Any interest in having a stud8 5/10 game sat nite? I met 2 players who said they would be willing to play and put their names on the list. One is here all the time. I will start the list sat and let's try to get it going

I think a mixed game is more practical. Maybe stud8/PLO/nlhe? Triple draw 2-7 would be sick, too, but I don't know if anyone would agree to that one as it's pretty obscure. I def think a mixed game is a good idea, though, maybe smaller limits? Just keep the buy in small so my meager roll can keep up. =]

Sidenote: Anyone up? I'm debating rolling out there. I can't sleep.

Derby is okay Friday and Saturday nights but it's usually pretty reg-infested at the lower limits (1/2-1/3). Not saying you can't find a good game but they're definitely more plentiful at the Rock. Plus the promo at THR rewards volume over luck. And they don't take $2 for the jackpot. I drive by Derby every day on my way to Tampa. I wish I didn't have to but I really feel there is a significant difference that warrants the extra half hour drive.

You live around here, I'm assuming?

I've been playing the 2/4 LHE at HR off and on for about a year. Crush most sessions. Seems that no one can get off top or even middle pair, nevermind the usual **** kicker. Just starting to build a roll and debating stepping into NL action. Can I expect the same type play at 1/2? 2/5?

1/2 and 2/5 are both very beatable. Solid TAG play will net the most money, generally. If you get stuck at a tight table, switch gears to sLAG or just ask for a table change. There are generally 5+ 1/2 tables at any given time.

Sidenote: what's your strat for 2/4 LHE? My roll is kind of thin and I could use a low variance BR builder.

If you've been "crushing" for a year you can probably afford the $100 max buyin at risk in a 1-2NL game to find out for yourself. Obviously the play is horrid. Do you actually expect people to come in here and tell you that the 1-2 NL game at THR is full of great players? Sometimes 2-5 is pretty horrid as well but obviously more regs and the play is deeper stacked.

I have no idea why anyone would play 2-4 limit if they had any type of poker IQ though so what do i know.

I can't believe that 2-4 limit would be much lower variance than 1-2NL... when 8 people are limping to see flops and you can't get anyone to fold any type of a hand post flop the variance is actually going to be higher than you expect. The same amount of limpers are in the 1-2NL game, but at least you can protect your hand and get heads up by the turn or river.

Saw this the other night. I would be interested if it wasn't a kill game. Removing the progressive betting structure kills that game, IMO. That's why I don't play the 3/6.

Shoot me a text with your number if you're around St. Pete. I'm already driving there daily, wouldn't mind the company. I'm probably going to head out in an hour, maybe less. Let me know.

Edit: Leaving in like 10 min, so message quick if you wanna go. :P

Thanks.

First off, play Friday or Saturday nights because of the action, which gets particularly good after ybor last call. My stack always starts out at $50 with another $50 that comes out if I get below $25. College doesn't pay for itself, does it Eddie?

My strategy is TAG with strong starting hands until I double, then I open up my range to include drawing hands in position. I like to squeeze when the opportunity arises, but single-bet re-raises are pointless because everyone is coming along and pot odds will have you calling off chips on later streets in spots you'd rather avoid.

I barrel off at the first few hands I play whether they connect or not until someone calls the bluff. From then on getting paid off is pretty easy. The big bluff is essential; its the only hand the table remembers.

Last session: 3 hours work, up 4.5x buy-ins.

Why do you play different hands with $100 compared to with $50 when playing 2-4 LHE?

You used the phrase "The big bluff is essential" when playing 2-4 LHE?

You alluded to the fact that drunk kids at 3 am on the weekends will come to the hard rock to play 2-4 LHE?

....really what did you expect?

LOl relax man, seriously...your logic seems to have some serious flaws and you seem slightly insecure when second guessed. Why would you ever play differently when you have $50 on the table vs $100...when in both spots you have the max bet per hand?

I will third the motion that 2/4 limit is the money maker on Friday and Saturday nights. I don't believe 2/4 will make much long term. I believe for low variance and ease the 3/6 FLO/8 is probably where it's t. But really the 1/2 NLHE is so soft the number of winning sessions you can book outweigh the losing ones by a decent amount.

Sidenote: anybody here right now? I'm table 24 seat 10 but leaving shorty.

A kill game still has a progressive betting structure. It just doubles the stakes on each street. So the 5/10 game would turn into a 10/20 structure when the kill is on.

Anyone know how regularly this game has been going? I'd probably head out there more often if I could count on this game running most nights.

Yeah, I actually played the 3/6 the other night. The old game used to have a straight $5 kill that was awful. The new game is actually pretty good. Players are still horrible. The 1/2 nlhe is probably where I'll stay for a while, though.

Heys guys, I'm def going to Hard Rock, because a friend is putting me in. Compared to the $1-$2- $2/$5 NLHE Vegas games, are the HardRock Tampa games ALOT better/softer? The action in the 1$/2$ NL and the 2$/5$ NL action is still soft at HR Tampa, right? Someone told me there was a motel/hotel about a half a mile from Hard Rock, can anyone tell me the name of that Hotel and the distance from the HR poker room, and the prices. Do they have special rates if you pay cash for a month, and is it a mom and pop run motel, or a more expensive NAME motel? I can't afford the Hard Rock room rates. Also, how are the comps, if any? I'm planning on leaving Vegas 4 HR Tampa in a couple weeks, so any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks, brothers
