Heard from several dealers over the weekend that since the parking fees started their tips are down roughly 30% to 50%, even factoring in that this is the slow season. Was told that many dealers are starting to look at other options, i.e. second jobs, dealing at other venues, moving to find a job dealing elsewhere. Was also told that morale is really bad among dealers and staff. Dealers were told not to discuss the parking fees and also not to discuss that their tips are down.

Ironically there was free parking Sat. and Sun. this weekend, wonder why?

Yes, both Saturday and Sunday. There were no guards at gates and arms on the gates were up.

Since I posted earlier I've heard that they had some huge problem with their computer systems and casino players couldn't get paid out for hours over the weekend, they had to wait in long lines to get paid. So this may be why the had free parking, although not 100% sure this was the reason.

There was a technical problem on Saturday with slot tix or something, so they made the parking free. And I was told parking was free Sunday because of 9/11.

Can confirm parking was free yesterday but it wasn't because of 9/11.

If it were it would've been in REEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY poor taste, even for THR.

Little Slick numbers are way down compared to prior ones and who can blame people for not playing it? Through 6 flights there have been 466 entries, compared to 700+ through the first 6 flights for the Little Slicks in April and July.

Not that there wasn't a lot of juice to begin with, but it's basically a $120 + $50 when you factor in rake, staff add-on, and $20 for two days of parking.

It's going to come down to the wire if they break the guarantee without dipping into their rake (need 1250 entries to do this), something that I thought would never happen given how they usually blow away their guarantees.

I am confident that they will hit the Guarantee.I have noticed in the past when they do not crush the Guarantee they tend to drop the amount of the Guarantee in future Tournaments.September tends to be a little slower as school has just started back.

It looks like they came up short.1166 entries x $120=$139,920.If we include the rake, excluding Dealer tip $163,240.Just read an interested local news piece, where residents of a near by community are complaining about all the cars parking in there neighborhood and going to the Hard Rock.

That lady that had her car vandalized yet still keeps parking there everyday to gamble is a sick degenerate... hahahaha But seriously, this parking fee is just so absurd on so many levels.... No one likes it, doubt the Hard Rock is making much if any money at all with all the money it's keeping out, it's pissing off their dealers, customers, locals, they're getting a ton of bad press, at what point is enough, enough and just admit it was a mistake?

Yes. This thread has devolved into a catch all for people's parking complaints. We get it. You're pissed. Now get over it. It's been two months. You should be nice and settled where ever you're gonna reg by now.

I haven't spent a dime on parking yet, as you can pay with your comp dollars. It sucks that I can't treat my wife to dinner on SHRT's dime anymore, but it's whatever. Maybe I will use some of the $250 I got for 75 hours this month.

Or maybe I'll use some of the money I win from clueless gambling addicts. Take this hand from last night as an example. I had 2♣2❤ on 9♦6♦2♦. Somebody bet all in to me with A❤5❤.

With that kind of action, $10 is the cost of doing business. But like I said, between the $250 promotion and the comp dollars you accumulate, poker players really ought to quit btching. I also think the $10 keeps most of the nits out, which is fine by me.

While that's great for you that you have an extra 72 hours of free time (I'm guessing you must not work full time or have kids or just have the most understanding wife of all time to work 160+ hours a week then be gone another 80+ to play and travel to play poker) For a lot of us, that's just simply not a reality so this promotion does nothing to help most of us. Also, I've personally boycotted the Hard Rock on principle (and have a been a 1-2 times a week regular there for the last 5 years) but I can tell you, out of my 10 favorite fishes, I've seen 9 of them at other rooms I've been playing at, so it's not just the nits that are going elsewhere....

I can appreciate your position. If the parking fee inconveniences you or angers you enough to quit going to Hard Rock all together, that is totally your prerogative. I just don't get how long we're going to spam this thread with all the same rehashed complaints. Like maybe if one more person gets on this thread to type about how pissed they are at the parking fee, Hard Rock will change their minds. Come on, guys! One more complaint will do it!

It's like when someone breaks up with you but still blows up your phone. MOVE ON!

I honestly think very few of the posts have been people coming in here bitching, feel like it's been more of people discussing what they are hearing from dealers, "insiders", local stories about it, and discussing how it's affected the room, and people discussing if they think it will last, but don't think there's been many people bitching about it over and over with nothing to contribute, unlike the Hard Rock FB page (If you think this is back, go look at their reviews the last few months, it's pretty funny) lol

Agree with NHTPA , implementation of the parking fee has created ongoing, evolving issues with the poker room that are relevant to players including game selection and dealer morale. Thus posts that address the shrinking size of the player base and what that could mean as well as posts that note media reporting of the issues are relevant to me and I hope to see more.

I just specifically pulled up this thread to come in here and see if anyone had any updates on the parking, so I'd say this info is definitely relevant to many people as we try to see what this $10 parking fee does to the poker at each room. I live in South Tampa 15 minutes from Hard Rock and Derby - and I've only went to play at the hard rock a couple times for their tourney series since the parking fee was added.

I'm almost surprised at how much of a factor it is in my own decision making process anytime I'm choosing between the rooms. If Hard Rock is the only option then it's a no brainer and the $10 is nothing compared to a decent win rate, yet it's not the only option... and the fact that it's just some absurd tax they decided to levy makes me feel like I should just save the $10 every time because it will add up to a lot of money over time.

For the larger tourney series', and weekends occasionally when I want to add fun into the mix, I can see myself at the hard rock - but anytime I want to play a cash game session I plan on playing at derby probably. I don't like showing up and thinking I need to play long enough to make the $10 parking fee worth it. I like to be able to leave if things aren't going my way. It just feels like it's an over the top fee, which we all agree it is, and so I just don't feel like paying it whenever I can avoid it.

I don't think I'm giving up any real money doing so, and I could very well be making the most +ev decision if the games are fairly similar. If you happen to be playing in big enough games at the hard rock that don't run anywhere else then obviously there's no decision to make, but if you just play 1-2 and 2-5 then maybe the difference isn't as big as you'd think only playing recreationally 1-2 times a week. And it's important that the hard rock realize this is a mistake and at least comp parking for poker somehow, so not giving them my business helps there as well.

On the subject of parking, I'm not so sure they'll take it away. Poker is just one subsection of the entire casino, and the slots and table games have no competition anywhere else in Tampa. The poker room is noticeably emptier than it used to be (it doesn't even fill up on Friday and Saturday nights anymore!), but I haven't noticed much of a difference in the rest of the casino. Business as usual.

I'm posting from my phone so I'm not sure if this is going to format correctly but, I put the following together based on the gross revenue numbers that the gaming commission publishes on their web site. This is based just on cash rake so it excludes tourny rake (#s in July/ Aug columns in thousands)

Obviously the revenue changes could be attributed to a number of things but I would comfortably suggest that the increased revenue in Tampa area rooms, is due mostly to the parking fee.

The Seminoles don't release info like the other rooms do but it's pretty safe to think that the increased revenue in those rooms off sets a decrease in the Tampa HR.

The problem for the HR regs is that the $10 parking fee more than covers the little bit of rake we can assume is lost so I would be surprised it went away just because of the effect on the poker room.

To be a good metric, you need to compare the July to August change for 2016 to the same for 2015, and then chart the differential in real $ figures. But I'm sure the parking fees (guesstimate $400K/month) offset any differential just for poker. The better question is how much do they lose in casino game revenues. That may be a much more significant number.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them backtrack to free parking and turn it into a marketing ploy: "Always free parking at the Seminole Hard Rock!"

I thought about comparing it to the prior year but because most of these rooms started the banked card games after aug 15 and include it in cash rake it all looks like the rooms have more revenue than last year. I think doing it this way shows that there is an influx in money in essentially two rooms in the state that causes those two rooms to be the only rooms with positive revenue. There isn't any new product so it's just money moving from one place to another.
