There is a thread about Derby here in B&M.

The general concensus is for cash games Hard Rock, for tourney players Derby is preferred.

Thanks man. Yeah everyone says that Derby has great structure for their tourneys. Definitely gonna check out some 2/4 at the Rock though.

Play 1/2 or 1/3. I'm not sure why you'd want to play 2/4 limit in the first place (I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon), but it's not a beatable game. It's 10 elderly people with $46 in front of them trying to hit the BBJ-- especially now that the mini jackpot has any quads eligible.

Mind if I ask what you're studying? I'll be there for medicine.

The Derby thread looks pretty dead, but I'll definitely check it out for tournaments and be playing 1/2 and 1/3 at HR

Hey, sorry if this question has been asked before, but does the Hard Rock spread a 1/2PLO game at all? I play at The Silks almost everyday and they pretty much never seem to get a game running and I would like to play PLO at some point. Thanks!

Limit hold em is my favorite game; I just have a preference to it. Definitely not gonna play tourneys at the Hard Rock lol. And I don't have enough cash to drop on NLHE right now anyway.

playing 2-4 limit is much more lol than playing tourneys there imo...both would make me want to kill myself tho.

You realize the min buyin on a nlhe 1-2 table is $40 right? What kind of money are you planning on playing 2-4 limit with that you can't play 1-2nl with?

Yeah but I hate playing short stack NL, it's no fun.

Um, actually that makes it one of the rare low stakes limit games that is VERY beatable. You have to make the proper adjustments for those opponents, but they are a gold mine. I've seen folks at those tables go through $200 in less than two hours...it doesn't all go in the rake box.

Most 2/4 games are barely beatable if you play extremely well. The 2/4 at the Hard Rock is clearly beatable if you are a decent and disciplined player. You won't make as much money as you can at 1/2, but the variance will be considerably less.

I play mostly 2-5nl and jump into the plo game when i can when its running. When running horrid I'll play some 1-2 for zero stress. I never play 1-3, I think its actually a much tougher game most of the time compared to 2-5(there are so many horrid degen 2-5 regs I don't know where they get the money from).
I was going to play in the plo game till I found a ridiculous 2-5 game while waiting.....example hand.
Russian guy is straddling every hand to $10, I pick up KK and raise to $40 - straddler is the only caller(We both have about $275) and i have position on him. Flop is QJx, he checks, I bet $40 - He thinks about it and shows me he has AK and asks if he can see one card, I tell him sure you choose, he picks top card and Itsd obv a King. He instantly says "Ohhhh I think we have the same hand....I'm all in - LOl i call and win $550 pot...needless to say I was not about to leave that table for PLO

I agree that 2-4 is beatable but disagree greatly with your assertion that the variance will be considerably less than 1-2nl. If you play a tight 1-2nl game the play is so bad the variance is actually pretty low. Playing in a 9 handed game of 2-4 limit where no one folds till the river actually involves a ridiculous amount of variance, even when the game is very beatable.

They run a 3-6 limit O/8 game pretty much 24-7 but the 1-2 PLO game is hit or miss. Somedays it doesn't even run. I was there last night and there wasn't even an interest list. I started one but nothing materialized.

What is the buy-in range for the 1-2PLO game if it does run?

This is correct, the times I played most people were only buying like 200-300 to start.

Confirmed. Also they do assume calls, so if you throw a $5 button straddle on, the SB and BB can raise to $20. The game I played in was only open for about 2 hours because we blew thru 8-10 players with a single buy-in, so it was relatively deep after a couple downs.

Got down to the new room for the first time yesterday...was fairly impressed, almost full on a Wednesday afternoon, and they have put together some very worthwhile promotions for their high-volume players...Ipad this month, gas cards next month. If I lived closer, I would definitely give them more of my business.

How big does that game play?

I've heard the 1-2-5 PLO game at Lucky's plays enormous near the end of the night (10k-20k on the table).

Does the hard rock game play super large like that too?

I understand PLO usually plays way bigger than NLHE but 1-2-5 PLO at lucky's Ive heard is probably equivalent to 5-10-20 NLHE.

I've never played at lucky's but I've also heard their game gets pretty big. The game at the hard rock rarely gets that big...often times most of the table is straddling the button but a lot of the stacks are in the $300 range.

We actually got a mixed game 1-2 PLO(5 button straddle most of the time) and 1-2 PLO Hi/Lo game going saturday night - would love to play that game regularly...actually keeps me interested while playing 20 hands/hour.
