As they clean, they are putting the rags/towels into bags marked Biohazard. They worked on the table for over an hour. It really looked like the way you would handle a cleanup if someone ****ing died and bled out all over the table. They were cleaning the whole table area, not just like one seat or so. After an hour of playing, my table breaks, so on the way over I go over to a supervisor who is still at the table and asked what happened. I see that even though they have picked up all the cloths covering the table, the shuffle machine cover is covered with little pieces of brown stuff.

It turns out the player in seat 1 has some sort of combo sneeze/cough with snuff either in his mouth or up his nose, and it gets power projected over the entire table. The supervisor told me that from seat 1, the guy in seat 7 got hit with residue. The rack was covered, and was most of the table. If the table looked anything like the shuffle machine cover, which was covered with the tobacco particles and they appeared to be stuck to the plastic, it must have been mighty nasty.

They didn't reopen the table while I was there. But I'd be careful of table 16 for a while. For all the work they did on it, you'd think they would take the felt off and clean it or something. Nasty.
I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and you tell us seat 7 then proceeded to hurl all over the table. I also usually discreetly use dip (the pouches kind so it doesnt get all over the place, kind of like sucking on a teabag). I'm guessing after the fiasco on 16, I should probably not even try that anymore.

Up until now, I've never considered the second-hand effects of tobacco chewing.

How much does a person have to degen away here before they get a hotel offer?

I could be wrong, but there is no amount of degenning in the poker room to get a hotel (except paying full price with 60 cents per hour comps).

I think if you high stakes degen it up on blackjack but especially slots, they comp rooms pretty easily.

When you pull in off Hillsborough Av. and the parking garages are right in front of you, go up the ramp and turn right (i.e., if you're heading south on the up ramp). Forget the name of that garage but there's a sign that says Elite Parking is the one to the left - you want the one on the right.

Park anywhere there, level 2 or 3. Go down the middle stairs to outside (on the West side), and then you walk around the smoke shop (actually through their drive through lane) and it leads you to the back/outside smoking area for the poker room.

Not sure if this is what others are talking about but that's what I do. It's about 90 seconds from when I leave my car to walking in the room.

(The temporary place for the tournaments is actually on your right as you are making that walk - but I don't think you can get in that gate that is there, since it leads to the pool back there and I think it's locked.)

The Hard Rock did a great job with the series imo. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with how well the tourney was run, especially considering they were in a new area with several temp. dealers. Hopefully, they will continue to run bigger tourney series in this area in the future. I'm guessing they can get a much larger turn out for the next one.

Agreed, staff was good, I like the "borgata rule" of counting the chips at each break, and sitting by the pool had it's perks... But some lamps for table 5 would've been nice, I felt like I was playing in a hookah lounge.

I heard a dealer talking to a player about how they had put USB ports at each seat on table 14 as a trial. Didn't actually go check, but he seemed sure about it. I think the dealer said the plan was to put them at each seat at each table. Probably will get done right after the new chairs arrive.

Got to use the new chairs the other night, was a nice change. Being able to rollaround a little was super helpful in keepng warm as it was about 45 degrees at the table. Could also spin myself in a full 360 when I flopped quads, was a nice bene in lieu of any meaningful promo

This was the only negative I found for the series. I can see counting player stacks at break, but for the love of god don't touch the chips. Multiple occasions I came back to my chips being re-stacked. You can do an accurate enough count just by looking at it. There is no need for the dealer or the blogger to touch the chips.

Agreed on the rearranging of chips, just a taaaad bit annoying. Overall, the tourney was run tip top considering it was the first one thrown outside the normal room. Some of the dealers were atrocious as far as being new, but that's expected and they at least gave it their best effort.

One suggestion I feel that would enhance the # of runners for each event would be to mirror the Borgata S&G's for tourney lammers. There was an excess of tables, so S&G's should have been running non-stop.

Well done event even though I ran like dog sh#t. Looking forward to the next one!

If the tournament director wants to completely disassemble my chip stack to count them all individually to prevent what happened at Borgata, I am all for it. They did ask to have us put them into stacks of 20 so that they weren't disturbed that much.

How does counting someones chip stacks at break stop what happened at Borgata? If I wanted to bring in chips I could easily just do so after the break. I personally hate the dealers touching my chips and I usually watch when they count my stack. A lot of time they have the chips very close to another persons stack when counting so it could be very easily mixed together. In the long run I think there will be more dealer errors combining stacks and what not than the preventing what happened at Borgata since counting someones stack does nothing to prevent that.

The only useful thing for the casino is its easier to do live reporting of chip leaders other than that it was a huge waste of time. Not to mention there were numerous times the dealer was not done counting all the stacks and the break had ended and we had to wait 5 mins while the clock was running which was really annoying. The Tournament Director would never pause the clock and wait.

If they are taking real counts after every break, then the total number of chips in play will be accounted for. If there is a surplus of chips, there would be an issue. If someone were to put on chips after the break, then they would have to remove the excess chips before every break as well. By doing so, the total number of chips in play would be consistent in the casinos eyes. This would be a pain in the ass for a cheater because they would risk getting caught at least twice as often. It's definitely a deterrent.

I suggest counting your stack personally and then writing it down before you leave for break. When you come back, count it again to make sure it's the same. It only takes a minute for peace of mind.

They would have to add up every single players chip count which could be over 200 plus players they are not doing this every break. Even if they did waste a bunch of time doing this how do they know which table the chip counts are off? You would have to have the dealers also not make any mistakes in there counting which we know is nearly impossible. Also, Players are being moved and tables are being broken all the time. How could they possibly pinpoint which player brought the chips in. It's a massive waste of time and will cause more dealer error in the future than it will prevent someone from sneaking extra chips on the table.

There would have to be a significant surplus in chips but they could stop play and have a recount. They could have floors start examining chips to see if there are counterfeits in play. They could begin looking at security footage. It's a lot easier to look at 2 hours of footage than 20. I agree it's annoying and I don't like my chips being handled when I'm not present but I wrote down the number of chips I had before I left and recounted when I got back. If there had been a discrepancy, it would have gotten sorted. Always protect yourself.

Yea, it did suck when the dealers weren't done counting at your table, they could easily remedy this by not allowing play to resume until all stacks have been counted.

Agree with all this. S&G's would have been great. Especially since I busted early in one of the events I played in. Also agree that the quality of the dealers was bad. I saw one chopped pot where the dealer made a separate color pile for each chip denomination. And then still didn't know if she had it right. Does anyone know why the didn't at least use some of the regular dealers to deal the tournaments?
