Yup, PLO games are way tougher now

Thought the little slick tourney was great. For a $125 tourney the starting stack was fine. Of course more chips is always better. But how may days are we trying to play the tournament?

I also didn't mind the payout %. Many were in for more than 1 buy-in and a min cash of $375 is way better than a min cash of $200ish. Also the added money to higher places is better IMHO.

Let's all be happy that we finally got a decent multi day tourney at hard rock outside of the every 3 month WPT series.

Great job Scott. Hope this runs monthly!

Despite the end result, I agree with all of this. I liked the idea of a 2-day tourney having a decent min-cash. If you wanted to pay out more people, you could make it a little less top-heavy. 25k to first for a $125 investment is still pretty nice. I doubt with these payouts that the FT will play down to a clean winner, but you never know.

I dropped down last week just to see what was going on there. Probably the weakest players I have EVER played with. Not a clue, not even an ability to read, some people calling down three streets with king high. The big problem is the amount of money on the table. That and the fact that you can basically throw bluff out of your game as you're getting called down 99% of the time no matter what you bet with such short stacks. At one point (full table) there was about 600 out there (total).

pokerroom is 24/7/365 right?

What about the surrounding casino facilities? And what about food at night? Are there some 24 hour options?

I have only been until 3am. But I know that the casino and food court is open 24 hours. Wouldnt be surprised If most of the other places are open 24/7 as well.

All the gaming areas are 24/7. The Green Room is open 24 hours for food. It's sort of a coffee shop like restaraunt. There's a food court open til midnight except for Fri/Sat nights when it closes at 2am. The fancier places close earlier.

For the life of me I don't get this resistance. We all know that skill is better than luck and skill is better served with bigger starting stacks and longer levels. It's just that simple. "just fine" is not as good as "much better" or "preferred as it serves our needs". Is 15K and 45 min blind levels not a better tournament?

The food court says 24 hours on their website? I have been there at 3am, but never noticed if the food court open.

Not when you are trying to attract people who have to go to work each day and can't play a 16 hour day one or have a tourney that is scheduled to end on a Sunday turn into a full day on Monday like one of the WPT ME did a while ago. You have to account for the fact that for a $125 tourney your target population includes a lot of working people and not tourney circuit types.

You have to balance blinds/level length with the time available to complete the tourney.

No, let's have the same tourney next month and add a black chip bounty.

I'm not sure where you see that on the website. If you go to the dining tab, then click food court, it lists the hours I've mentioned. But since I mostly play the "overnight shift" I can confirm it is sadly not open in the wee hours In fact, they quit cooking and start cleaning up a half hour before closing time, so if you show up at say 15 minutes before closing lots of the venues have almost nothing left anyway.

Great Job Scott. I do think moving forward given the limited space that you need to run this type of tournament 10 handed. I also hope that there will be some improvements to the WPT in December.

Thanks

I see your point but for me (personally) I like 15K and 30 min better than 10K and 20 min. You do understand the casino likes less chips faster times - it's more profitable.

I get your point as well, and take away the time constraints the more chips/longer time model is clearly more desireable.

i played in a WSOP $1500 tourney back in 2006 when you only got a 1:1 ratio of buyin to chips, so we started with 1500 in chips. It was an uneventful 45 minutes for me

The Poker Room is always open. There are numerous restaurants including a 24hr restaurant.

you get what you pay for in the tourneys. Even the 1500 Main events are 40 min levels. This tourney was great value no matter how you look at it. 225.00 or 325.00 w 100 bounties would be awesome.

Sounds like you got confused and played 2/4 limit. With the buy in 60 min/300 max,it would be a real challenge to find a table with about $600 out there.

The Green Room is the only food available 24x7. It's really excellent diner food, but they are slow as hell.
