Hell no they don't. But the rates this month are the cheapest Ive ever seen. $150/night during the week and I saw $109 on the internet somewhere.
There is several decent places half mile away on US301 for $50 or so.

anyone know what the June promo is gonna be?

Supervisor said today that the June promo is an iPad for 120 hours, or an iPod for 80 hours. I am sure that since he didn't say "both", that means you get only the iPad if you hit 120, as opposed to collecting the iPod at 80 and then subsequently getting the iPad as well if you do the extra 40 hours. Still not bad.

Didn't think to ask which iPad it is, btw.

That is indeed a nice promo. Over the last few months with the way I've been running, if they give me a $500 iPad, that would raise my effective monthly win rate to about $18. Which would be nice.

Judging by the smelliness of my last table there, I think at least 7 of them were there for the last 120 hours straight, so they may be giving away quite a few iPads.

FFS people, take a damn shower every now and then! (Oh, and for the 10,000th time....wash your damn hands when leaving the bathroom as well. At least 2 of the sinks are usually working - use them.)

When I asked a dealer if he had hard about the June promotion, he said he thought it was the first 100 people to get to the 80 hours or 120 hours and not just everyone who gets those hours in. When I asked him what happens if you hit 80 hours within the first 100 but decide to go for the 120 and don't make it in the first 100, what happens. He didn't know.

Not sure if what he said is correct. Dealers here are usually kept in the dark until the last minute, or a few hours after the last minute before they get the word. I'll try to get more specifics this week if I can.

Yeah, I heard the same thing yesterday about there being a limit (first x number of players to reach the hours-- didn't hear that it was first 100). I'm still waiting to win my 1k drawing. I'm due.

June promo-- 80 hours is an iPod Touch. 120 hours is an iPad2. One OR the other. There is no limit on the number of these awarded to qualified players. Make SURE you're logged in and your seat number is never flashing if you're at the table, even if you're not in the hand.

Tournament formats--
$60 = 3,500 units w/ 20 minute levels
$100 = 4,500 units w/ 20 minute levels
$240 = 6,500 units w/ 25 minute levels & $10K guar. pool
$400 = 8,500 units w/ 30 minute levels & $20K guar. pool
$550 = same
$10 gets you an extra 1,000 units on all MTT

There are single table satellites offered. Most of the time the only single table going on is the 6-handed $50.

2/4 Lim.-- They offer higher-stakes limit games but between players not showing enough interest in a short period or brushes not signing them up/erasing names after an hour or two ...
1/2 PLO-- this game will usually get going on Fridays. Buy-in is 100 to 500. 3/6 Omaha/8 is much more common.

If a brush gives you a hard time about signing up for games which "will never start," bring it up to a floorperson and fill out a complaint sheet if necessary. The brush's job is to promote these games and give the players exactly what they want. This is kinda like going to a car dealership to buy a red sedan and the salesman only shows you black pick-up trucks. You know what you want to play. The brushes should be catering to this; making announcements so the players don't have to round up interest lists on their own just to get a game rolling.

AlanT, typical games:
2/4 Lim (min $30)
1/2NL ($40-100)
1/3NL ($100-300)
2/5NL ($200-600)
less typical:
5/10NL and 5/10/20NL on weekends (both are $500 to $5,000)
3/6 Omaha Hi-Lo 9am-midnight or so (min $50)
1-5 Stud 10am-10pm or so (min $50)
1/2 PLO SOME Friday nights ($100-500)
Unicorn-rare:
4/8 Lim (min $60)
10/20 Lim (min $150)
10/20NL ($1,000-5,000; $9 per 1/2 hr; no jackpot)
2/5 PLO ($200-1,000; $6 per 1/2 hr; no jackpot)
Private games ($75 per 1/2 hr)
There are other games which are theoretically offered (10/25,50/100,150/300 on most games) but haven't played in the new room.

Alan,

Always 1/2, 1/3, 2/5, and 5/10/20 (3 blinds) NL, and sometimes 5/10 NL.

Limit is mostly just 2/4. Sometimes I see a name or two on an interest list for a higher limit game, and I occasionally hear about one going, but they're few and far between from what I've seen.

PLO runs sometimes. I haven't seen it, but read about it here. It's usually 1/2, I believe. There's always a 3/6 Omaha Hi-Lo, and I think there's usually an Omaha 1/2.

Oh, and the 1-5 Stud runs every day, too, but you may need a fake ID to get in it. Gotta be at least 94 years old to play.

Confirmed that about the promo today-- no limit to number of qualifiers. They have flyers at the brush stand if anyone wants to check it out. Pretty cool.

PLO ran this past Friday, we played it 1/2-4straddle(not mandatory), it started late and only went for maybe 3 hours, after having a list since 1, got full table for only 3-4 rounds. Nobody full bought, when the game started I brought 300 to the table, and had everyone covered, and did not top up to max.

Lots of lookey loos to the game, one hit an runner. Also one guy who brought 2k to the table asked: if we ran it multi-times, if there was a forced straddle, and something else I wasn't focused on. Didn't like the answers given back, and walked off.

Will be back Friday to get it running again.

Derby or Skc would be my choice for PLO on a Friday night. Haven't played it much at derby but Skc had two tables running until about 12:30am and it's a 1/2/5 non-mandatory straddle. From what I understand derby has both a small (1/1) and big game (10/25), as "rcnr" and the guys moved the game from lucky's.

They may have moved the big game to derby, but the 1/2/5 button straddle PLO was running Monday with a main game and a must move table that was almost awaysl filled to cap. Main game looked to be playing tight but the must move was action oriented.

In case guys didnt see the fine print on promo. *Prizes subject to change based on availablitly. A giftcard may be substituted en lieu of the actual prize*

If that happens it better be for $500 also it better be for bestbuy, walmart, amazon, etc. and not Hard Rock lol.

Also something is going on with the jackpot starting yesterday. No more Mega after they pay out the last one. Will still be only $1 drop but that will go to Tampa only smaller Jackpot and promos.

Wha?!

Do you happen to know if they go back to Tampa only, if they will also go back to needing any 4 of a kind beat, rather than 10s or higher?

edit: I also just looked at the Tampa Hard Rock website, and they have removed the section that used to show what the BBJ amount was.

They hadn't worked out all the details as of 5 PM when i was there today. It was supposed to be settled in the evening. Hopefully someone that was there later can give us a heads up on the final ruling of the new BBJ.

I am wanting to come spend some time down there and have a few questions. I apologize if these have been addressed in the thread but would really appreciate a response.

1) is the pot raked (and how much) or is there a time drop?
2) i was told several months ago, that there were no poker rates for rooms? Is this true, if not, how much?
3) are there any promotions going on? do they do anything for high volume players? ie freerolls or pay to play?
4) is the hard rock the only legal poker available in tampa?
5) what kind of comps are available to poker players? food?

Thanks much
