Anyone have any idea what the chip stacks of the final 3 players were when they chopped the main? 1st place secured a ton of the cash remaining so hopefully he had a large majority of the chips in play.

Not sure if they chopped when 3 handed started but from the blog (chop posted shortly after)....

https://www.shrtpoker.com/championsh...ining-payouts/

David Bradshaw – 7,690,000
Matthew Leecy – 5,145,000
Josh Lowing – 1,820,000

The final three players agreed to a deal that saw chip leader David Bradshaw earn $154,750 along with the $5,250 seat and guitar. Matthew Leecy pocketed an even $120,000 while short stack Josh Lowing went home with $86,857.

Thanks

Even with those chip stacks the icm chop comes out to $144k, $127k, and $89,700. I'm surprised the smaller stacks gave up extra value but nice score either way.

Are the tournaments in the same room as the cash games?

I'm in Tampa on vacation and it's my first time in a casino. I figured the cash games out Wednesday evening but have no idea where to go to register, play, etc. for MTT's.

Would love to play one while I'm down here.

Same room, there should be a schedule up at the podium.

Man, Hard Rock is pulling out all the stops and stopping at no expense to kick off their new poker room right, including an A-list celebrity appearance! (and by A list, I mean, bottom of the barrel, d minus, minus, minus celebrity.)

Hopefully this will bring out the fish for a few months though... The promoting the "celeb appearance" is pretty funny though, I mean jeez, they could have at least gotten like Hulk Hogan or some other local celeb, think I would have rather gone and seen Tony Little... lol

And here I was expecting Doyle Brunson to come out and kick off our new poker room opening here in Tampa, followed by a free concert by U2.

We've wanted a better room for a long time, and while it may be overdue, they've finally gotten it done. From the description, it sounds pretty cool, and they're doing what they can to promote it. I for one give them credit for this.

Yes, I do know, lol and just think it's funny that they brought in some D-list celeb, I mean, Brad Garrett, really? Someone could have told me he died in 1998 and I wouldn't be surprised. Should have gotten Corey Feldman if they were going to do go the D-list Celeb route... At least he would be entertaining...

But in all seriousness, glad it's opening after many many years of saying they would, don't think the games at The Rock have been nearly as good since they instituted the parking fee, even with the 3 hour comp thing, I've preferred the other rooms around the area much more, but hopefully this will get some new fish to come out and play, just honestly thought it was funny that a place that rakes in billions a years, is opening and promoting the room with Brad Garrett of all people. Wouldn't have cracked my 100,000 people I'd want to see/meet or the route I would have went, but maybe it will interest a few people... who knows lol

Garrett is an odd choice- for an east coast venue. He plays well in Las V; I'm currently at same for NYE and he's still a presence here, with a club at MGM, always playing in celebrity poker events, can actually hold his own on the table, And has some decent on-call buddies who can fill out a charity event and make it worth people while. (Perhaps that may be the hook with him, dragging a few other d-listers out of the mothballs box.) But he is the type of guy that will show up and actually DO something, instead of just the 30minute photo opportunity for status cardholders, etc.

So it seems like they are just handing parking passes out now without even checking playing time. Happened to me last two days. I was over three hours anyway but they literally just gave it to me when I asked. FWIW, if the curiosity is killing anyone you can just take the elevator down to the G level from the south garage and see the new room. Security immediately will tell you get out but you'll see all you need to right out of the elevator. I was impressed

Josh here. I'll give some background info on the chop. It was around 3am when we discussed chopping and we'd been playing since noon. The blinds were at 80K bb and I doubled up Matthew getting it in with AA vs his Q9 on a Q93ssx board. A couple of hands later and the very last hand before break I doubled through him getting it in pre with A2 vs his A4 and spiking a 2.

After that hand Matthew said he was done and just wanted to chop. I asked him how much he wanted and he said 120K. David said he wanted 160K. I told him that if we chopped he'd be getting the $5250 seat to the championship, so we subtracted that from the 160K he wanted. That left me with my just under $87K. I didn't know the exact icm calculations because I have a tracfone and the internet sucks on it and would have been a pain to pull up. Also the Hard Rock will allow chops, but they won't run the icm calculations for you. I knew David's 160K seemed too high, but I figured it was coming out of Matthew's share. Just eyeballing it, my number seemed about where it should have been, so I took the deal.

Looking back, I wish I had tried to get an extra $5k out of David. I'm not sure if it would have worked. He seemed overconfident because of how he was running and his big chip stack. Also, he was getting coached in between hands by Prince Gaspard and was starting to play better. On top of that I was really tired and he seemed like he could play for another couple of hours. I still could have tried though and if he refused just accepted the $87K.

Either way I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out. I've only been playing professionally for about a year now and this is my biggest score.

This is what they should have done from the first day the parking fee was added.

Cool thanks for the tip! Might wait until Tuesday to play to see it but will do this if I venture out tonight.

New room opened as planned? Have a date day w/ the wife and wanted to check out the new room. Maybe grab a drink at the bar there before going out to lunch.

On their twitter feed there is a pic of the new room so I'm guessing it's open.

It looks spectacular.

Played the new room tonight.... Was def top notch.

Highlights:

Room was PACKED. Obviously will be that way for the first few weeks/months I guess, but every table was in use when I got there at 8pm as well as 20+ person waiting lists....

Tv's everywhere. legit, everywhere, from every angle.

Room Temp never got 30 degrees below zero like the old one. Was a little hot when I got there around 8pm, but every table was full and about 100 people waiting to play, so guessing that was just due to the amount of people, by 11pm it cooled off and was actually a comfy temperature most of the night.

New Snack bar in the poker room, with cheap eats (Think a burger was $4.00)

Lowlights:

Sooooooo far away from the rest of the casino (and can be a tad bit confusing to get too) will attract poker players at first due to the new room etc, but no one would ever find the poker room unless they were looking for it, so will def take away some of the random traffic who walk past the room and decide to play.

Seems like a lot of people, myself included, got zero comp dollars tonight, even though I played for almost 9 hours. Guessing it's just a glitch that will get fixed in the longrun but overall, still annoying.

But overall, a huge upgrade to the room itself, they spared no expense it seems, so hopefully it will get some of the seemingly lost action back.

Sidenote: Probably don't want to keep announcing it publicly or I'm guessing it might get stopped by the higher ups if they see this, but like someone else said, they 100% just give out passes if you ask, I played 9 hours anyways, but they were just handing them out like candy to anyone who asked, without checking.

Thanks for the update and congrats. There are a million variables in play when making a deal so I would never judge - ...'but'.... I would make sure you have a phone that can run a quick icm next time if you ever consider chopping for hundreds of thousands of dollars, that way you have as much info as possible to make your decision. I'm sure one of the other players would have pulled it up if pressured. The big stack would have pulled up icm if you told him you needed to see it first before giving him $160k. If you had showed them ICM you may have been able to get at least another $5k, but I wasn't there so I really have no clue and you're the only one that has to be happy in the end so kudos for the big score.

Thanks. Tiredness played a big factor in why I did what I did. I fired 2 bullets in this. I busted near the end of the 2nd flight and bagged a descent stack after 12 hours of play in the last flight. So after 15 hours of play on day 2 I was pretty tired. This really should have been structured as a 3 day tournament. I don't know how people do it in the wsop main. Days 1 and 2 can be spread out, but days 3-7 have got to be rough.

It's easier to poke at the numbers now, but at the time I was tired and just wanted to protect the 21K over 3rd place money I was getting. I would have asked either one of them to pull up the icm numbers, but I didn't want Matthew to see his number. 120K seemed too low to me and I figured his icm was actually closer to 130K. David seemed pretty set on either getting 160k or playing it out and I didn't think he would be willing to give up the 10K or so to Matthew. If either one of them said no deal over this I would have 18 bigs when we played. If I doubled through either one of them I figured it would bump my 87K up another 21K and I wasn't willing to risk 21K just for another 21K.

Funnily enough, I was researching phone plans and phones before I left for this trip. I made 2 icm chops at final tables right before this one and knew not having a phone that could do icm calculations was going to be a problem. I bought an iphone with some of my winnings, so it won't be a problem in the future when I make a final table this year.
