I'd be willing to give it a go, I've thought about playing PLO but that's gotta be a huge game ($5/5 with a rock, yes?) so it would be nice to have an alternative once in a while that I can manage with my BR.

Anyone have recommendations for inexpensive places to stay overnight near by? I'm thinking of coming up on Friday/Saturday from Bradenton over the summer. They don't usually offer a poker room rate, right?

check the map feature on hotels.com.....( i use this all over the country).
IN about a week i'm at Holiday Inn Express Fairgrounds for around 100/night both Fri and Sat.- pretty good for winter weekend in Tampa. Over the summer you should catch much better rates.

A little off topic, but has anyone gotten those "Mystery Free play" things in the mail from the Hard Rock and actually gone and used them? I get them every week or two, but they are usually on a Monday, was wondering if it's worth making the trip for? Said it can be anywhere up to $1,000, but just wondering what the norm was. Thanks!

Derby Lane would be the place; a small group of guys plays it there. No idea how much per point, but obviously it's nothing small. And I think-- though I'm not positive-- that they play it pineapple. I'd call and ask a supervisor for info.

Looks like the reporting for the latest tournament series is non existent. They did such a great job of reporting on shrtpoker.com last series.... Ill update numbers from the 250k guarantee when I get to the poker room a little later.

350 players total so far. 75 advanced. 140k average stack going into day two so far. Today should push them over guarantee easily.

The final two flights got 196 and 140 respectively. That brings the total to 686. Not sure how many made it through but good luck to everyone still in.

I hope the new room can be seen from the main floor to get more gamble gamble players. Loved where the old room was (where the new high-stakes slots area is now).

Don't count on it, the new room will likely be located off the beaten path. It's no coincidence that the current room, which was always intended to be temporary, is strategically located where it is harder for walk ups to get too--down a long hall with relatively small signage as opposed to facing the gaming "floor" like the old room did. The Seminoles don't want their bread and butter non poker playing slot and pit game players wandering into the poker room to lose money to other players at poker (with a small piece going to the house), they prefer to keep it to themselves.

I have asked hard rock why they cant spread it, and they said its not an approved game. they just need to put it to their 'council" and get it approved. seems kinda dumb they dont.

I am one of said players. It really depends who is playing. the game that runs weekdays is usually 10-15pt (pineapple). I cant remember the last time it was played with 1 card at a time. every so often it will run bigger, but its pretty much just a few guys from the bigger PLO games playing and there will never be an open seat for a random.

as of late, we have been playing "progressive pineapple". if you get to fantasy with queens, you get 9 cards after the first 5 (14 total). if kings up top, 10 cards (15 total) if aces up top, 11 cards (16 total), if trips up top, 12 cards (17 total). as you can imagine, the swings are a bit more extreme so we play 5-10pt.
