the same. I treat them as people.

I see no better way to go about it. If you think I'd be better off categorizing everyone by race, well I dont know how to respond.

Well, that's not at all what I'm saying so that's probably the disconnect.

You shouldn't be treating them differently by their race/sexuality/etc. I'm not sure how to explain it to you any clearer so we're at an impasse.

Its just a concept that I dont agree with. Is being white important to you? I guess maybe. Is being Asian important to me? A little.

What's MOST important to me is people treat me as a person first and foremost, not so much as an "Asian". Besides I'd get tired of people making fried rice for me when I come over for dinner.

I was using it as an extreme example. There is no disconnect there. Some people use their race to define themselves. I think its better (and a natural progression) to do the opposite.

So the human-centric disposition doesn't matter because racial dispositions also exist? It may help to know that these dispositions can co-exist just fine and also combine effectively to diminish racist disposition. See how MLK frequently referenced issues related to the black community while also stating that human-centric character, not skin color is the true measure of a person's quality.

Do people actually do that?

No was just a little humor. Personally all my friends think of me as just "wil". They don't think of me as Asian. And that's exactly how I want it. I've been in situations where people made a big deal of my race (more so then normal) and it actually made me uncomfortable.

One time we had an Asian themed office party , you know, to show off our "diversity" (keep in mind out of 400 of us there were 3 black people). The whole thing kind of annoyed me. Listening to Chinese instruments in the background just grated on my nerves.

I wasn't the only Asian person who felt that way at that event. We'd really just prefer being treated the same as everyone else. I would presume other races would feel the same way but I can't be positive.

I have certainly been butthurt on this forum in the distant past, but not this year. Anyone who resorts to certain types of tactics is either butthurt or desperate though. I suppose I picked the nicer one for you to be.

Man, the chickens have really come home to roost in the new ATF BruceZ thread. 90% of the vocal opposition to reinstating BruceZ seems to be coming from politics posters.

Great work by chez, FoldN, SwissMiss, Derpy de Z, and spanky. Your protracted campaign of whining and being annoying has accomplished exactly the opposite of what you guys wanted.

I'm pretty sure that the only opposition to re-modding Bruce that Mat cares much about is that of the other mods. And most of them likely haven't had the "pleasure" of reading much from the whack pack.

Oh look the mockers are mocking- and so proud of their mocking you'd think it was smart, but it is stupid and makes them look even stupider.

It's interesting how people see it differently.

As trolly points out it was notable that it's largely just the kids making silly noises and even some of them might be using more than one account.

Not that it makes much difference what they say either way.

I hope it's not just kids, because the adults involved in matter have failed them and led them down an ugly road of treating people. My hands are clean and available for any kids that need help.

Hard as it is at times we have to remember that they aren't literally kids.

05-04-2015 , 10:45 AM

However we have a wide range of potential age groups with interested in poker who may be lurking and may show up. A poker-interested bunch of teens who thinks is is cool to go pile on some kid with mockery, derision, and accusations maybe find their "cool" biases confirmed here. So knowing they aren't kids, from one perspective, makes it all the more criticizable.

Brother, nothing makes the Hulkster madder than seeing young people engage in mob-like tactics of excessive mockery, derision, and accusations.
05-04-2015 , 01:34 PM
Rep lol going headlong with some more mockery and derision.

All the politics regs think they are going to laugh, smack talk, and ask argumentative questions their way to victory. What do you all win at the end again?

Have you not been reading?
