1) is the pot raked (and how much) or is there a time drop?

10% up to $5 max, $1 min; plus $1 jackpot drop

2) i was told several months ago, that there were no poker rates for rooms? Is this true, if not, how much?

That's true.
3) are there any promotions going on? do they do anything for high volume players? ie freerolls or pay to play?

It changes each month. For June, it's 80 hours for an IPOD or 120 hours for an IPAD. You need to get a player's club card to track your time at the tables.

4) is the hard rock the only legal poker available in tampa?

No. There is Lucky's card room at the Tampa Dog track, the Silks poker room, and Derby Lane (just across the bridge in St. Pete)

5) what kind of comps are available to poker players? food?

It's based on hours played. 2/5NL and up is $1 per hour. I think below that is 70 cents an hour. You can get a comp slip for a set amount to use for food, or gift shop stuff.

Thanks much
Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot browser. 120 hours for an ipad is pretty sick? do they do double hours during overnight or are all hours eqaul? This is like 4 bucks an hour right? pretty nice live rakeback.

No double hours or anything like that. Just make sure you get logged in at the table, and check it every so often as sometimes a dealer will accidentally bump you out as he's logging someone else in, etc.

They have 1/2NL with a $100 max buyin; 1/3 NL with a $300 max buy in; and 2/5NL with a $600 max buyin;

They also have 5/10 and 5/10/20 NL but I'm not sure what the max buy in is for those.

Thanks, Parisron. Do you happen to know if they are going to start the new one at 5k, or if they will have any "starter" money to get it going at a higher amount?

Got a question about if the alcoholic beverages are free like in vegas and in ac, i know that in daytona they are not. Also hows the 1/3 play compared to vegas and ac standard 12 to 15 preflop im assuming? Do saturday nights usually get drunk club people as well?

Everything is free except alcohol and red bull. water, juice, coffee, soda, capuchino, etc. is free.
1/2 and 1/3 games are usually not deep. people buy in short for both.

As far as the New Jackpot. It started at 6 to 8k today nobody was sure and I could not get an answer on what the min. reset would be. I heard figures between 5k and 20k.

One thing for sure after reading the fine print is that previously 60% of all the BBJ/Mega money went into the promo fund for $500 royals and all the cool promos they have had for the last 6 months.
The new method, 90% goes to the Jackpot and backups and only 10% goes to promo fund, INCLUDING the $500 royals. The way I see it say goodbye to any promos except the $500 royals.

Is there a noticeable difference in skill level between the 1/2 game and the 1/3 game?

i actually think some of the 1/3 players are pretty good and some are def reg grinders. Not sayin that it's difficult, but you'll find some decent-good players at 1/3.

1/2 is full of people who buy in for $40

The 1/2-5 PLO was very Lucky's-ish last night, started around 10:00pm?, if the food court pizzeria wouldn't have food poisoned me I would have stayed more than a few rounds.

What does that mean? I've played it a few times at Lucky's it seems there is a bit of pre flop limping but otherwise I'm not sure how you stereotype the game. Is late Saturday night the only time HR gets a plo game going?

yeah 1/2nl at the HR is pretty horrific since stack sizes are so awkward and most have under a 50bb stack and most are less than 25bb's and play so many different type of hands and call raises with. I think the worse part is u can only buy in for max 50bb's, min 20 bb's, so you have to tailor around that strategy to make any money

1/3 is pretty soft, but you can buy in for the full 100bb's at the table. But there are a bit of better players and also think that 1/3 is a bit tighter than most 2/5 games.

The new room's been open all year and I finally figured out how to park. It's faster parking in the back garage than the front, but then I used to walk half a mile through the casino past rows of slots and octogenarians with oxygen tanks. Finally figured out the back garage is actually like 60 yards from the poker room, you just have to walk around outside to the smoking area and enter straight into the front podium area.

So I'll be doing that until inevitably security tells me not to (like "you can't stand behind your friend at the table" and "you can't sit at an empty table waiting for a seat" (I know they changed that but come on.)) Shooting for ipad in june.

I've played the THR game a few times the last few weeks, and the Lucky's game sporadically in the past few months.

The THR game seems to be a little more rational, and when money is being moved the hands you expect to see turned over are. In the Lucky's game not so much from my experience.

Friday night during my brief stay in the game, before I went home and puked my brains out. There was alot of money being moved in the game, and a whole lot of hands being turned over that the common response from myself, and the two other people I respect in the game going WTF.

This all makes for a really great action game, and I am very disappointed I had to bow out early.

exactly... sometimes the variance in games like that can really nail you, but overall, there's nothing better than PLO (or any) games where people turn over a lot of "WTF" hands.

In games with at least two of these players, I tend to tighten up bit, maybe let myself be bluffed a bit, but generally find that these people play PLO more like Laggy NLHE, and will get it in even with just a single pair, (sometimes not even top pair), even on obviously draw heavy boards.

very profitable.

nice.

Yes.

But you also get to play deeper stack, so smaller differences in skill have greater payoff and you have less variance since you're not constantly engaged in all-in situations. And the skills you learn trying to beat $100 max 1/2 apply to basically nothing else.

Man i wish I would have played live NL before black friday. It's been officially 6 weeks of live play at the hard rock and have to say Live is much better than online. Played 1/3NL for the first 2 weeks and all of May played 2/5NL. Averaging a 8-9bb/hr between both limits over a small yet consistent sample size. Lets see how June goes.

2-5 is actually much fishier in my experience than 1-3.

Does anyone know if there is a cap in the amount of ipods and ipads they will give away in June...or is it guaranteed if you hit the hours you get the promotion?

Also - Played the nightly 7:30 tourney 2 nights ago only 30 runners, top 4 paying - 6 players left - button raised and I shoved from the big blind with just over 20bbs with 99- He tells me "I know you have AA" and after 2 minutes folds QQ face up - lol love live poker...

I greatly disagree and miss online tremendously, although it is nice to get out more and play with such BAD players...

I haven't played the PLO game at lucky's yet, but I've played in the game at the rock 2 or 3 times in the last month when it ran and everyone seemed pretty competant except for 1 or 2 guys.
