The supervisor had the dealer replace the $5 from the well and then on the next few hands take the rake that would drop and put it back in the well until the $5 was made back up.

Ideally they would get rid of the 1/3nl games and just have 1/2nl and make it $100-$300 buy in but too many players by in for $40-$50 and they dont want to scare them away with people buying in for $200-$300.

I would be happy with $50-$200 even but the 1/2nl games are their cash cow since there are usually 10-12 games of that running, so they leave things like they are. It was $100 max for 3 years before the limits were lifted by the state so they just decided to keep it for the 1/2nl.

Outside of Florida I have never seen a casino spread 1/2 and 1/3NL that I remember.

100 % correct assessment. You go in there on a Friday night and there's a list 30 deep of people wanting to play $1-2. Over half of them will buy in for less than the full hundred.

The Rock loves it because they take in close to the same rake they will generate with a $1-3 table, but would have less players.

No chance they go to a lowest-limit NLHE game where the min buy in is $100.

Combed through the last 10 or so pages of the thread, which answered most of my questions - but I wanted to ask you guys how the tournament structure works there. I saw on their schedule they have regular NLHE tourneys daily, but, being a complete casino virgin, am completely unaccustomed to their workings. Was interested in how many players these tourneys tend to attract regularly, and what the payout structure looks like in relation.

Will be dropping by soon. Thanks in advance.
Bro, looked 2 c if I could PM (Personal Message) you, but you have'nt posted enough for me 2 B able 2 PM you. Hurry up and post comments. Comment short on any new post and after I think, 20-30 posts, U can PM. When u can PM me, or hit my e-mail at hartmichael39@yahoo.com. If your comin down from Orlando, they have a Inn, called, I think, East Lake Inn about a half mile from the joint (Hardrock Tampa). When your down, maybe we can split expenses at the motel, or u could crash there if you run short on cash. I live in Vegas, but am going 2 Tampa on the 11th of August, till December. Alot of my family lives in Orlando/Tampa area (So I'm visiting but am mostly there to play poker 8-12 hrs daily). I lived in Winter Haven, Fla from 1970-1994 and used 2 travel to Orlando/Tampa/St. Pete to play back in that time span. The rooms are spartan, but are clean/safe, approx $280/weekly. I can't afford 2 stay at the Hardrock, coz they want $150-$200 per night. I can give you alot of info about HRT casino, as other 2+2ers that play there have given me. The best tourneys, they tell me, are at Derby Lane, in St. Petersburg.
GL, Mike

Young dude who plays there daily, told me the $1/3 blind NL was the toughest game, bcoz, the players who don't wanna play the $100 max buy-in $1/2 blind game and are too short BR to play the $2/5 blind NL, play in the $1/3.

I agree 1-3 is actually tougher than 2-5 imo. I never play 1-3. If I want to play lower stakes I just play 1-2.

Thats only because the floor knows that they can do whatever they want with the JP money anyways. No need to bring any heat to the fact they are probably skimming thousands on the side with no legal recourse.

It's still better than playing at a place with a $2 drop.

My favorite is when they take money out of the jackpot to cover overlays.

Yea I don't play hands against her when we're at the same table. Although I guess that's harder to do at a limit game that averages 7/flop.

Either way, Women = rake

No, it wasn't playing a hand against her. She normally is pretty solid but was playing like a total ******* today and running like God. Then she got pissed when I told her to stop berating a new player that was donating money but sucked out on her (when she had no business being in the hand, mind you. Her defense was, "I knew he was betting the low!"). Then she played 2889 and caught trip deuces and bet them to the river and somehow held up and made money from the two idiots playing lows. I told her that she should never play that hand and she got all offended so I just left. Now since we took her car I'm waiting in the food court like an idiot and bitching on 2+2. I feel slightly better, though. Still way too tilted to play but whatever.

This is true I'm chilling at 1/2. If I want higher stakes I'm skipping the 1/3. More players at 2/5 and some are more recreational than regular degens, like me

Yeah, I tell everyone to play hard at me, coz I'm gonna play hard at them, nothing personal, just business, and we'll still B friends, even if they beat me. I play women players the same as I do male players. Don't get me wrong, if someone is a GOOD friend of mine, and they are gettin slaughtered, I will occasionally give em a break.

I heard they have a really good PLO game at Derby Lane, St. Pete., or at one of the other joints, not Hard Rock/Tampa. Actually, approx 2 years ago they added a 2 million addition to Derby Lane, so their room must be really nice.

The PLO game is at Lucky's(Tampa dog track)
Yea they spent 2 million at derby then they jacked the rake up worse than it already was and now its the worst in the country.
