Scott- does it work in the other direction as well? So that people assigned to a new table can't leave for 30 minutes? Often I see people whose name is called for a new table, and when they walk over and see it's new, they immediately start looking for a seat on an established table with (usually) more chips on it. So while initially 8 or 9 may get called for the new table, two leave right away (often without asking a brush) and then we're down to 6 before a hand is even dealt.

But as far as having the rule to keep the existing game from breaking, that doesn't really make sense, IMO. Isn't there already a rule that you can't transfer if you leaving will leave your table short handed? Usually you can transfer if you have between 8-10 people, but if leaving causes the table to go down to 7, most of the time they won't let you (assuming the dealer tells the player he needs to get a brush before leaving, which some never do).

But if a guy is at a 10 handed table, and wants to go to another table, what difference does it make if the table he is transferring to is a new one or an existing one?

Seems to me that if you want to control tables breaking due to transfers, then rather than have a rule about moving to a new table, you guys should come up with a standard rule about how many people can be at a table before you are allowed to transfer at all; and then make the dealers/brushes enforce it. I've often said to a dealer "that will leave us short" and he/she will just shrug like "it's not my job". Plus, no one seems to agree on what the magic minimum number is that must remain at the table before you let a guy transfer.

Another policy that comes into play is that no one on staff seems to know what the rule is about how long you can be away from the table before your chips get picked up. I've seen floor do everything they can to avoid doing it, like it's such an imposition on them. But then we have two guys gone for an hour, but then when another player wants to transfer, they count the two absent guys as being at the table. So when the transfer guy leaves, we're short again.

Do you have an actual time for being allowed away from the table before you get picked up?

Not as a rule, but the supervisor can make that determination as needed.

Players can transfer as long as there are 8 players remaining on the table he/she was playing originally playing on.

Players will have their chips picked up at the discretion of the supervisor. The minimum safe times are 45 minutes for high-limit games and 15 minutes for all other games.

As always, the supervisor has the authority to make exceptions when deemed necessary.

seems the real underlying problem being reported is people moving tables without telling a floor person. hopefully that changes with the new poker manager.... at borgata if a player shows up at a player unnanounced, the dealer will check with the nearest floor person to make sure it was approved. only the floors/brushes can move players, not players themselves.

I don't see how it helps with that. The rules for not leaving a short table exist for that. All it does is mean that if I want to go to the new table I have to join the list before it's full and maybe leave my table. It's an unnecessary hoop for players to jump through that accomplishes nothing but to annoy them.

Coming down in a week for a vacation. Going to HR to play 2/4 LH. What chips are used? Do they ever get 4/8 or 8/16 hold'em going? I play at Foxwoods and the 2/4, 4/8, 8/16 all use $2 chips. Thanks, Joe

They use $2 chips for 2/4 limit. Higher limit games almost never go. You shouldn't expect to see any during your stay.

Qualified for my gas card this morning. To my pleasant surprise, rather than a card, I was given a crispy Benjamin from the cage!

The only time i can recall anything over 2/4 limit(holdem) in recent memory is when they ran the promo($4 per hour) for limit games 4/8 and higher.Even then they struggled to get 4/8 going and got nothing higher. It makes me laugh when i hear players say that they should run a 10/20 limit game, like the THR is stopping it from happening.

Unofficial number is 322. I got that from the new poker blog on the THR website. It's nicely done, and it was sort of a shock to see it. They have some key hands, along with pics from the action and some discussion with players.

Makes the tourney feel like the WSOP or something. If you havent seen it, click the poker blog banner on the poker page.

Shocked that it was high quality. Given the previously poor use and quality of the website, I was pleasently surprised to see this.

ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. i did think that the "nicely done" was with regard to the structure (or somethin) and the rest of the sentence directed to the turnout.

Thanks. It covers the 150k,but i expected a number closer to 400. The friday pm flight turnout was under 90. I really thought that would be 125 to 150.

Very impressed. In fact, shocked. They are treating it like a real poker room. Kudos to the new guy.
